Today is Day 4 of our Marella Caribbean cruise and we visit the lovely island of St Maarten. Nice easy beach day by water taxi, join us as we relax on the beach and explore the town. We also do a bit of shopping at the Broad Street shops onboard. Great 80's evening show and a late late night snack at the 'Kitchens'. Hope you are enjoying these daily diaries. A big welcome to Day 4 of our Caribbean Marella Cruise. Today we are at an island that we have always loved but never got further than the beach by the Port. Thought about the beach by the airport which looks so dramatic but never made it. What are we missing? Would love to hear about your experiences on St Maarten. The Voyager is exactly the same as the Explorer class in design but i am glad that Marella have added the Exchange and Silver Fork. The Kitchens is also unique to the Voyager but i wasn't so much a fan of that. 🚢🚢🚢🌞🌞🌞🍹🍹🙂😎😎😎

I so wanted to go but unfortunately i was outvoted. Was such a stress free easy day for us. Hopefully if we ever get there again i will go, i have seen many you tube vids and it looks amazing when they come in to land and even more so when they take off! Great price on the taxi, do you arrange for the taxi to come back and get you or are there plenty of taxis at airport beach to get back? 🛩🛩🛩

@@midatravel you got a wrist band and they had a stand with them coming every 10mins with last departure time for the criseships, very easy and organised. Next time 😉 PS saw 737 coming in and the jet stream too ✈️

Cheers Harold, sounds so organised, if I had known that I may have been able to sway the rest of my party. I will win the argument next time armed with this info! Not every day you get to see a 737 that close up when it's flying! At least I have a good reason to return now! @@haroldbetterson1877

I forgot to ask, did you get anything to eat at the beach? Can you recommend anything? Many thanks guys xxx❤ Also was it 25 dollars for the 2 sunbeds, and parasol and an extra 15 dollars for the Caribe? I'm getting toooooo excited 😂😂❤

Hi Kary. We did not get anything to eat at the beach. We only usually like a few hours on the beach and tend to go back for lunch and spend afternoon on the ship. You have it right. It was 25 dollars for 2 sunbeds, parasol and wifi. It was extra 15 dollars for the 6 beers. You can get food all the way along that promenade so you won't have any problems finding something nice, think they had a bar-b-q going outside one of the restaurants so that was tempting! We love St Maarten, such a simple easy day. Hope you love it as much as we do. 😎

Love these videos- went to Greece with Marella solo last year and loved it, and I'm planning to go on this itinerary with my dad as I want to go to Guadaloupe and also saw that going to Mustique is possible on an excursion! My Dad is fully expecting to get off the ship in port and start fishing though, did you happen to see anyone doing that, or on the beach? 😂 I can't imagine its allowed in most places!

Hi Louisa, thanks for watching and your lovely comments. I applaud your bravery as a solo traveller but how nice to be going with your dad on the next one. Its a fabulous cruise, we loved it. Now for fishing, unfortunately i don't believe fishing at any of the ports is allowed so you would probably have to go further afield although we did not see people fishing at any of the beaches we went to. Not to say it does not happen just we were not really looking for it. I think your best bet is to look at local companies who offer fishing trips, you could probably charter a boat but now your talking big money. I can't recall seeing any fishing trips on the Tui excursions but check out our excursion videos. I hope you manage to find some opportunity but think it will be difficult. 🙄

I did think it was wishful thinking about the fishing, doesn't bother me I'd much rather read a book and my dad wont want to pay to go on a boat 😂 but we are going to scotland first this year so hopefully that will make up for it haha Fully reccomend the aegean shores Marella cruise, I had a great time and felt completely comfortable as a solo traveller (except for the people asking me why I was on my own) :)

HI We just return from a Marella Cruise over in Cuba we followed lots of your advice from your visit , just wondering as you seem to enjoy Marella quite a lot how do you usually book and tips on the best deals. thanks and keep up the good work I enjoy watching.

Hi, thanks so much for watching, glad you found the advice useful. We usually book our trips online but we have found with cruises that we are better going to our local Tui travel agent. The staff in there are so friendly and as someone there has usually been on the ship they are able to offer lots of information and to answer any questions we may have. They are also able to book a lot of things a lot sooner than you may be able to online. Regards timing and best deals, definitely subscribe to mailing lists, ideally we have found that a cruise can be a lot cheaper if you book last minute. We saw our recent cruise as much as £500 cheaper if we had left it and gone last minute but of course this can be risky and cruise may be sold out. If you do go to a travel agent they have always got discount they can apply, we have always pushed them for a little bit more and they usually have a bit extra discount they can apply. The other thing is to let them know what you want and your budget and ask them to call you if something suitable becomes available. Hope this helps and thanks again for watching. 🚢🚢🚢🌞🌞🌞🍹🍹😎

Hi we are due to go on the voyager in March around the carribean. Just a quivk question around cash and do you have to pay alot in cash or do most places in port take card. Beaches, lounges, shops etc. Thanks in advance love the tips from the vids

Hi, thanks for watching. You raise a very good question. We have the next two diary video's ready to go out but I will include this point in our Day 7 'Dominica' video diary. But to give you a quick answer. We had cards that were widely accepted everywhere. We took $150 in small denominations as they are accepted on every island, these we only had to use for tips for excursions and sunbeds, although a lot are tied up to the bars so imagine if you wanted you could pay by card. We used up what we hadn't spent at the end at the airport duty free. We also took £50 in Euro's for Guadaloupe which we didn't need to use so it's in a pot for next European holiday . Be sure if you do pay in dollars and need change you get that in dollars and not local currency. Also be aware not to accept any ripped bank notes, they are worthless and won't be accepted. Hope this all helps and we will include this in the Dominica video. Many thanks. It's a great cruise, wish I was going again!

Sorry to bother you again! Just a quick question regards to dress code etc. We have read that in the evening it's trousers and collar shirts etc. Are they strict on this or are shorts and t shirt allowed? Thank you again

No bother at all, we are happy to try and help with any question we can. Whatever you read is wrong, we wore smart shorts and a polo most evenings, they do have a dress to impress night to which we wore long trousers and a polo/shirt, we also tended to dress a bit smarter for the speciality restaurants but you can basically dress as you wish as long as you are not turning up in vest, swimwear/shorts or flip flops, These are ok in the day for snack shack, nonnas/abuellas, the kitchens. Its all fairly relaxed which we love about Marella. @@Wycherley275
