FOR THE RECORD. And I hope everyone else sees this... I do not hate Band-Maid. I quite enjoyed their song Domination. I was DISAPPOINTED in this song because I expect greater from them. NOW if you tell me this is their BEST song, then I would question YOUR musicality. But it IS everything I said. It's a simple song to appeal to the lowest common denominator of a fan. A "FUN" song to put out and to enjoy. Challenging? Only if you haven't been listening to music like this for decades (I certainly have been.. ) Do I think that they are performing to the best of their abilities? NO. I do not. Reading in between the lines in a love song isn't that hard to do. Honestly, all of this hate/judgement/and whatever else you guys are throwing at me, makes me not want to react to this band again. No matter how GOOD they are. But you know what? I WILL keep reacting to it. And giving my honest opinions every single time. Because MY humanity is tied to my honesty. If you can't handle the fact that I didn't like ONE song by your favorite band in the world, then I don't know what to tell you. For context for those of you out there who insist my musical taste is garbage... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XUloS8Co2_U.html
I disagree with what you said and, moreso, how you said it, BUT it’s classless for people to put you down personally for it. Back to Band Maid, I think your opinion of the musicianship will improve the more you hear. They play all kinds of styles, some more technical than others.
No one can force you to like or dislike something, and even if you don't like it, I don't see any problem with it. However, when you speak in such a place, there are many fans, so you should consider how you say things and your attitude. I think you all were offended by that.
Yes. I have been playing music for nearly 35 years. And, yes, I typically go back to the classics, when they didn't have all the technology to spice things up. Doesn't it speak volumes that our LAST reaction to this band, Domination, left me speechless? I LOVED that song. But it appears to me that unless I absolutely adore EVERYTHING this band puts out, I get needlessly shamed for everything I am.
For me..Kanami Tōno, lead guitarist and composer, is most impressive musician of the 21st Century. Pure genius as a composer, always compose to the whole band, not herself, playin’ her guitar just what serves the song most. Love it! Magical band, amazing musicians 🔥🤘❤️
I am 54 years old and have experience in different types of music. I didn't think there was any hope in this industry until I discovered Band-Maid. A good band is one that creates, writes and puts together songs. The variety of their music and styles makes them the best of the moment.
Your boyfriend is comparing a hard rock band to a power metal band lol. I like Lovebites, they are friends of Band Maid and attended Band Maid's 10th anniversary concert. Their guitarists are impressive from a technical standpoint but there is nothing original in their music or guitar solos. Kanami, the lead guitarist and writer of all Band Maid songs is infinitely more creative and a damn good lead guitarist in her own right. In my opinion, Band Maid is one of the most impressive and versatile bands I have ever heard. Your boyfriend is entitled to his opinion, however it seems as if he is a bit biased and close-minded.
Is *Joe Satriani* better guitarist than *David Gilmour* ? 🤔 I guess it depend on your taste in music and what motivates you in a guitarist. For me it is *Kanami* and the feeling she drives in this song. 🤗
As a fan of both bands, I prefer Band-Maid over Lovebites all day and every day. Like most old-school rockers I'm a real sucker for shredding guitars and musicianship but I'm a bigger sucker for heavy grooves, riffs, and dynamic songwriting. The problem with songs that are shred fests is the lack of memorable riffs or a catchy groove that sticks to you away from the music. It's like eating candy for dinner sure it is good but it doesn't provide what a hearty meal would. I feel Band-Maid is that satisfying meal. They manage to weave complexity in a way that holds a familiar thread and is spun into a catchy memorable package all while not sacrificing the groove. They are not painted into any particular musical genre which allows them the freedom to explore and access the full musical spectrum to incorporate into their music. Their sound signature is Unique and unlike any other band, you know it's them within the first few bars. I think if Lovebites were not an all-female band they would not have the same novel appeal because there have been quite a few of those bands in the past like Helloween, Merciful Fate, Savatage, Armord Saint, etc... Bands with equally talented musicians that play in the same style. It is understandable to be enamored with Lovebites due to the fact it is an all-female Japanese band that is displaying such skill and proficiency with their instruments. Needless to say, this piqued my interest as well. But watching and hearing guitar solos that are rapidly executed scale exercises is no doubt impressive. Even this can become a boring display of musical Calisthenics. Being a great instrumentalist is one thing but being a world-class songwriter and musician is another thing entirely. And like many others who have commented on Lovebites, they are worthy of the recognition they have received but in my opinion, they fall short of what Band-Maid offers superior songwriting. Songwriting is the name of the game more so than one's ability to perform musical Calisthenics. Most of the greatest songs are rarely written by the best instrumentals or performers. Oddly enough this may be a result of being too good at one's instrument to be able to generate the necessary space and dynamics needed to produce the connection on a deeper emotional level. It must be more than flashy guitar tricks and scale exercises. Let's not forget that silence or absence of a note is also an important musical note that lends contrast in creating that dynamic needed to form that bond. Therefore, It falls to whoever is writing the song to create the space or dynamics to allow the vocalist the room to express and deliver the vocal melody in a meaningful and memorable way. Lovebites deserve to be recognized and acknowledged as an important band in keeping this style of music alive and kicking. But I feel Band-Maid stands in a league of their own. They also possess multiple members who are masters at their instruments but possess an even more important quality of being truly completely void of ego. This quality allows them to create music where the song takes priority over their glory. This is not to say they are void of any complexity or moments where they can display their musical ability. They have plenty of those individual moments where they can shine individually, it's just presented in a tasteful way that enhances the song like adding the right amount of spice at the right moment to that meal. One important and often undervalued quality is band cohesion and longevity. Both of these qualities along with the freedom from being locked into a particular genre have allowed them to present music that holds a distinct signature of their own while also providing something familiar and memorable. I feel they are an important and special band and deserve to be illuminated.
