This video includes a lesson on why it’s important to send well timed code. No matter what device you use to key the rig, always strive for a good fist.

HI, Nice video as always. What is that small case you have your AX1 antenna and accessories in?
@ThomasK4SWL

It's this one (affiliate link) amzn.to/3d8RewV It works perfectly for the AX1. I even keep a spare log book and pen in it most of the time, too.

OMG! That's it! I just need to change/update the filter in my head😂 Seriously though, I want to get back up to speed on my copy primarily because I love CW, and I want to start doing activations. The irony is, I had zero desire to learn CW when I first licensed in 94! Wishing you and your family a happy and Blessed Thanksgiving, take care and 73' Thomas!

It’s interesting how much the AX1 often behaves like a 40m EFHW in footprint (minus the occasional dx;) when looking at your map. During our field training exercises at Ft. Leonard Wood in basic training, we’d spend days out in the field. While out, the A-10s would also be training and doing strafing runs and dropping flairs at all hours. What an awesome sight. That made the boring guard duty hour’s worthwhile! Michael - N7CCD

This is true! And great note about the A10s!

Hi. New subscriber here. Although I don't have a clue what are you doing? Is there a way I can get more context? You seem to be contacting radio stations around the USA east coast and England. Is there an actual human being replying you? Or is it a machine? Are you having actual conversations with those radio stations? What do you talk about then? It's intriguing.

Yes! So thanks for stopping by. We are amateur radio operators. We're licensed by the FCC (and other similar governing bodies in other countries) which allows us to use radios on HF or shortwave frequencies to make contact with each other. We use radios similar to the one I have in this video and communicate via Morse Code (like I'm doing here), voice, or digital modes. In this video (and most of my videos), I'm participating in a program called "Parks On The Air." You can Google this to get more detail, but it's an activity that brings together a community of radio friends from across the globe. Check out my blog if you'd like more detail on all of this. Happy to help answer any of your questions: qrper.com

Thank you very much for your kind response. I will check more of your videos so hopefully I learn more about this field. It would be cool adding subtitles for those who don't know morse code. Although maybe part of the magic is actually feel able to decipher the code. Don't know. Many questions.

@@TheAlbertomerida If I had the time (sadly, I don't) I would add the subtitles. I do, however, include the full log sheet in my field report on QRPer. It helps to ID the stations I'm logging in real-time. Yes, I hope you enjoy exploring the world of amateur radio!
