When Manly said they usually make scholcky horror games I knew it was the House of Alessa guy, the style of the house near the end reminded me of their other works. They clearly have fun doing whatever but it is cool that they can make something a little more straightforward.

The digitized screaming sounds, the low-tone stingers/music during danger sequences, and the overall ZX Spectrum-looking color palette make me wonder if this is at all inspired by Temple of Apshai. I know it wasn't on the Spectrum, but that style of inverted-looking limited palette is a good descriptor.

Oh, I really like this game! The visual style is really interesting. A lot of death caught me offguard too. And the mystery is definitely intriguing, but, yeah, probably a simulation.