Nicely said. An analogy of mine is that music is like driving - the faster you go, the harder it is to corner and you need to pay more attention of and to staying in your lane. Driving flat out may be exhilarating but your passenger might feel a bit sick.
I'm more of a maidiac and I agree that the songwriting of the maids is outstanding. Yet, Wicked Witch was my most played song 2023, and that is a song by Lovebites, really melodic and catchy rather than schredding. I still listen more to Band Maid but Lovebites songwriting is still fantastic with, imo, masterpieces like Swan song, A Frozen Serenade and Shadowmaker, in my view because of melodic choices more than anything else.
When KANAMI plays a solo, he concentrates on how to make the guitar sing along with the song, rather than showing off his technique. Of course, that may be more difficult than playing fast. It does not matter if it is good or bad, as everyone has their own preferences. I don't think there are that many guitarists in the world who can really make a guitar sing.
It’s fine to not like this song, or Band Maid in general. Only a small percentage of people like even the most popular bands ever! But to state as a fact that Band Maid’s musicians are worse than Lovebites’ musicians after a couple songs? Even if there’s a way to prove it, and it was true, it’s crass to say it as if it’s a fact. Plus it ignores the fact that metal is a “show-off” genre moreso than rock-especially how Band Maid does it. Kanami doesn’t think about showing off when she writes songs. She’s thinking of the whole ensemble. Not to mention the fact that her best work is often throughout the song, and not in solos. I don’t think there are any Lovebites songs Kanami could not play. She chooses not to play that style, where the solo feels as if it’s all about itself, and detached from the song. Yngwie Malmsteen was once considered the greatest guitar player but, aside from his earliest material, the songs he writes are crap, IMO, no matter how good his guitar parts are. I value quality composition over virtuosity. The guys in Dragonforce are supposedly very talented. The guitar work hits you over the head, and amazes you. But it’s dull after awhile, and not memorable, IMO. Every musician I’ve ever heard speak on the topic of talent says that the best players are session musicians that never get talked about… so there’s always someone better than who you like. That’s why I focus on what something sounds like, and how it makes me feel, rather than anyone’s assessment regarding its technical merit.
You talk a lot, thinking you have a good understanding of music, but from my experience of working in the music industry, I think you are just propagating your shallowness to the whole world. I am well aware that everyone has their own taste in music. So, personally, I do not care if some people do not like KANAMI's performance. But if that person's level of speaking out is low, it's just disappointing and sad...... that is not for KANAMI, but for you...... By the way, I am also a big fan of Lovebites too, and I am a Japanese who attends almost all of their concerts.
The only rudimentary thing I see here, is the boy’s perspective on the guitar. There is no such thing as best, there are just top tier musicians. I disagree with this narrow minded mindset regarding„much better“; much better in what? Complexity, Lyricism, Speed, Emotion, Kontext within the song/serve the song, accuracy, length & endurance, combination of different techniques, originality? There are only top tier players, the rest depends on the parameter you use for a rating: some prefer impressive athleticism where every millisecond counts, some prefer good literature that takes them on a journey and some can enjoy both and more than just one thing. What is for sure Kanami is a great musician and player and very unique, on the tech/speed side I couldn’t do a ranking either M&M, Saki, Yuki, Sakura, Hal-Ca … difficult. I’m a guitar player myself since 1982 😅, but come from the Jazz side and I did learn more than once, it needs much more than speed and technique - even if you need that too of course - to be truly a great player.
