A Mesmerising Autumnal Morning Walk in the Cotswold Village of Notgrove

So, today we are out and about walking in the Cotswold village & civil parish of Notgrove, which is located in the county of Gloucestershire, England. The village is approximately 28 miles (17 km) to the east of the city of Gloucester and almost 4.5 miles (7 km )east of it's post town Cheltenham. Notgrove was listed in the Domesday book of 1086 under Nategrave which is derived from an old English meaning "wet grove or Copse". The population in the village stood at 184 in 2011.
The parish church is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew and is of Norman origins, it is also believed that the church lies on the site of a Saxon cemetery.
Notgrove once had it's own railway station which was on the Banbury & Cheltenham Direct Railway.
If like me, you are quite partial to Cotswold dry stone walling then you are in for a real treat in this village. Notgrove is an incredibly beautiful & mesmerising village.

Thanks for those minutes filming the Trees. I love Trees. Love Nature in general but Trees, Flowers and Animals, are my thing. The different sounds of nature I find them so healing....including silence 🤎🍃🍃

Thank you for another delightful and beautiful stroll, posted for us to enjoy virtually as we “walk” with you. Early morning has always been my favorite time of day, so I especially appreciate the ambiance contained in these dawn-of-day walks. I am always surprised that you seldom encounter other people when out, as I would expect others to be wanting to walk or jog and enjoy this wonderful time of day. However, perhaps they are busy indoors. (I heard some cows 🐄 mooing, so I definitely know that there is a busy farmer inside of the barn, tending to their needs 🙂). Have a great day!

Hi, Janet. Lovely to hear from you this weekend. Thank you very much for your nice comment. I know what you mean about early mornings being the best time of day, one of the benefits is it is nice to be able to hear just the wildlife without the interruption of man-made noise pollution as a new dawn is welcomed in. During the summer months I am out and about really early (like 4:30 am early) which is great for early morning walks but yes I do occasionally see other people whilst out and if I notice them in good time I usually try to pull of a funky camera move to hide their presence and the same goes for passing traffic (a little trick of the trade :)). Your lovely comment has given me an idea for a future video title, so thanks very much for that also, Janet :). Have a good Saturday. OAAW

Such a peaceful and quiet village. Almost looks like the homes are either abandoned, vacant or just not home or late risers. How'd you manage to get past the "advanced gating system" ? Clamour, scramble or a running jump over the fence, wall, or hedge? You came face to face with the Wooly Bully. He looked like he was saying Who you looking at? Or where'd you think you're going? lol. You managed to get into the Church yard. Was getting out any easier? Only to meet Wool y again.lol. You've been a busy ambler/walker. Two videos in a week. Beautiful brick lanes, the sound of birds & meadows still green. Such a breathtaking walk. Recovering from dental surgery so this was just what I needed, was trying to put it off to come across the pond but.....thank you for such an enchanting, magical & cheerful walk. An easeful meander through a beautiful place. I find myself obsessing over the irregular beauty of stone buildings and walls. As someone who hasn't the foggiest notion of construction, architecture or masonry and more used to the regularity of brick work, I can never figure out how it is possible to put these stones together in such a way that they make a straight wall or a house. It seems impossible like one of those abstract paintings of Paul Klee. Anyway, beautiful video as always. I love seeing a completely red-leafed tree nestled in among those who haven't quite figured out it's mid-Autumn. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your comment. I can very much relate to what you say, as I think in a way it’s a bit like listening to music (just an analogy) we don’t have to know how an orchestra works to appreciate the good music, so in my mind the same applies to all the beautiful architecture, we can still very much enjoy it without having the knowledge of how it is so masterfully & wonderfully constructed. A lot of trees really seem to taking longer this autumn to change colour. Thanks very much for your kind support. All the best to you.
