A Marines Malevolent Christmas Carol | a Warhammer 40k story 

Not even an "unexpected" victory by threatening a commonly despised chapter can save the Raven Guard from being the dullest Legion in the lore of Warhammer 40k. Seriously each battle report following the Corvus Corax and his pals from Deliverance as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy overused goth theme, the chapters’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of cliched tropes, all to make stealth obvious, to make action seem inert. Perhaps the die was cast when Malcador vetoed the idea of the Emperor to give them any actual human traits; he made sure the legion would never be mistaken for an astartes chapter that meant anything to anybody. Just ridiculously profitable goth fanbase absorption into the imperium. The Raven Guard successor chapters might be anti-dickishness (or not), but they're certainly the anti-Blood Angels in their refusal of grimdark, depth and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to. >a-at least their good at stealth and night aesthetics though "No!" Their background is dreadful; their modus operandi is terrible. As I studied them, I noticed that every single one of their qualities are much better fulfilled and given actual thought in the Night Lords. They are a faction with no personality, no discernable faults that make them humanizing or compelling to an intellect above a walnut. They are for Edge-Lords who are too fragile to actually carry out the actions they want and can't love a fictional organization unless they are 100% on board with everything they do morally. GW literally created them so that their over bloated over jerked imperium roster could include a safe, not edgy SPACE MARINE product line to sell to goths who are too afraid to be judged for their tastes. I began marking on a diary every time that something genuinely unique to them happened. I stopped only after I had realized that after multiple novels, the diary was still in store condition, not a single inch of it marked with ink. I was incredulous. The Raven Guard are so governed by clichés and dead motifs that they have no other style of action. Later I read a lavish, loving review of a sample of Raven Guard novels by the same C.S.Goto. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these half-hearted edgelords are reading "Son's of Corax at entry state, then when they get bored they will go on to read C.S.Goto." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read a Raven Guard book you are, in fact, trained to read C.S.Goto.

That Raven Guard moment made it for me. And people ask how could the Carcharodons be a successor chapter.

I remain firmly baffled by how you made, for all intents and purposes, a jpeg slideshow so fun to watch and enjoy.

Conclusions: Grey Knights probably like Salamanders enough to let them go even after being accused of Heresy because everyone loves Salamanders. Yeah, Raven Guard are fucking terrifying. They might not be Night Lords, but don't mess with Corvus´s kids. You will regret it.
