I could see this as a neat way to show others what you’ve been working on. It’s one thing to see it on social media, but this is more tangible and almost feels like a product you made. Saving up $80 now! Thanks man!
Honestly that was my reason to buy it. Just wanted a neat display that could feature some of my art, but man... this gadget blew me away. I'm over 30 yo and I was playing with it and app for many days like a kid with his dream birthday gift. It boosted my creativity, it allow me a new way of learning by editing community made art in a simple way and finally made me 100% confident in 16px format which I was cool with but avoided when possible. 80 quid of well spend money
Haha this is awesome, and love the way you did your intro (and outro) on this small thing! Keep up the great content, pretty soon I swear you'll have several hundreds of thousands of subs
Awesome vid once again Brandon, found your stuff last week and I'm floored at how high the quality is! Love the look of this lil thing too, much love from Scotland :D
Thanks for making this review! I saw one of these in an electronics store but I wasn't sure if it was worth getting or not with its high price. But now that I know more of its features (thanks to you) I'm sure it's worth the price now!
Just found your channel, it's great! A random video idea: how to angle your "camera" for isometric style stuff. I've noticed that some art and games seem to be "true isometric" while other tend to show the terrain from above but the sprites from the side.
I was already super happy when you made my sword suggestion a thing, smiled even harder when I saw you using it to teach people more about pixel art! :) Thank you so much!
@@BJGpixel As long as you keep making content, I'll be sure to watch it. You rekindled my love for pixel art and although I have become quite rusty your videos are really inspiring and helpful! ❤️
this been on my wishlist to and TBH this is the best review, ditoo introduction video. ever. very thorough and makes me wanna make my wish come true so well done what a video🦄🦄🦄
Lol had one of these sitting around for a while (the TV one). I've discovered your channel a week ago, and my mum find that thing yesterday in a closet... And now I find this video with you talking about that thing. What a coincidence! The quality of the speakers are pretty good (the best I've seen for a speaker this size actually) and the build quality overall too.
The disslike button function doesn't exist anymore for probably more then 5 years by now, well it does but as a public viewer you can't see the stats disslike and like ratio. Just the positive. Only the video owner can see this data in the "YT studio" page. The two main reasons why it was removed from public access are 1 because people abused it 2 because evil agendas that are being pushed to the masses had millions some almost billion disslikes which didn't do favors to the agenda pushers, since Google is evil in general they were forced to remove it from public view but still the option is there Safe to say it was mostly due to 2 and not much reason number 1 And as for the comments in general the disslike button on them have zero function. YT is running on broken and unfinished codes for 10 years or so and they always run some agenda and make this place the worst experience possible. They never fix things the user needs but they only fix parts of what Google needs to run their crap, it always been like this and it will get only worse. Edit: Just to make it clear, this is not me bashing the product in the video, it's more about the OP comment about disslikes... I actually like this device in the video granted the price is bit too much, it's still creative, useful and great overall.
Imma just get the display one, I'd only use it for that and I can code so it would actually give me more control with just a display. (ie making a custom alarm with my own animations)
Wooow the 16x16 Outrun sun! You actually did it, and it looks so good!! 😱 The Arizona can too, man that's remarkable! I've had an eyeball Divoom's pixel displays for a while now, I guess I'll pick one up soon cuz this is too convincing! :)
Lol thanks again for the suggestions! I had fun figuring out how to make the Arizona can work; 16x16 is actually pretty versatile! Guess I'll be looking out for a Divoom vid from you one day haha! ;D
It's an alarm clock, a mini-arcade, a display screen, a Bluetooth speaker, and comes with extra clickiness. I think you'll find that it's a positive value for the price..
Just wanted to say that I really appreciate how you explain the process in creating pixel art. I recently go into learning pixel art and your channel is my favorite resource in learning. I quite enjoy how you breakdown everything you're doing, even the mental thoughts you go through since it's a nice way for the viewer to get into the headspace of how to do it for themselves. Even in this video which is more posed as a product review, you had some interesting insight on how to make some pixel art. For all that, I thank you! =D
Looks awesome; thought I was really hoping from the title you could make pixel art directly onto the device rather than having to use your phone as an intermediary
Woah, this is awesome! Could you maybe to some sort of in-depth tutorial for this device specifically? I’ve seen your other tutorials and they’re all really good, so I was wondering if you could make one for this as well!
Yooo this is so cool, 80$ is a little too much for a novelty item right now for me so it's either wait till I can afford it or DIY with arduino. Coolest gadget ever tho and the backpack seemed cool too. Great introduction to this company.
This is so cute. I know it defeats the purpose, but I wish this was 32x32. I'm a pixel artist / game artist too, and a bit more detail while still looking retro would've been really cool.
Minecraft textures are 16x16, so maybe there could be a plugin for image editors that detects when your image is 16x16 and display it on the screen. It would be very useful for making minecraft texture packs!
wow, I've always wanted to have a mini television, but I think 16 pixel is too little, but I'm not going to lie to you, it looks great. I do not know why, but I like the idea of having a mini TV with the Internet, and that it looks old, but that it can be seen as a current screen, both can be in your set up, if you are a gamer or something like that. it's great
Totally, I've got a small CRT for my Super Famicom, and also an HDMI-to-Composite so I can run my laptop through it. The resolution gets kinda messed up, but it's awesome to browse the internet or watch vids through it :D
Discovered your channel recently, and I'm loving it. I'm a game developer, so making sprites is a skill that I lack but desire. I also play a lot of Minecraft, and maps there can be used to create pixel art. I'm wondering if you'd be interested in doing any pixel art style stuff in Minecraft?
speaking of 16x16 pixel art, you should make a minecraft texture pack! the minecraft textures are 16x16, and i bet it would make a good video! keep up the good work :)
Can you make pixel art with the device interface itself? Or just through the editor? Wondering if this could effectively work as a 'distraction-free' device for wandering minds. Still cool either way!
That's exactly what PIX should do with their app. Before the update the editor was OK. It was usable you could with one click switch with paint and erase. Now you have to switch between with 3 clicks witch makes the whole process waaay slower. Also there's just few pallets to choose from. Fortunately you can upload your own animations and there's no speed and frame limit so it's not that bad. Syncing is slow, connection is unreliable and the backpack started tearing a tiny bit at the top.
This probably isn't the place to ask, but have you tried using the MicroSD slot? I bought two of these guys after watching this review, and was intrigued by its supposed MP3 player capabilities... But am having an embarrassingly difficult time actually inserting a card into the slot. I just wanna know if that's normal or not.
Update: Apparently, you have to insert the MicroSD upside-down. Which is, uh... Really odd. And the MP3 browser in the companion app leaves quite a bit to be desired. It's still pretty neat as a pixel art display, and I'm actually oddly impressed that it included an MP3 player function at all, but it does seem a little half-baked in that respect.
