What a Gentleman. I can only imagine the thoughts that were going through his mind as he was standing there listening to that Orchestra. The number of times he would have climbed into his Aircraft, not knowing if he would see Home again. It Brings a tear to my Eye just thinking about it. RIP Sir.
One very beautiful Lady and THE epitome of the word Gentleman in the same video. I go see Just Jane at least twice a year and it never gets old. I also feel extremely honoured and privileged to have met 'Johnny' Johnson at the East Kirkby airshow when he was there with Mary Stopes-Roe and Len Goodwin. Lovely men. So humble but still with that twinkle in their eyes. Both men referred to as Sir and Mary referred to as Mrs Stopes-Roe at all times. Len and Mary now gone but never forgotten
Present for my husband and I when married Sept 2014, taxi ride in Just Jane! Unbelievable! Canadian Lancaster was over & we met both crews! At Bluebell Inn and Pettwood Hotel with VIP talk at BBMF hanager! Saw Lancs at Duxford too! Best honeymoon ever! So proud to be from Lincoln, that's why hubby married me I reckon! He's a Jersey Man!
Sadly I have not met Johnny that would be a privilege, but I have had a taxi run in Just Jayne sitting in the wireless operator seat bought for my 60th birthday by my wife and then we were both allowed in the pilot’s seat, a day we will never forget.
I'm very proud to say I've a signed, Avro Lancaster photograph - on it is George 'Johnny' Johnson's autograph. I'm made up about it, because he's 617 squadron and it's going up beside my night cockpit lamp with red lens (5C/366).

Patricia Bracken : Correction, this Lancaster was produced at the Austin Motor Works, Longbridge, Birmingham in April 1945. All the MkVII Lancaster’s were built at Longbridge. Austin had two shadow factories, one at Longbridge East Works where they built the fuselages and wings, then they were transferred over to Austin’s second shadow factory at Elmdon (now Birmingham Airport) where the final construction and testing was carried out. I trust this of help.
My uncle Ken G Skudder was a navigator with this squadron. He came from Northland NZ to Canada for training, was in Mosquitos the after some very fancy navigating to get the crate back was transfered to 617 Squadron to make better use of his skills
Only trouble is that BBMF are not licensed to carry civilians so I'd have to save up to go to Canada and have a flight in Vera. That will cost some pennies. Does anyone want to start a Gofundme page? Dream come true for me.
