My fur babies are my children but two of them that passed really hit hard and that was my childhood cat. I had him in my life from the age of 10-27. He was my best friend. The other was always a puny cat and he needed special care everyday so the 6 1/2 yrs I had with him were just as intense and special as the 17 yrs i had with my first "baby". I still have a couple cats and a pittbull that is my baby. He is like my childhood cat reincarnated into this wonderful dog that I am so blessed to have in my life.

I went to the grocery store with my mom and a Hispanic lady came up to us that couldn't speak English. She had an index card asking us to help her buy food for her family. My mom asked her what she wanted and took her around the store and got her enough food to last a week for her family. It was a selfless thing to do because my family doesn't always have that much money but she was still willing to go over budget for this woman.

Something which moved me recently, unfortunately very painful, was seeing my Dad cry for the first time. It's something I'd never seen in my life before and, from sadness, something I never want to see in him again. My Grandmother, his Mother, passed away and we had all been to her funeral and sobbed all day. What really moved and shocked me was when he truly broke down in the early hours of the morning, after everyone had left and the funeral was over. I could see how much it was torture for him to have to accept it; he was balling his fists together and he hit himself multiple times which was really my breaking point. On the contrary, something more positive was when one of my Aunties was giving a eulogy that same day. It was the first time I'd heard how my Grandparents met and I thought it was the most beautiful love story I'd ever heard. My Auntie told us how the first day they met was the day my Grandfather, who was in the RAF, was due to go off to fight in WW2. Having only spoken to my 16 year old Grandmother for a few hours, my 18 year old Grandfather left the house to be deployed after telling her he'd certainly return to marry her. When the war ended 4 years later, on the day he returned home, he went straight to my Grandmother's house and asked my Great-Grandfather if he may court his youngest of 9 children and only daughter. They were the only people either of them every loved and were married for over 40 years :) It's something I now aspire to.

I had a friend pass away by suicide. And her family was very religious. They were struggling because taking your own life is a sin. All through the ceremony the pastor was emphasizing and trying to reassure her parents that she IS in heaven. She simple lost her battle with mental health. It was really moving to see a pastor being so progressive.

2015 we lost both my mother and my brother to cancer. I live in another state and my father was the main person taking care of them day to day. My brother was always close to my mom but he and dad weren't as close. There was always a wall up. After Mom died in May, it was just Dad and J. When I was visiting my dad told me that J always knew Mom loved him but now J knows that He loves him too. I thought that was so profound. It still makes me cry when I think about it. My Dad lives with an attitude of gratitude and finds the good in EVERYTHING. I'm thankful he taught me that.

My mom had been sick since I was a freshman in high school, one Thursday morning senior year the high school was at mass (catholic school) and a light that shined on the altar was flickering, but more in a way like someone was messing with the light switch. I had felt a heavy feeling the whole morning and so something came over me to think/ask God "God if this is some kind of sign, if something is going to happen switch the light twice." and it happened. A moment later a teacher came and pulled me out because my mother had passed. I've been in a place where I'd call myself agnostic for a couple years now but that moment has stuck with me and made it difficult for me not to believe in something divine and more than this world.

Couple years ago me and my mom saw a man on the road, he was trying to stop us but at first we thought he was drunk so we didn't. But then it hited us and we went back, it was too late. I held the man when he took his last breath. I really tried everything I could but it wasn't enough, the ambulance took too long. It really broke my heart and moved me, I cried the whole night. Guess some things are really meant to happen, no matter how hard we try to stop it.

Before that I was afraid of not being able to show that kind of emotion. Her passing away opened something up in me. She was a wonderful being and had a good life, as far as I can tell. my best friend’s family fostered me while my family was breaking down, shortly before i went into care. her nana went with me to a shop where i could get my school uniform. we arrived early, so we went to a coffee shop across the street and had a hot drink while waiting for the shop to open. we got into a deep conversation, and she started talking about my foster mam’s dad, my best friend’s grandfather. he died young from a progressive movement/muscular disease. my friend’s nana told me about how she felt angry and emotional and her grief overwhelmed her when she would see people with their families joking and laughing, or even just being normal. it drove her to the point of standing at the side of the road, ready to step out in front of oncoming traffic when my friend’s face just appeared in her mind (my friend’s brother was not born at this point) and she “came to her senses” if you will. there were definitely tears in my eyes, and i told her how sorry i was and recalled a similar incident my mam had after my younger sister died. for someone who i considered my own nana to tell me something so deeply personal and trust me with that was definitely a hugely moving moment. i also have a couple from the twenty one pilots concert i went to last night but this was very very personal and i definitely love pam. she’s getting remarried this year and i couldn’t be prouder and happier.

When my grandmother was on her deathbed my brother played her music. Her memory was pretty much gone from her sickness and she didn't recognize us but the next day she remember the music. It was probably the last happy memory she had before she died. My brother has described himself as sort of a black sheep of the family since his life hasn't taken a traditional trajectory. But that moment reminds me that sometimes we might feel things don't matter until until they really, really matter.