A guitar player plays and composes to the song they are writing. They could shred throughout the song if they wanted to if the song deserves it (Hate!) comes to mind but the question asked who is best ? There is not a best guitarist in the World there are guitarist who play well for the composistion. I hate putting people on pedestals it only means somewone will try and knock them off. There ae great players and there are individualls who show off.
@@RogerChance5309Never knew that, I drummed and crewed for a living during the 80's and early 90's including working with bands like Dire Straits and The Monkees, we definitely need to have a beer somewhere down the track 🙏😁👍🍻🍻🎼🎼
Im a 38yo lady and started guitar since the age of 11.. attained private music school at the age of 15 just to learned basic scores and at least earn a certified pro in the field .. considered a shredder lol.. fast finger on electric but more so on jazzy blues on acoustic… i dont like to play fast just to show of my skills but im more so towards the feels.. i’d rather play acoustic.. when discovered Bandmaid.. thats what i want to hear… those ‘tasty solos’ an yet serves the songs not too over shred that takes out concept of the song indeed.. As for Lovebites … both guitaries darn good techically insane brutal wow factor but note that they are considered a power metal( yeah need to be hell brutal baby)… my fav (Midori) oooh i love her… Ps: i love Kanami’s understanding on serving her fret work in every each songs.. she doesnt need to shred in each song… i love the way her ‘ fingers work’ sings ..note that Kanami SINGS with her guitar not just play some ramdom s#!T But when Kanami shred… her eyes and fingers almost transform into lazer and butterflies… her fingers dance… and when she shreds it was like there’s no tomorrow…
Members of LOVE-BITE (MIDORI, HARUNA and ASAMI) were also in the audience at the final show of BAND-MAID's 10th anniversary tour. They posted about how much they enjoyed themselves on Instagram. Perhaps you're the only one who don't enjoy Kanami's play. KANAMI is both a composer and a main arranger. Therefore, she only plays solos that fit the song. I feel very sad that not only KANAMI, but also my favorite David Gilmour and Jimmy Page have been rejected.
"Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" and the HBO Max series Peacemaker as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are, along with The Warning band, almost single-handedly bringing back the joy of rock. Here's a great live MV of "Choose Me" that's not quite as punchy do to the mix, but still good: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HcqitbXgigU.html Thx, Rob & Steph!
Rudimentary? Man is that a hot take. You want to hear Kanami shred? Listen to any of their instrumentals where the guitar is the focus. Kanami doesn’t play to simply show off. Her guitar parts and solos are written to support and fit the SONG. And if you REALLY listen to what she is playing outside of solos, you'll realize its MUCH more complex than you seem to think. I challenge you listen to From Now On or Without Holding Back (or even any of there normal sings with the vocals stripped out) and call her playing rudimentary.
Guys, if he prefers heavier and faster songs (ie Lovebites), then World domination and Choose me are very much likely not the right songs for him, that's his honest feeling based on these 2 songs and I think it's understandable. Imagine if he hears songs like Bestie, anemone or their acoustic songs, he probably dislike them even more, on the other hand, if he hears heavier songs like shambles or aggressive songs in the unseen world album ( warning or Black hole etc) he probably likes them. For me, both Band Maid and Lovebites are talented in their own unique ways but gotta say Band Maid makes more sweet, interesting, groovy, mad and progressive music.
Shambles, Warning, No God, Black Hole, Rinne, Different, From Now On, etc. But the problem I see with this guy's reaction (and what I think a lot of comments here are responding to) is that he seems to be judging this band solely on how shreddy they are. And you know what, if that's what you want, that's cool. Go listen to Yngwie or Satch or Eddie or early Megadeth all day long. Lovebites has shredfest solos in a lot of their songs. But it makes him sound like he has narrow tastes and shallow opinions.
@@chrisbergsten1429 He is not the only one out there thinking shredfest = better music. Actually I used to like this when I was in my early 20s as well. Now I am in my 40s, I still find LB's solo kind of fun to watch when they drop a new MV but I rarely watch or listen to them again after one or two listens.
