Fun fact: Love Rap is so difficult in English because the way it’s translated basically makes the audio cues in the voices entirely silent, making it much harder to know when to hit the note. If you learn to play it in Japanese it’s actually very easy

For those curious, the way Monkey Watch works is: - Normal monkeys: Every other beat - one - *TWO* - one - *TWO* - Purple monkeys: Two "offbeats" in a row. An "offbeat" is the point directly between two beats, so if you're counting to the beat of a song, "one and two and three and four and", the "ands" are the off-beats. You can see how this works in the minigame Lockstep from Rhythm Heaven DS. So the transition looks something like this: one - *TWO* - one - *TWO* one *AND* two *AND* one - *TWO* - one - *TWO*

There are no triplets, it seems you're referring to dotted-eighths like 20:31. Dotted eighths are 3/4 of a beat, while triplets would be 1/3 or 2/3 or some third of a beat. The difference is 3 on the top or bottom fraction number.

@@SynoPTLgonna be real with you, music theory has never been my thing, but I have been able to sing competitively for internationally during my time. So while I think I can hear what you’re saying, I can say from my experience as a choral singer that the difference is pretty minor to me and would require a couple hours of practice to get down confidentially. So I still find RT’s ability to do that part and only that part well pretty funny.

@@drawnwithlove3499 Yes and no, kind of. I agree with you on Exhibition Match but in most cases if you're struggling with the rhythm to begin with it's going to be hard to keep that counting in time. I also think it depends heavily on the person. I know I tend to do worse on many of these counting to myself versus letting the music take me, but I also wouldn't say I have bad rhythm.

Some of my personal favorite scenarios in other games include a girl having a sleepover on a giant bed with 24 monkeys, a person kicking a soccer ball up with their legs in space, birds training for the military, quickly eating dumplings so fast that it qualifies as an act for the circus, lizards dancing to mate with each other, and a girl singing and putting on a concert to sing about love for an audience of monkeys. Rhythm Heaven is bonkers and I love every second of it.

I had gotten Superbs first try on almost all the games before Monkey Watch. For Monkey Watch, it took me over 10 tries to get an OK. Spent two more hours on it trying to get a Superb and failed miserably. Made me rage quit. Haven't touched RHF in over a year, yet those damn fucking monkeys continue to haunt my dreams

I was legit berating Dan's timing until I managed to purchase a copy of the game for myself. I'd hate to be that guy, but uh, latency on the controllers is a real bitch. And can I just say, the A+B alterations are mad taxing on the fingers... I think I've got carpal tunnel in my thumb and forefinger from how hard I was gripping the controller. Safer to watch than play lmao
