A Loving Farewell 

Man, it really hits home: thinking about how much of a spiritual anchor Elder Ballard has been since my youth, as young missionary years ago, and in the years since. I can easily think of several of his talks that have meant so much to me and others, and also recall his voice giving them. He will be missed!

" every human soul is a son or daughter of God, and he loves his children" Thank you Elder Ballard.

I am daily amazed that l, somehow, was blessed to be tracked out by missionaries who taught me about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love Him, and l love the Prophet Joseph Smith. Each day it dawns on me that l am incredibly blessed to be a part of this marvelous work and wonder. We will miss you Elder Ballard but l am thrilled for you as you are reunited with Barbara and all who have gone before you.

Love this man. The world lost a great one today.

Whenever he came to speak to us at BYU he always referred to himself as “Grandpa Ballard”! ❤️ It feels crazy to lose another one of what feels like the old guard of the apostles. So happy for him to be reunited with his wife and be having that talk with his own Grandpa Ballard!

I remember shaking his hand on my mission, I was really struggling, it was obvious, but he still shook my hand looked me in the eyes and said "good luck elder", lol We will miss Elder Ballard

As a child I would look through the christmas cards every december and one day I noticed one of them was from the Ballard family. I asked my mom why one of the apostles and his children and grandchildren where on this card and why they would send it to us of all people. My mother then told me that before she was married she had babysat some of the grandchildren and their family then sent us a christmas card every year after that. That impressed me that they would remember my mom so many years latter. I made more of an effort to listen in general conference to what Elder Ballard and other speakers had to say which was hard for me at such a young age, but I wanted to hear what he had to say since his children had gone to the effort of sending a card out to us each year and it made me curious. Thank you!

I loved President Ballard's counsel on how to lead in a way that puts the family first. He was my resource when I was a "young" young women's president, struggling to balance that calling and being a newer mom myself. I have leaned on that counsel repeatedly in my callings in the church. He really brought home that the church is the scaffolding on the family and not the other way around.

What a wonderful legacy President Ballard leaves. I’m so grateful for his years of love and counsel. He’s now with his beloved Barbara. I will miss him and hope I get to see him when I return Home.

I lived in Ontario at the time that Pres Ballard was the mission president there. My very first temple recommend is signed by him!

Yes, I understand it’s terribly lonely at night!! I’ve been single for 15 years now from an addict husband, but being alone is so much better than being stuck with him!! I just keep wondering where my husband is? It is terribly lonely all the time! I appreciate Elder Ballard’s faithful service. If all men were more like him, there would never be an addict to rob us of happiness and security!!

I have always loved this man's messages to assist us along. I will always deeply appreciate him and I will miss him.

I appreciate that Elder Ballard was humble enough to wonder how he got to be an apostle. He's the only apostle that I've shaken hands with and I still remember that he was quiet, reserved and humble. ❤

Thank you for a beautiful farewell. I feel that I didn't really know much about Apostle Ballard and this filled my heart.

Although I dont agree with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints beliefs. I like how these 15 men love on one another. When one of the 12 was struggling to stand at the podium 2 of these men stood up there with the brother so he could finish his speech. RIP Mr. Ballard

Such an exemplary life! ❤In September I finished his biography, "Anxiously Engaged." It was SO inspiring! It reminded me of goals I had while I was at BYU that I lost sight of. I still live a good life but after reading his book I was on fire, remembering my goals and wanting to be better. Elder Ballard, you have made such a remarkable mark on millions of people.❤

A very powerful testimony of a Living Apostle of Jesus Christ about tha Savior Jesus Christ and His Grandfather Ballard who became an Apostle and now Him. Talking about His wife Barbara and His children and grandchildren that soon he will with Her. We are grateful for His powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and that families can be together forever.

He has had such a soothing and calm presence in his talks and teachings. I love him and he will be missed.

I love you M. Russell Ballard! What a great legacy he left to his family, friends, and to mankind! He's such a wonderful example of lovingly ministering to the people on the earth. Hyrum & Joseph Smith must be very happy with his faithfulness in following Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith saw God & Jesus Christ together in the sacred grove, and that Ballard was one of Joseph's successors. I'm excited that he can spend eternity with his beautiful wife & with loved ones forever!
