The victim shaming by a few people here is frustrating. Ashsh is one of the nicest and most trustworthy guys in the industry. The case wasn’t “unattended” he had 3 full grown men watching it. In fact, the only reason that Ashsh wasn’t there was because he was helping a friend - it just further verifies his character. There were event security as well as at least 1 police officer in the room. Whether it was insured or not, or he had an AirTag on it or if he had taken any other precautions, really doesn’t matter. The only people to blame here are the scumbags who canvased the show, found the best stuff and knew exactly which briefcase to take. There is zero chance that this was insurance fraud or “inside job” - just a terrible thing happening to a really good dude. Let’s find these jokers and get Ashsh his cards back.

Serious question, Does everyone have pictures of and a list of recorded serial numbers for all their graded cards? I have pictures of and a list of all serial numbers for insurance purposes and just in case something like this happens. Isn't this the norm? I hope the dealer has good records to help with insurance and the criminal investigation. However, I think it's safe to assume all those cards are already broken out of the slabs by now so that's going to make prosecution more difficult.

It’s a pretty big risk having that kind of dollars just sitting there. A bank would use a brinks truck to move $80,000+ based on level of risk. kind of makes you think doesn't it? who in the world would leave that kind of collection behind, with young oblivious staff there, not even under strict instructions to watch the case? I would like to know if Ash is getting 1.5 mil from an insurance claim soon. I'm not really buying any of this. Those 4 guys hardly look like vintage sports collector's; they were obviously hired to do this by someone. And how many people could be sure the case would be unattended at some point? Random people would think that case would never be left alone. This whole story is off. At best, it's one of the staff members who set it up, at worst it's insurance fraud. And you can know which it is simply by finding out if Ash has the collection insured.

For high value cards can't they do a scanning electron log of the cards surface? Say send it in, it gets scanned and its unique surface composition, down to a micro level is logged into a database, giving it it's own thumbprint. So when bad guys try to sell it'd have to go through that process again to make sure it's not stolen. I mean it's a whole lot of added elements to the process but hell these are valuable cards.

Why? Im serious. Why would you steal these? The amount of work these guys will have to go thru to sell these cards will be immense. If you stole $2 million worth of gold you could melt it and sell it but these cards are serialized. Even if they took them out the plastic they would have to regrade everything and whoever grades them will probably have to contact police because of suspicious activity. They also didnt do a good job of hiding who they were. Im sure movies make this type of stuff believable but in reality these thieves have stuff thats going to be hard to sell. Its always possible they find a collector willing to take the chance to buy this stuff for 1/3 of the cost but i would just take the $70000 reward and turn them in. Reading some of these backwoods, uneducated comments is absolutely mind boggling. Victim blaming - accusations of it being an inside job or insurance scam - all by people who don’t know Ash at all and can’t afford even one of the cards that were stolen. Sad.

These dudes were likely back across the Mexican border by Monday. Wide open border equals all sorts of new criminals entering our country doing stuff like this.

Inside job. No way some one leaves 2 million dollars in cards just hanging out. Also who really knows what cards were taken....only the dealer. He can just say it was all my mickeys and they were mint....so shady

It was the end of the show. Everyone was packing up & going home. Over half their stuff was packed & taken down. These criminals put together a coordinated plan to distract everyone at once. Notice hardly anyone is even there anymore, it was the perfect storm to distract & steal. All you guys saying it's the dealer's fault for leaving $2M in cards "laying around" are probably the same type of guys that say a girl drinking in a bar with a skimpy skirt is asking to be assaulted🙄

Some real "L" takes here guys. Victim blaming and racism. Nice. Man the hobby has gotten toxic.
@colinburroughs9871
@colinburroughs9871 20 дней назад
no bigger L than not being able to spell "victim" though.. pointing out that Texas is a border state isn't racism and pointing out that it's possible the victim didn't pay enough attention are both fine observations/postulations.

Who in their right mind would leave that case unattended though for real....2 million dollars worth of cards in there????? Zero chance I leave it for a split second

@@colinburroughs9871 yeah, misspelling a word is a much bigger "L" than being a prick. I'm sure that guy would have said the same thing (except about Canada I wanna spell this out so you can't pretend to be stupid again) had this happened in Minnesota or Michigan.
