Akira Times is a contemporary image maker who is passionate about encouraging kimono-wearers to adopt a more flexible and individual approach to styling the garment.
A self-taught photographer and graphic designer, Akira sources and styles the models himself, blending traditional kitsuke (the art of wearing a kimono) with unusual accessories, makeup and hair styles. Akira's striking, rule-breaking images have gathered enormous attention online, graced the covers of numerous magazines and resulted in a publication, Kimono Times, charting a decade of his work.