We were so poor. My mother and father happened to win two turkeys at work. My mom called DFACS to see if a family could use the extra turkey for Thanksgiving. The lady came to our house to pick it up. She was crying and my whole family started crying after she left, My mom, dad, brother and sister and me. All of us bawled for a while. We were poor but in that very moment we felt rich! Lesson: when you feel less than or a victim: HELP SOMEONE ELSE IN ANY WAY YOU CAN. I will NEVER forget that moment. ALL kids need to witness this, especially if they are poor. It is empowering in a way that you can't be taught in schools, commercials, etc. Lead by example in your families everyone. I LOVE this question!!!

at 10 years old, seeing my aunt throw herself while crying and screaming over her baby brother's coffin both emotionally scarred and moved me. it brought me to tears and until I was older I didn't even understand why; to see that love and heartbreak.

I had a conversation here on RU-vid, it was a video of school field trip that went wrong. One clip showed kids who were badly sunburned (2nd and 3rd degree burns with big boils) and a guy asked why the kids spent so long in the hospital when he only spent a week after a concussion. But he went on to explain it wasn't a ordinary concussion. He was a construction worker and fell about 30 feet headfirst. He went to the hospital and only spent a week in there, then they told him something about needing beds so they sent him home. His concussion was bad enough that he now has memory loss,it completely changed his life. He's went to support groups to "help him get used to his new self" in his words. I had a small conversation with him and it had a really positive impact on me which is rare to find on the internet.

Something that really moved me: (it didn't really move me much at the time until after my grandma passed away.) In 2014 she took me to paris as a 15nth birthday trip. While we were overthere, there was this one day we got lost and we walked around to get back to the Eiffel tower to then go to the hotel. We had been in a museum before we got lost, so that day we had probably walked about 5 to 6 hours till we finally got to the hotel. At the time she had a bad leg so she had to use a cain(idk if thats how is spelled), and she walked wt it at all times to help her leg. At the time I didnt really acknowledge it but a few months ago i found out she had cancer( for YEARS) but she never really told us. It started at the hip and then it spread. The last few month of her life she could barely walk and on her last days she stopped walking completely. She died month ago. One day Something made me think about that trip and i remembered what happened that day we got lost and i felt really moved because now that i think about it, she was basically trying to live her life to the fullest because she knew eventually she wouldn't be able to walk anymore. Another thing that really moved me was all the things she did for me, like how she didn't retire(even tho she was sick and in pain) in order for me to finish my studies.

I gave some food to a homeless lady and asked her name ( Tracy) and then the next week I saw her and some of her buddies again and gave them what I had to give, which wasn't much. As I was leaving I heard them nonchalantly and yet so gratefully say, "Thanks Gwen". It was like we were old friends rather than new.

I give music lessons to underpriviledge children. Sometimes I take them to care homes to sing and play instruments for the elderly. Afterwards I take them out to the arcade, gardens etc. 1 day after we came from a home we went to the arcade. While they were waiting for lunch an elderly man came to them told them it's his birthday and asked them to sing for him. After they sung for him he bought ice cream cones with dipping for all of them. He was so nice. I was so glad he saved me some and allowed me to do something extra for them. We thanked him but I wish we could have done more to make his day special.

The dog story got me ): just a month ago my dog died in front of me. I had her since i was 6, for 12 years. I was home alone and had no idea what to do, and was too scared to touch her while she was wheezing on the ground. i really wish i would have pet her so she didn't die so scared, or so she knew i was with her. I've thought about it every night and don't know how to get over the guilt i feel

These are great stories. Even the guy without anything that moves him is interesting. Your videos move me and make me feel human. I am curious to know how the interview ends. Is it a. “Thank you” and then he person leaves in deep thought. Do they walk away from you with a smile on their face? I know it depends but I’m curious to know how your interviews end.

I've had a lot of moving moments from people I was in downtown San Diego the VA head has me at the 500 Broadway it was a nightmare hell I thought being homeless was better than that place most of the time I'm an alcoholic I love beer it kills the pain and makes my music sound beautiful to me there was a young black man at the bus stop handsome kid dressed Sharp I was talking to him I was headed to the VA on the bus he was going to a job interview this man didn't even have a job and he handed me $20 I said brother I'll probably buy beer with that he said I don't care have a beer he was beautiful so when I got to the VA I bought lunch and I went to the store and had a beer I'm set in my favorite place listen to my music and prayed for that kid I got another one if anyone wants to hear it I was on Garnett it was at night I had smashed my guitar earlier that week because I don't handle stress well and this young man stop and talk to me 4 hours it seemed he literally empty his pockets gave me everything he had including the change it started to rain he headed home I told him I was in love with my social worker he turned around he literally took the shirt off his back so I could wear something nice when she saw me the next time he was an alcoholic he was suffering he said I go out I spend all my money on booze just so I can talk to women and I'm so lonely and now 8 years later I have tears in my eyes for that kid and I hope he's okay

I remember when one of our close friends died on a motor accident, it was really the saddest part of our life and then I just realized that life is so short so we should live our life to the fullest and do whatever makes us feel happy while we still can.