I would like to see the Gaijin Guys comment on this video. All of them are experienced musicians, and has tried to learn it. It sounds very "simple", but Kanami runs complex chordstructures. A Lovebites solo might have more notes pr second, while a band-maid song got more chords than Lovebites, who in the verses stick to the same. Kanami usually switch riffs during the song many times. Also.. it's 2 different genres. Which demands different feel. We know from early on that she was capable of shredding. Like on 2016 song "Alone", but never "overplaying". Later she brought out the feels in the ballad "daydreaming" (2018) and "Blooming" (2019). Sooo.. you might not like her style of playing, and prefer M&Ms typical shredding. But to claim she's "basic"?? Jeeez....
Wave Potter said his cover of “Onset” was harder to do than his cover of “YYZ” by Rush! That ought to speak to the quality of Band Maid’s musicianship.
I would rather hear an honest negative comment than see a reactor jump around and pretend he is blown away. No single artist can appeal to every single musical taste. That’s why we need more and different. I’ve never seen BB King sweep picking. But I have heard him speak volumes with a single note. Lovebites and Band Maid appeal to completely different audiences, despite a bit of crossover. Personally, I don’t like Lovebites music because all I hear is an Iron Maiden cover band. The interesting thing about Band Maid is their courage in songwriting. I guarantee they have a song for everyone, although not everyone can like every song! For the lady? Nothing could beat “Play” LIVE For the gentleman? “From Now On” OMV 🤘🏽
I suggest the song Giovanni, without vocals first, then with vocals. I think one of many great things about this band is the absence of huge, inflated egos that a lot of people seem to have .
I think he's listening superficially. If you REALLY listen to what Kanami is doing underneath, you'll see she is doing some really complex stuff. Even the part of the song he said he liked, I doubt he realized that Kanami was actually doubling Misa's bass part underneath. It's not obvious unless you really pay attention.
Band maid best song? All of them... This band has a playlist that i've never skip a song from them. Try it, make a band maid playist & a lovebites playlist & listen to them repeatedly on your own, you will see what i mean... I like lovebites as well but not every song as it tends to get similar over time.
It's okay to not like something but you can't offend a professional, the whole problem comes from the previous reaction when someone told you that band-maid was better than baby metal and you thought not, you have to be objective and not speak from the heart only. I like baby metal, lovebites and band-maid, but they are three very different bands and the best in their respective genres of music. There is no comparison.
Don't worry. Don't blame him. You need to change your old ideas to understand the essence of music. Some people need time to see the talent. Everyone has their own way of evaluating talent. This is common. There are still many people who don't realize that BAND-MAID is a great band. You can't keep up with the difference in level right away. The most disappointing thing I've ever heard was, "There are bands that can play BAND-MAID's songs, but BAND-MAID can't play theirs." That's really disrespectful to both bands. It's also disrespectful to the other band. Because other bands have a hard time making songs like this. Still, you guys are great because you brought that conflict to the surface instead of hiding it. Please continue to listen to BAND-MAID. Thank you.
The mark of quality of a band isn’t how impossible their music is to play. It’s how happy their fans are to watch and listen to them. Band-Maid has ruined a lot of other music for me, because the depth of their writing. Like listening to other drummers just play a beat instead of Akane’s constant switch ups feels boring. But that’s not a technicality issue. It’s writing. It’s the band’s bottomless well of creativity, and their effort to give us the best music they can.
He's comparing power metal speed metal trash guitar 🎸 riffing to Kanami and Miku's style of playing that is composed to fit the song they've created. He knows his "stuff" alright.😂The lady's reaction and analysis was good. The only good thing about the guy was his cat t-shirt
It seems like Rob will never forgive Band-Maid for breaking his Babymetal bubble... look what I'm talking about: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XUloS8Co2_U.htmlsi=J4ZtO4Sp3CeX0UaY It's clear that Rob doesn't like Lovebites either... he doesn't even know the names of the girls in either band. He's just using Lovebites as a tool to undermine Band-Maid... get over it Rob.😕 It's sad that a man in his fifties... 😄 behaves like a tantrum-throwing child and uses music to separate people instead of bringing them together... very sad.😔
Okay there sir. I have let a LOT of these comments roll off my back. I don't know what you're even saying? Because I don't like ONE SONG? (mind you, I loved Domination...) I don't STUDY the members of the band because I have only recently gotten into Lovebites.(within the past three weeks.. sorry I don't DELVE into their personal lives and know EVERY BAND MEMBER BY NAME). And your snide little faces that you are making throughout EVERY single comment you post on here aren't funny. They aren't even clever. YOU are unhinged sir. You are the worst of humanity. For talking to someone like that making fun of their physical appearance, their age (I'm 45, and damn proud of it), or ANYTHING that can be taken as a personal affront, lacks class. YOU sir have zero class. All you are is a Band-Maid stan. I get it. But that doesn't mean you can come in here and bully me. I typically don't like to use the banhammer, but if you don't stop with all of the, quite frankly, shitty remarks about me, I will.
