This is part two of two videos showing a 'behind the scenes' look at the tasks we carry out as Blood Bikers in Norfolk.
A lot of it was filmed at night whilst on operational duty during the month of November 2022.
It costs between £4k and £5k per month to run Norfolk Blood Bikes If you would like to donate a few pennies that you can do that here: www.totalgivin...
If you like my video and would like to support me in making more then you can buy me a coffee here: www.buymeacoff... as we all know motorcycle are really fuelled by coffee!
Thanks
Ralph

In my opinion blood bikes should be classed as an 4th emergency service and have the benefits of the others services, having had the suitable training of course. Many, many moon's ago I was passing through crossroads that was ATS operated, ( green for us.) to my right was a St John's ambulance with the blue lights flashing so all the traffic stopped to let them go (red for them), but the Ambulace stayed in situ until the ATS changed.

My Bloodbiker mate did a presentation at WI down here in Cornwall. The ladies loved it and have already organised fundraisers already. You guys (and girls of course) are heroes all. Out in all weathers. Stay safe guys and thank you

I'm loving it to see your videos. Sadly there is no organization here in The Netherlands to provide such services. Although the traffic in this small country is much more crowded then the UK. Keep up the good work. Greetings from here on the Pan European ST1100.

Great video showing what's involved as a volunteer driver/rider for BB. The FJR 1300 headlight is really good. Great music as well, very professionally produced video. You would have thought the James Padget would get that frikin' door sorted out! Defeats the object of BB getting products to the hospital asap.

Thanks Alex, I’m glad you enjoyed it. There are ongoing talks with the hospital to get the door sorted. Cheers Ralph

great videos . Could they not develop a system of securing the box to the bike similar to that used on container lorries ?
@CapturelightCoUk
@CapturelightCoUk Год назад
Thanks. That sound like a great idea, sadly the milk and blood boxes are different sizes, so it would be problematic. There are some new style boxes slowly coming into service.

Nice videos, good work! I assume you will also use a car in real bad weather, like snow and (black) ice. Are there guidelines for when using the bike or the car? Just curious... Thank you.
@CapturelightCoUk
@CapturelightCoUk Год назад
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed them. The limit on using the bikes is 4 degrees Celsius. But, it’s not because of the bikes, it’s because of the product. Below 4 degrees has an adverse effect on the blood products, so we have to use a car. The riders will still go out in much lower temperatures. In fact my induction ride was at 1 degree C. Saying that, it is also left to the judgement of the rider, if they feel it is unsafe to ride then they will use a car. I hope that answers your questions. Cheers Ralph

You introduced the bike which looks like it's in Phantom Blue (under the stickers), thank you. I have a couple of questions: The Sat Nag you use, which is it and how is it mounted? The Extended mirror hand guards, you say they work well, do they make your hands very warm in the summer?
@CapturelightCoUk
@CapturelightCoUk Год назад
Yes, Redheart is Matt blue, our other bikes tend to be Tech Graphite. I’m not sure what the exact Sat Nav model number is, as they are a few years old, but it is a Garmin 3xx type. It is mounted on a bracket which is fixed on the two front tank mounts. The Mirror Visors do cut down the airflow over your hands, but I can’t honestly say that my hands got too hot in the summer. My own FJR has standard mirrors and I don’t intend to pay the £200 price. I’d rather wear heated inner gloves and use the grips in the winter. I hope that helps.

@capturelight ((Jerry?) Could you give me the make/model of the helmet you use as a bloom biker please. I am looking for a similar design that will low my Mike and speakers comfortably
@CapturelightCoUk
@CapturelightCoUk Год назад
Hi Neil. I’m not sure where you got Jerry from😂, but it’s not a problem. The white helmet is a Shark EVO ES fitted with a Sharktooth Prime Bluetooth headset. The grey helmet is a Shark EVO GT fitted with a Cardo Freecom 4X. The EVO GT is a much better helmet, quieter, more comfortable and better made. It also comes with a pin lock. I hope that helps. Cheers Ralph

Good job sir! I’m about to join AIM and want to be a blood biker in W Yorks. I may contact you for some advice 😊 On a separate note, wouldn’t the blood boxes stack on top of each other? The straps certainly looked long and secure enough!
@CapturelightCoUk
@CapturelightCoUk Год назад
Thank Neil. Good luck with the IAM training. You’re more than welcome to ask me anything, however do bear in mind that different groups may have slightly different rules. Maybe your local group has a facebook group you could join? With regard to the boxes, it’s actually down to the weight, not the size. Strange as it may seem, when a standard bike can carry a fully loaded Topbox and pillion! Apparently it’s all to do with type approval. Cheers Ralph

Why do you use a car during the day and bike at night?
@CapturelightCoUk
@CapturelightCoUk Год назад
During the day, we may have to carry a lot more than one blood box and the bikes are only rated for one box. Often we will be covering more than one main hospital.

I'm getting ready to retire in the next year, and am planning to do similar volunteer work in the USA. Can anyone put me in touch with the Livery that produces/cuts the 3M vinyl that your bikes wear? I ask because in my opinion it's better to go with a company experienced in these matters, that already has the patterns (mine is a BMW R1200RTP). Thanks.
