Monk since 4 in a remote world.... Anyone can go to the Sangha and ask to be a temporary monk. 1 month, 6 months or the rest of your life. I want to see the attitude of a lifetime monk who enters the world for a period of time. A job, rents, bills and temporal obligations. Negotiating a city and its people with no help from others; then we will see who these people really are. A lifetime monk does not have the frame of reference to speak to the common man with any authority. Even the Buddha himself was a regular dude (ok, he was a prince) with a wife and child and endless royal BS before he went monastic. I am down with the Buddha and the Dharma but the Sangha....they are just people in a declining Dharma Age.
Rinpoche lives in United States now :) He does not stay in the remote world, this interview was recorded in Bali, after Bali he went to Davos. Did you have a chance to listen to the episode, or is this a general commentary ? Thanks anyways :)
@@SoulToSoulShow I did listen to it. It is general commentary but also applies to this man. It is very to different to "enter the world" as a celebrant, or, in this case, a celebrity!. This monk travels around in his capacity as a monk for spiritual purposes.
I do agree that comparing your life to the life of a Buddhist monk you will see lots of differences, but I also believe that Rinpoche’s message or living in present irrespective of the external circumstances, and not lingering on the same negative thought forever is something anyone can strive for. If you want to watch stories about overcoming some of the toughest obstacles and still striving not as a monk, we have quite a few these videos.