We are reacting for the first time…. Which means that we don’t know all of the ins and outs of this band. He’s not throwing a tantrum. It was a discussion. All of these snide comments are not necessary. Let it be.
Evaluating an entire band after listening to just two of their tracks out of well over 100 is not a good idea. I dare you to try "'Hate?" live. Will be waiting for your reaction... Then Check out "Manners and Blackhole" live and tell us again how standard they are. Making snap judgments based on ignorance is not a good idea.
there's not one Lovebites song that I have been able to listen to all the way through - mostly the constant snare, & double kick is just boring (more monotonous) - likewise the guitars, same tonal range fast, no melody and boring. Very talented but uninteresting.
Precisely. The first obstacle for me with Lovebites is Asami. I do not like her style. I thought I could get past that with the great musicianship. And while the technical abilities are obvious, the catchy riffs and melodies just aren't there for me. Some times a simplistic song with 3 chords is all you need .
@@k3w1b3an5 I'll admit I haven't heard many (6 or so - because I just can't get through them) but from what I have heard it seems that you could take any of their solo sections and use them interchangably in any of their other songs and you wouldn't be able to notice any significant difference. That's a challenge to be set for someone (name the solo). 😃 I've said elsewhere, virtuousos (Vai, Satriani, etc) and other real heavy stuff I appreciate but not when listening by myself - after a song or two I fall back into "yeah, not reallly in the mood". With Band-Maid (and like Rush before them) I'm never NOT in the mood. There must be something that is keeping me interested.
@@RogerChance5309 Yep, even as a non-musician I am amzed by some peoples blindness to the fact that thinking this stuff up is the hard bit (reproducing is just mechanical training really)
Respeto su opinión, pero para mi si escucho 5 canciones seguidas de lovebites y band-maid, me aburre lovebites y con Band-maid no, por la variedad, y me gustan las dos bandas, pero una tiene mas variedad que la otra, mi humilde opinión.
Next try Hate? Live. It is all personal preferences. I like both Bandmaid and Lovebites. Both of these bands appreciate and support each other. Lovebites was at Bandmaid's concert last year as audience. Personally I am more of the Maidac but from time to time I enjoy Lovebite.
« If you don’t have music to back up a singer… » About Band-Maid. Thanks for the laugh 😄. You don’t like this song, and it’s fine. If you like more intense music, try some later Band-Maid songs : Shambles, Blooming, Black Hole, Hate?, …
Well dude you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but not everyone hears things the same way. Also remember not every Beatles song was a masterpiece to everyone, Remember "Yellow Submarine' or "Rocky Racoon?" I definitely disagree with your comment that Saiki's voice isn't metal enough and also disagree that Kanami on guitar isn't a good guitarist. The problem seems that you went into the song expecting one thing and got another. Just listen to the music and let it play out over you. Not every Beethoven symphony is a number 5 or a 9, but it doesn't make them worth not listening to.
This song is very catchy and much better than some of the lame songs played by those guitar competition champions. Conversely, I'm not interested in Lovebites' ultra-technical guitar solos. I listen to a lot of Lovebites but have a hard time remembering the melodies. I just remember stuff like operatic vocals and super long guitar solos.
Those who are called metalheads tend to look down on any music that contains even the slightest flavor of popular music. Band-maid may not be able to play straight-up metal like Lovebites, but neither can Lovebites play the jazzy, groovy tunes that Band-maid does.
My issue is that a lot of folks base "good" on sheer technical ability only. If you can't play a million notes a minute, it's "not good." Technical ability does not equal good musicianship. There is a time and place to shred. The best musicians know when that time and place is.
I'm definitely a metal head. When I first discovered B-M I was looking for some heavy as shit screaming metal. But I'm also 58 years old and grew up on classic rock and punk. I fell in love with Band-Maid instantly.
@@k3w1b3an5 My apologies. Maybe I should have said some of metalheads. I think people like you who grew up on classic rock (including myself ) find Band-Maid appealing. But maybe not for power/speed metal followers who originate from Halloween.
It's very sad that anyone take the opportunity to make comparisons between Band Maid and Lovebites, launching judgments in favor of one or other. In my opinion, those who love music can both love the same way. They are neither rivals nor competitors, they sound a little different genres, but they are both great musicians. We have to consider ourselves lucky to live in a time when both Band Maid and Lovebites exist.
