@@franko8572just don't go swimming in canals or ponds or lakes 😂, I've been here thirty-five years and I have never had a problem with an alligator, they only become nuisance when people feed them
@@CLSGL yes the average person can run 10-15 mph not 5-8. You don’t know what the hell your talking about, unless the person is 78 years old then they aren’t only running 8mph
I've seen them chase and they are fast. Was staying at a campsite in southern florida. Asked the man at admission gate if it was safe for tents overnight. He said it was even though there were canals. Thank God we had 2 tents, one for sleeping and one for cooler and camping gear. (There was no open food). In the middle of the night we heard a thrashing noice and a gator was attacking the tent with the cooler and camping gear. Crap it could have been our tent. The next morning we went down to the canal about 100 ft away from our site. All of a sudden a gator started chasing us. I got on top a picnic table. The gator chased after my friend up a palm tree. Thank goodness my friend got to just under the ponds of the palm tree. The gator got pretty close but feel off. Note that this camping ground was just for tents, no RV's. Needless to say we never went back there. Scared the hell out of both of us.
@@theblacone6227 I live closer to the Appalachians, where they have black bears. They're the smallest and most docile of all bears. They normally leave humans alone, unless they have their cubs nearby.
Here in coastal South Carolina you treat all water like there is a gator in it. Walking along the water, especially with a dog, is ringing the dinner bell.
Alligators don't run. They crawl. The next correct word is owed, past tense. It's not owe, present tense. Return to school and give back the diploma you didn't earn but we're given to get you out. 😊
My niece was living where their yards backed up to the canals. She’s from Texas and lived in the Houston area where there were crocs. But she didn’t expect them in Florida.😊 lol I had to laugh. She woke up one morning to go to the patio with her coffee. Started to open the patio door and about three ft from the . Lol door was a crocodile aligator I’m not sure which. She called 911 and they got some one to come get it. Lol
I live in an apartment complex in Central Florida. My neighbors wanted to know how alligators kept getting into our lakes. They were appalled when I told them they can climb fences. I'm in the middle of a busy tourist area ... Alligators, Coyotes, Wild hogs ... They closed down the Magic Kingdom because a bear wandered in ... I haven't seen any snakes, but, I assume they're around and naturally raccoons. Even had a river otter come visit. So it's best to assume at all times one of the above is around.
@@xnoname223 Yeah ... Middle of the day one wandered in. Over at Fort Wilderness it's funny watching guests try to figure out how to use the bear proof garbage cans. I don't want them to feel bad so I tell them "we have very smart bears"😁
Behind the Panera in Champions Gate, a pretty developed rich area, are ponds with baby gators in them. Always go look to see if they're out when going by. They're very cute.
@@BFTBGSFTST I get a kick out of management that there's a "small" alligator in one of the lakes ... Only 5 or six feet. I posted one time "I'm 5'8"!!!!!" Nobody laughed 😉
😆 🤣 😂 😹 oh yeah!!! We Florida folks all have pet gators. We call them all Fido. They won't bite. Plus , if you believe me, I have some beautiful swamp land you might want to buy.
Now that's funny, I don't care what anyone thinks. Look down here in South Louisiana, gators like this will end up on the dinner table. It's like they are just begging to be eaten. It comes straight to you with no remorse..... Lol. It's like the rabbit going straight up to a fox. It doesn't end well for the rabbit nor the gator.
I’ve went here for vacation multiple times, 2 times something like this happened. The first time I was sitting near waters edge looking at a turtle, and a huge alligator come hissing out. the last time I was there. I was talking to some guy who was fishing, before we know it, we’re both sprinting out of there
Alligators are scary and so fast. I often wonder how many pets are caught and eaten in Florida by alligators, boas, etc. It's sickening to think about.
It’s a small gator, but I would have ran too. I saw one at a golf course in Charleston, but I didn’t see it until I was about 10 feet away while looking for my ball near a pond. I learned to keep an eye out near water really quick.
Was in Louisiana. 12 yr old kid kept feeding gaiters bologna. He was inches from the water. I saw 4 gaiters set of eyes poking up, and gliding closer to him. I told him, I can't save you if one grabs you. I'm from the North. I don't know what to do. They are feet from him, and 3 others behind the 1st one moving up. Luckily his dad yelled at him to stop it...we go inside his shop, and there's a pic of gaiter with man inside it. He swallowed him whole.
That literally just happened and it was heart breaking. Lady had her dog by the edge of the pond. A huge gator went after the dog and she yanked the leash to save him and she fell. Gator took her instead. All caught on video 😢😢
@@nikrixxx6338that's so sad. I've heard or seen many horror stories where gators have eating people including little toddlers.😢Why are they still around🙄 I'm sick of them, snakes and spiders too.😒
@@tranquilanimaljamlover66well u b the test dummy 2 prove it wrong. Ijs They can run up 2 20 mph on land. So yeah tripping nd falling is a GR8 risk factor. There are ponds everywhere along the roads that are full of gators. I went to Daufuski Island in SC,and it was the same. Out of ignorance I stood at the edge of the water just like in the video looking at the baby gators. A local told me that a big gator can lurk below the surface right where I was standing and grab me. That was the end of my daily walk to the edge of the water.
@@HM-debtfree because we let too Many people in from other countries. The actual population before 1990 has been in decline but our government in desperation looking for easy votes keep letting in people who gave NO damn business being here.
So true! ❤🥰❤ Must be an inexperienced Snowbird visting Fla not aware of the danger. Hope the gator didn't attack the man, the children we hear in the video wod be traumatized for life. Does anyone know what the outcome was?
We have a house on a fishing lake in Florida. Let me tell you we see lots of Gators, mostly at night. You can see their eyes just above the water looking at you. Lots of young ones near our property. We have a huge bulkhead separateing the water from the land. We know that if they want on land they can climb over it. We are all fairly close to water throughout FL.
