just got one for christmas, very fun to use. fell off the couch and rolled down the stairs when it was on drums mode and it was hilarious the sounds it made
Just got my Orba and I love just "playing" with it so far, but I'm here to learn about how to use it as a MIDI controller, since I don't really have any software or a DAW installed on my PC yet.
: ) grabbed an annual premium Skillshare plan from your link & looking forward to enriching the grey matter. Ordered my Orba a couple weeks ago thinking it will be a nice fit with my lightblocks and iPad Pro studio set up. Next month I’ll pick up a keystep Pro.
16:00 this is where the Orba really shines for me personally... bass patterns. On my Akai controller I usually overthink the basslines, but with the Orba held in my hand I've created some really nice patterns with my thumbs. It's weird how it felt so natural, like I immediately upped my bassline game.
I had never heard of the Akai product line before, just learned about it a yesterday. My nephew Akai was born in 2020, during the hype of Cobra Kai (I'm sure it's just a coincidence). Having said that, I've been binge watching anything I can find on it the Akai mini vs the plus model. So of course Al Gore's Rhythm at Amazon sent me down the ORBA rabbit hole. I'm thinking about getting one of these to make beats so that I can practice playing guitar over them. Do you love them or just like them?
Audi MIDI Setup... Whenever I need to make changes to this, I'm reminded of the incredibly useful, if clunky, E-Magic SoundDiver and how Apple destroyed it when they consumed E-Magic to get their hands on Logic. I think I used Logic on my PC for about 6 months before I lost support. Still have all my Unitor and AMT8 units though. Back to the Orba, looks like a nice device. Good price too
I give my order last year, as a backer, and I still only have an update on how shipping will start soon. it was supposed to be a birthday present, but it might arrive by next spring
depends on where you order, I mean the country. I am from Croatia and I am not expecting anything, because I do not have any information or tracking number. just a few updates, where it says it will be next month, and so for months ...
I liked mine when it worked. Sadly though it became an expensive paperweight after the battery failed to charge. Customer support was responsive, but not effective. Hope the company is able to do better in the future.
Hey I just got mine fixed after not using it for 1yr.. charge it for at least and hour. - hold down the power button for about 15 secs - Plug in your usb to your computer - if your on Windows PC press(Power and Volume down button to see if Windows see the USB Press again ) open up the desktop app - set it to usb mode - hold down the shift button on your keyboard and click on the update cloud icon its grayed out. let me know it this works for you.
One thing I didn’t see you touch one was adjusting keys, is that pretty straight forward? (Maybe I missed it) but for instance in chord mode.. how are you manually setting which key you’d like to be playing in. Thanks! Great work!
What’s the best way of recording your onboard recorded song (made on the Orba itself) so you have it saved somewhere, since the Orba 2 app has the “save” button suspended? What cables and connection to use… Thank you very much>
I’d be really interested to see how the orba might link with the OP-Z over Bluetooth. Haven’t received mine yet. Hoping I can use it with OP-Z for more organic performance. Thanks for the video👍👍
Mixed views on this machine. Ultimately, it seems like an interesting midi controller (although only 8 pads is limited), but this was also sold as a stand-alone instrument - and in practice the options really aren't there yet to justify that.
I just got my Teespring Taetro shirt tonight in the mail, it looks great in grey with you holding the keyboard above your head. I love that you know your stuff and you're willing to share your knowledge. That's why I purchased your merchandise. Please keep up the great work and producing more videos !! I would love to purchase some of your music with a royalty free license that I could use for eLearning projects.
If you look at the manual, every gesture in the Orba corresponds with an specific CC number. When you map the parameter, type that number in, instead of touching the Orba. It works like a charm in my Orba 2 I got a couple of days ago.
Is it possible to get data from orba to Ableton if it is running On a pc. ? Or is the case that this only works with Ableton on an iMac ? I see the Bluetooth is iOS specific …in one other comment
I tried buying this last january online. I got so hyped about it because it was so fucking cool! What i didnt know what was Artiphon was releasing them maybe it was around april??? Anyways, I got scammed and got a $20 speaker instead.....
The preset drum patches are all very much the same. First impressions are disappointing, at least with the Orba presets. I want to like this thing. I think I’ll love it as a Bluetooth midi though
Artiphon is a scam company. We are hundreds of KS backers who have paid early 2020 for the Orba and have never received it (it's not only left the Chinese warehouse), Artiphon do not care at all about customers
I just got mine as a Christmas present. I wasn't a part of Kickstarter. Where as most, if not all, of what you say is true, I choose to believe that Artiphon are just a bit in over theirs heads at the moment, and might have released it a bit prematurely. There are definately a few things wrong with the software, but I'm hoping that they will actually fix it. And hopefully they wont get to much bad review and go bankrupt before they manage to fix it all. :) Having said that, the device itself works beautifully and it's loads of fun to play on. My kids love it too.
It's pretty simple to figure out... 1 company, using exclusive software for only their computers, vs the accepted industry standard, used by all other computer companies... hp, Dell, Alienware etc.etc... simple logic bud
Or we can think logically about what the average person can afford, and unlike u fancy California folk, most humans can't afford a mac... guess u gotta get outta ur Cali box a bit
Hi Taetro, hi folks, is there any way to route the MIDI data from Android to PC? I have the Orba right here and I'm quite disappointed that it's not working with windows 10 over Bluetooth LE. For a handheld device that's unacceptable! Anybody here knowing about a workaround?