I love it when someone that likes to cook (or in your case eat) tries to analyze and critique what world class chefs are doing in their kitchens. Unintentional comedic gold right here folks.
Lovebites are superb technicians but I'm really not a fan of what they pour their skills into (in particular I don't find Asami's vocals pleasing, but that's my fault, not hers). When it comes to Band-Maid I admire their world-class skills (no less than those of Lovebites) as well as their musicality and humility - they make the songs the heroes, not themselves.
The best thing about B-M is that they jump effortless between genres, from pop-rock to progressive, metal, punk and everything in between. If you don't like one song, there is always another that will suit you. I agree that Lovebites are more technical, but I don't judge music and musicians from how fast they can play, but how it sounds. For me, Lovebites is as boring as Iron Maiden. I heard it all before. B-M always surprise me.
To each their own tastes. I would suggest that given your comments on this particular song, that you might prefer a more hard live performance - Try 'Moratorium' live. Band-Maid has a wide selection of musical styles and you can find many different influences and genres being mixed. As an old(over 50years) headbanger, some of my favorite bands are the likes of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest. These ladies are every bit as talented, and one of the only groups that I've bothered to actually purchase full albums for in over 10 years. Nemophila is also a great Japanese hard rock although they are more metalcore in nature...Lovebites has a lot of talent but I don't care for the singer at all.
When your girlfriend listens to Band-MAID songs and responds honestly and feels wonderful, we are happy. If you're a good professional musician, you shouldn't disturb the pure reaction from an expert. I think you should more respect for her sensitivity to music.
LOVEBITES is a Noodle Meister Showoff Band, which is hwy they hired Fami as a replacement. BAND-MAID play tastefully, though they will showoff as needed. There is a LIVE version of this that's better, but I'm not going to suggest it. Most of the LIVE videos are the definitive versions of those songs, with very few exception. However I'm going to suggest your do 'Hate?' LIVE next. They showoff a little bit in that song.
I agree with you to a point. (by the way don't apologize for your own native tongue...no need for that) Where we differ is that I don't think I said anything bad. The ONLY two Japanese bands (unless you include Shonen Knife and the Boredoms, who I had the pleasure of seeing when I was 15) that I know of is Lovebites and Band-Maid. THAT is why I made the comparison. New to the bands, new songs, new everything. And MOST of the comments on here are acting like I have heard their entire discography, or that I know how good of guitar players they are in the band (I did say the bassist was ON point for the song..) but honestly, I was just interested in a discussion... if you disagree, that's fine.
@@aviewfromthestage Intent and perception can be very different. I truly don’t think you were trying to be disrespectful but can definitely see where the things said could easily be taken as being disrespectful and arrogant. I also don’t think people expect you to know their whole catalog and history, but instead not to make judgements off of a very limited sample size. It’s okay to not compare bands, especially if you have a limited sample size with both of them. If you want to make comparisons, maybe choose songs that are more stylistically closer to what you’re reacting to. Band-Maid and Lovebites don’t have to be tied together just because they’re both Japanese and women. For what it’s worth, I do think some of the comments attacking you on a personal level and not about what you said went too far.
It is Band Maid doing Band Maid things and you have just scratched the surface. I know enough about both Band Maid and Lovebites to know that comparing is unnecessary, they simply trying to do very different style of music. I also prefer to listen to Band Maid per album and I don't have a favorit song in that manner, even though that Manners is my #1 as it was my first song and the start on my musical journey with the Maids. Hate? official live and Manners, Black Hole (two songs) online live have already been suggested and I second those. I would also add the MVs Blooming, Influencer, From Now On, just as a start.
Thank you for your honest opinion. There are multiple Band-Maid songs that took several listens before my brain could catch up with what the band was communicating through their music and then I end up loving the songs. This is a very unique band that does not follow conventional song structure and some people get confused until they unlock the secret. I hope you continue down the pigeon hole.
Thank you for your kind comment! After listening a second and third time to Love Bites Glory to the World I loved it. It’s just first time reactions don’t always mean you’ll love it at first. Sometimes these songs grow on you!