@@jchis9852in a straight line for about 15 yards so zig zag, look for obstacles to jump and don't stop to look back is what we were instructed when we moved to HHI and assume they are in all the waters you see, including pools! so do not get too close.
Never underestimate the power of a handgun to take out an aggressive varmint who thinks he owns the place and you are an easy meal. BANG!!! Problem solved.
And don’t run straight (or so Ive heard) run in zig-zag apparently. Also I’m from the north and have ZERO gator experience/interaction (not looking for any either) so take my advice with a grain of salt 😩. Any fellow Southerner on here please check me if I’m wrong AND please give us some potential life saving advice.
To deal with his shyness, Gatie the Alligator, was told to get out there and meet the neighbors. Later, he was overheard saying, “See? This is why I just eat people instead.”
I searched it up & I found the full video on Google. It wasn't interesting. Basically, the gator stopped when this⬆️ YT short stopped, and the gator chilled on the grass for a bit; that's when more people got NEAR the gator to watch & take video of it but literally got so close to it they were asking to get eaten 😒 Even the gator got tired of the paparazzi and turned back around into the water. The end.
Anyone who grew up in Florida will tell you that you definitely need to have a healthy fear of alligators and crocodiles. Just don't mess with them or around them.
What? I grew up in Florida and from what I've seen, unless you directly harass the animal, it's not going to bother getting up much less chase you. This man was probably asking for it. American alligators are extremely lazy and chill. Hell, I used to go swimming with them.
@@dacksonfluxthat was back in the good old days. It's hard times the interest being so high the mob had to drop thier rates so now folks can actually pay em back theyre less people being tossed in. the gators are starving. and pissed they got to get up and out to even eat some dry white cracker that still has the wrapper on.
Not sure about that, most seem to have little fear of them. Only once did I hear of a man who when he fished he had a six foot rule, and always carried a gun just in case that rule was broken.
Can’t show fear, dude shoulda squared up and been ready to brawl.. lost his man card. On water yea get gone, but on land, you ain’t making me look like a btch.. unless it’s a full grown one lol
@@EmJay57 it’s not about what they know, it’s about what you know. Most predators are quicker, faster and twice as vicious as any human can be. If they perceive you as a threat, i.e. not backing down from a direct challenge or physical threat they interpret it as you are a threat to them. When you turn in run you are nothing more than prey or a pest, and they will kill, maim or seriously injure indiscriminately.
I’ve never seen a live alligator in my life, I’m a west coast mountain girl who now lives in the Rocky Mountains, give me a damn grizzly bear any day. 😂😂😂
I have lived near lakes with alligators in them . The gentleman didn't have a small animal or enough on his hook to attract the alligator that far up to shore. Most likely scenario is the alligator is a female and there is a nest nearby and the guy was close to it. She was just warning him away. Scary scenario though cause this is the first time I scene something like this in a regular public park/ lake.
Years ago myself and a friend were in sanibel Island walking on a dirt road and a gator started chasing us. They are extremely fast and protective. A pickup came down the road and we hopped in the back. Thanks to our guardian angels ❤
Remember everyone: if ever being chased/chargedby gators or croc's to ZIG ZAG while running away. Never run in a straight line. Hopefully, this video ended with the gator stopping and not the much harsher latter possibility that YT is showing it.... A she gator is fierce when she has a clutch of eggs around, which is what this charge looks like to me.
@@kes1667 That running crooked advice never made sense to me. If you zig-zag, your average direction is a straight line. You will cover the same distance in a shorter period of time by running straight.
Growing up in southeast Louisiana, from experience that's the behavior of a female alligator who has a clutch of eggs near the area the man is fishing in.
I was about to say that when I saw your post. A female gator with a clutch of eggs will charge after anything she thinks is a threat, even if isn't. Crocs will, too, but they're not quite as aggressive.
Yeah were not their normal prey, theyre not as aggressive as crocs, theyd rather slink away. If youre in the water and bump into one though, they might bite just cause@@webchamp930
Zigzag doesn't work. Also gators can jump up out of water to grab birds in lower branches. And they can climb over chain link fence and climb some trees. Also Don't jump into swimming pools without checking 1st. Breeding season gators get moving around. Plus they territorial of thier areas.
That’s nonsense 😂 Pure pure nonsense. Running zigzags is a ridiculous myth. An average person can outrun a gator in a straight line and you only have to run about 30ft before they’ll give up. They aren’t built for running period, zigzag or not.
A friend of mine said his son-in-law took this. They were all vacationing together and were walking down the path. His son-in-law turned back because he saw the gator approaching. He posted it not expecting it to go viral. It got over 1.5 million views overnight, two TV stations approached him to buy the rights, and he got an interview out of it too.
That goes for 90% of predators. They weigh their options, and this is survival for them, and if the thing they wanna go after is bigger, most of the time, they dont want to risk getting injured in a fight. They want to sneak attack from behind. So thats good advice. Farmers innrural india would and still do wear masks of human faces on the backs of their heads so tigers think their looking in their direction when theyrs actually facing the other way working. And it does work!
Was about to say you need to add Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana to that list.. I’m in Central Ga and even though TECHNICALLY I’m too far north, I still treat every body of water like there is a Gator.. years ago I was with my husband fishing on the Alabama river.. I was walking down a little way from where the others were standing and saw a huge gator slide and tracks. They were arguing with me that it wasn’t an Alligator until one of his cousins followed it up the bank to a huge female sitting on a nest.. soooo yeah, they are where we don’t think they are
Anything east of the i35 (Texas) is gator territory for me. I didn’t know gators were a thing until I saw a dead one on the shoulder in San Antonio Texas. ( I will never go tubing again)
