Majestic! All glory, majesty, power and praise be to HIM, our Great High King of Heaven WHO is crowned with many crowns, Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ, soon coming on the clouds of Glory! HalleluYah!
Holy crap FINALLY SOMEONE WHO PLAYS WITH A PAUSE IN THE FIRST 2 STANZAS!!! You know how many THOUSANDS of renditions in hundreds of churches (reformed mostly but also non-reformed) I’ve had to SUFFER through by not being allowed to breathe?? 😅 Other than the little rural church I grew up in, nobody else in the world seems CAPABLE OF GRASPING THE PAUSE!!!! Great playing brother!! ♥️👍😎🙏👏
Brother I Fully agree with you!!!! I don't know why so many renditions do that!!!! Musically its terrible!!! There is a NATURAL feel and need to pause after musical Phrase which is a Sentence in Sound!!
Yeah, I have to wonder if the original German version of the hymn had that pause, though. Something to think about if something got lost in translation.
a man after my own heart for sure...whether you're singing or playing a wind instrument you need air!!!! Wait a minute, aren't vocal chords a wind instrument??? :)
Fabulous playing, Robert! Thank you for leaving time to breathe. This may be called the "Battle Hymn of the Reformation", but whatever you may have to battle out in life, you have to breathe and give it time. It's not meant to be a rush or chase to see who gets finished first! Fully agree with williamsdog9's remark below! Thank you Robert and keep the good playing up!
Sounds GREAT! I love that you're not afraid to pump up the bass notes - I can see the vibrations in the camera so I can feel it from here! Well done. :)
Chris Oelkers version of this has long been a favorite of mine here. This version may have surpassed that excellence. Bravo, well done! Powerful. Superb! Thankyou
Well well. one of my favorite hymns and I enjoyed. Please don't play it in a hurry, add more legato and mix the dynamics ie f, ff, p, pp and some flares like thrills. just relax but remember I appreciate your playing. I would love to hear you play again. I have subscribed
@Pierre Metayer: Hinduism had Sri Krishna, Islam -- Muhammad, & Zoroaster was for ZOROASTERISM. Along w/ Moses, Abraham & Jesus. All were divine teachers, avatars or manifestations sent by God to give mankind new teachings. Now, the Bab, & Baha'u'llah (the Glory of God) r here for the next thousands of years. Jesus said, 'I will return in the 'glory of God'. Baha'u'llah came in the 1800s to fulfill that promise. 'Were man to appreciate the greatness of his station & the loftiness of his destiny. He would manifest naught save goodly character, pure deeds, & a seemly & praiseworthy character ... By virtue of the love he cherisheth for God." Tablets of Baha'u'llah p. 172 He has come to unite the world!
(For clarification I’m talking about the pause between 14 & 15 seconds… in case nobody understood my comment. 99% of churches remove this natural pause for some unknown reason ..)
Really needed to hear this!!! And were those bagpipes.....how do they fit them in the Organ? Lol. So cool...thank you! From, Michigan's Upper Peninsula
I know this has been a year since you wrote this, but those sound like chorus reed pipes. I think those are Trompette en Chamade pipes, but I may be wrong.
There are two versions of the hymn. There is a rhythmic version (which is the one I am playing) and an isometric version. The isometric is much slower. I played this one a bit faster than I would normally play for congregational singing, as I was not accompanying a congregation -- but, I wasn't playing it much faster. It really is meant to be an upbeat and brisk hymn. The problem with many churches is that organists/pianists drag the music out, and the music becomes a funeral march more than a rejoicing and celebrating of the faith.
It's the way it is written in the hymnal I am playing out of, and most church''s sing it entirely too slow. It is meant to be sung with fervor and vigor -- keep moving, don't drag.
I am not playing for a choir or congregation jack***. And, I am playing it as written in the hymnal that I am playing out of. Take your snarky stuff somewhere else please.