BAND-MAID's music does everything for me. Lovebites music does nothing for me. I'm a classic rock groupie from the 60's and 70's. I listen to the music and couldn't care less about the technicality of the players. Choose Me along with Blooming was in the NetFlix movie KATE. BAND-MAID has done several songs for anime openings and endings. They have done collabs with Incubus and The Warning. Check out their most Awesome instrumental FROM NOW ON. I'd be very interest to hear your take. Peace. 1.72
I'm a die hard Maidiac because Love Bites with the "operatic metal"; Nemophila with the screaming; Baby Metal with their, well, baby metal all don't work for me. But I think that by dissing Rob over his comments is out of line, in my honest opinion. It's totally unfair to him. Hey, Americans, whatever happened to freedom of speech? I'm Asian and we don't have the same 1st Amendment principle that you have, yet we are able to accept that Rob (sorry if I got your name wrong, sir) has a different take, if only for this song. To his credit, he is prepared to listen to more BM songs. To be fair, Rob, perhaps you might want to hold back on your opinion that the Love Bites ladies are instrumentally more superior after you have listened to more BM songs. Try Freezer, Moratorium (live), Puzzle (live), Take Me Higher (live), Turn Me On (live), Hate (live), YOLO, Blooming, Unfair Game, Non-fiction Days, Puzzle, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, Awkward, Don't Be Long, Giovanni (instrumental only version), Rinne, to name a few. When you listen to BM music, one should not approach it with a view on metal music or even hard rock. This is a super versatile band that composes and arranges their own music led by that lead guitarist, Kanami Tono in collaboration with her band mates as a Team thing. Lyrics are mostly done by Miku Kobato, the rhythm guitarist and back up vocalist. If I dare to make comparisons, then I'll find their predecessor equivalents in Pink Floyd, Queen, The Beatles in that they will compose and perform whatever it is that inspires them. Metal, Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Jazz, Country, Ballads, Pop, Latin Rock, they do it all. Such is their versatility. To be honest, I don't think I can say the same for Love Bites and Nemophila, et al. After several songs, you'll realize that they sound the same. But not Band Maid. They have about 140 songs from over 10 years of being together with no member changes. They're no longer simply band mates, they're sisters by now, if you care to follow their amazing genesis and subsequent journey over the years. For interesting compositions, try Blooming, Secret My Lips, Awkward, YOLO, Matchless Gum, Spirit, Gion Cho. For beautiful melodies, try Smile, Start Over, Bubble, Endless Story, Anemone, Daydreaming. Final fun fact, their founder and rhythm guitarist, Miku Kobato (or the pigeon as she calls herself) started off as the lead vocalist and couldn't play the guitar at all. She later realized that her vocals were not strong enough for the kind of music they were playing and recruited a lead singer to take over. Meanwhile, she started learning guitar from Kanami, the lead guitarist and composer-in-chief. Today, Miku has evolved into an awesome rhythm guitarist. What humility! THAT is an AWESOME LEADER! By now, you might begin to understand why their legion of loyal fans are so passionate and protective of them and hence you've been receiving artillery bombardment after artillery bombardment for your comments. I do not condone these attacks but you have a better understanding of why.
Great reaction... STEPH.👍 This is pop punk rock at its finest. Band-Maid studio song recommendations: "YOLO", "Alone", "Daydreaming"... I think Steph is going to especially love the last one. Band-Maid live song recommendations: "Real Existence", "Turn Me On", and "Hate?"
Meanwhile I dont fancy Lovebites that much, much to do because of the singer. But there are no weak links in Bandmaid. maybe you'd prefer something like Hate? (live or Blooming to get some more guitar. Or just go with a instrumental like Onset or From now on.
I can't help but feel uncomfortable when you pretend to know something when you don't know anything about it. I admit that I have likes and dislikes, but I have no respect for the content of the story, it's just a one-sided opinion that I don't like. Please apologize to BAND-MAID!
We are reacting… first time… that means we don’t know anything. We never said we know this or that. We are learning for the first time. The comment section is great because it allows us to learn more from fans of the band.
The women in love bites are indeed shreaders, But the Bass player I say Missa Is the most expressive. I love both drummers and each singer has their strengths. But Kanami is very talented guitarist and I love the unexpected from Kanami. Can you say which is better Stevie Ray Vaughn or Steve Via. They both kick ass but one may resonate with diferent audiences .
Different strokes for different folks, I always say. Not to talk down on Band Maids guitarist. It just doesn't "do it" for me. I would LOVE to be proven wrong though!
He would say TW is way too simple and they will never be successful in the metal genre! Which would be correct since they are not metal but are an excellent hard rock band like Band-Maid! I would like for them to state in a Lovebite reaction that Saiki is better singer than Asami and see the comments they would get. I would let his girlfriend react to Band-Maid and he can do the Lovebites. To each his own. After a while the constant shredding and sweep picking is just noises. They should do a reaction to Maximum the Hormone - like Alien 😅
Don't do it. How are they weaker than the truly genius musician Lovebites? Hey! do you know who MISA is? Hey! Do you know who Kanami Tono is? Hey! do you know who Akane Hirose is? Hey! Think about it: Hmmm? Listen to the best band in the world and don't meow............:D Amúgy: baromira szeretem a LOVEBITEST. Hö? Egy mnagyar. Pech, mi?
Ok. I see this criticism as a challenge. You have only scratched the surface with Band-Maid. Hate (live) will most likely be the most recommended song but if you like bass the Dice and No God are a couple of viable options as well. If you want shredding then Sense, Different and Warning could be good choices as well.
No offense but this was painful to watch. It's fine that you like Lovebites better than Band-Maid but your explanation was a bunch of nonsense. Band-Maid isn't a power metal band - so the guitars aren't going to sound like Lovebites BUT what you are going to get is a wide range of creative compositions where all members get to shine. In Powermetal the guitarists try to showcase their abilities in each song....Band-Maid is trying to just make good songs that don't all sound the same. Some songs don't even have a guitar solo while others are all solos. It's called taking your talent and being creative. They come together to make a great song...I'm sorry but while Lovebites musicianship is impressive it bores me after about 3 songs.
He prefers the kind of music Lovebites produces. Hardly the biggest crime in the world. I prefer B-M myself. I still appreciate the hell out of Lovebites. I will not dream of opining of the technical musicianship of anyone in either band though because they're all clearly bloody good at what they do which is making music that resonates with people. Something most musicians, much less complete tone deaf oafs such as myself, can only dream of achieving.
Thanks for your honest opinion. I disagree with several of your points, but then again, you don't know anything about the band, yet. Two songs are not enough to understand who a band is and judge their worth. Please, continue on this BAND-MAID journey. I'm curious to see what happens with the next reaction.
Guys, relax. He’s just not a fan of catchy rock music. He’s a power metal guy. That’s fine. I think Lovebites is basically unlistenable for me. I agree they are excellent at their instruments but I find it tedious and dull. They don’t do anything particularly interesting for me and the speed at which they play their guitars isn’t my jam. But that’s just my musical taste, and it’s not everyone’s. I’m happy for Lovebites and their fans that enjoy their music.
Songs of Band Maid you will probably like: Hate? (Live), Blackhole (Live), Blooming (MV), Without holding back (MV), from now on (MV). Guys, don’t recommend their poppier or slow songs.
@@The.Carrier.Pigeons Po! ... and see "BANDMAID VS Vince Sharifi - Who Is The Better Composer?" ... its a guy who posts disparaging remarks about popular bands, then thrives on the clicks when fans come to roast him. An "experienced musician".
@@GaryHolloway-810 I just bought a Sutcliffe boat from a nice seller who is in Plain- An- Gwarry, Marazion, Cornwall. I looked it up and found lovely medieval ruins and picturesque cottages in the south of England. Have you been?
@@johnmatthew102 Nice one. I haven't been to that exact place but i've been to Cornwall many times. It's beautiful countryside & historic buildings. So peaceful as well, no planes or noise & you're just as likely to see people on horses as you are seeing cars. If i go there on holiday i rent an isolated cottage for two weeks & relax :)
I am in no way trying to defend the guy here. But it is kinda ironic that some of these comments here are proving his point about toxic fandom. Some are demeaning towards Lovebites in comparison to Band-Maid and you are not doing anybody a favor with this (I love both bands). Such behaviour just reflects badly on the band(s). It is not a competition! Everybody can dislike music or this or that band, it's fine. But the least you can do is show RESPECT to the artists who put their hearts into what they are doing.
It's not uncommon for a fan to get hot under the collar if someone doesn't like one of their favorite bands song. I'm laughing. If people had always liked the same music, we would still be listening to people beating on logs and grunting. lol That said, try this one...........ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZpAYnVJX9CY.html it may be more to your liking. BAND-MAID doesn't live in a musical box.
I don’t think it’s about him not liking the song. I’ve seen several reactors say they don’t like a Band-Maid song and the responses are usually just recommending songs he might like more. I think it has more to do with the feeling that he was being dismissive and disrespectful in regards to their talent, especially after only listening to two songs.
@@davidpinney4091 Hey David, I was only trying to lighten the mood. I am not defending his criticism. I agree, he was over the top with his judgement of our maids. Quite simply I think BAND-MAID is the most creative band I have heard in about 30 years or so. That said, he is allowed his opinion no matter how insulting it is.
