If you're looking for toucans, oropendula, tanagers, woodpeckers, honeycreepers, and lots more colorful birds, you've come to the right place. This is my first and most popular bird video. Enjoy and Pura Vide from Costa Rica Bird Cam!
This is absolutely stunning! I could sit there all day watching the parade of beautiful birds- my fellow birdwatching friends are going to love this, thank you for sharing😊
I put this on full screen and then didn't want to take a sip of my coffee for fear of scaring away the birds, made me laugh when I realized what I was doing. Thank you for the morning entertainment!
You know you have a world class bird feeder!! I play it for my cockatoos who get excited watching it. Cockatoos in Hawaii watching toucans in Costa Rica, lol.
@@CostaRicaBirdCam Wow..I'm sorry to hear that! When I lived in Yucatan, MX by the ocean..it was not only paradise but everything was so cheap! Fruit, Veggies, Meat, Chicken..even the restaurant food and beer was plentiful and super cheap. And the healthcare was Universal and the meds were cheap as well. I guess it really depends where you find your paradise when it comes to cost. But it looks like you have a very nice house and lifestyle so thanks for sharing and feeding the beautiful birds amigo!
My goodness, I am from Brazil and the Tucanos are one of our national symbols. I had never seen them eating 🙀😳 Thanks so much for sharing 👍🙏 I know someone who has been to Costa Rica and she said she was marvelled by so many beautiful birds. Your videos prove it 😻
Love this! My wife’s says I’m like an old man sitting on our porch and watching birds. Lol but I do and it’s enjoyable! We have blue birds and purple martin colonies.
I have really enjoyed my window feeders. I even have a hummingbird window feeder now. You do have to put lines on windows so birds dont smack into them.
I love Costa Rica, its beyond anything I could have ever imagined. We went to a Dole pineapple farm and they cut a green pineapple off the plant and we ate it. It tasted 1000x better than any ripe pineapple in Arizona USA. The fruit in general was mind blowing how good it was.
I found that was also true with their chicken and beef. Much better than US. At least 15 years back there were no chemicals or antibiotics. Super fresh delicious chicken..
@@carkod Many birds enjoy a varied diet including fruit, fish, insects and/or even small mammals. Toucan's mostly subsist off fruit, thrush play a vital role in disseminating many plant species, and the black-cowled oriole even drinks nectar. You are right that it's not good for _some_ birds to eat _some_ things, but I personally doubt any of the birds shown here would experience bad health from what was on offer.
@@carkod There are certainly plenty here! 6% of the world's biodiversity is in this little country. They can have all they want. At different times of the year, their diet changes. Now, they're returning from migration, nesting, and mating. What their bodies crave is calories. They want fruit. That's why they migrate here. We have an abundance.
I have to just add that what we see as hard is really necessary. Seasonal variability in food supply is what governs the behavior, health, and life cycles of many wild birds. Breeding is one example. If conditions for breeding are always perfect it becomes physiologically unhealthy for it to be in breeding readiness constantly ....as they often inadvertently are in captivity. Birds have many environmental triggers for behaviour that the average person doesn't realise.
@@infiniteawareness2698 Why would you say they aren’t eating the bread even though they clearly are in this video? They wouldn’t even know that the bread is poisonous if we also don’t taste it. And where the heck do you get the statement, “the government and Monsanto poisoned our bread”? That is so out of context and why for any other reason would the government poison our food?
@@SMACKADOOS Boy, you must be some kind of paid troll. You jumped on my statement so fast it is ridiculous. The little itty bitty corner of bread they did eat was probably by accident. 4 slices of bread there and a few little nibbles gone and you are saying they ate the bread? MONSANTO AND THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT HAVE BEEN POISONING OUR FOOD AND WATER FOR A LONG TIME. WAKE UP. FLUORIDE, GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOODS, RADIOACTIVE WASTE, PESTICIDES, HERBICIDES LIKE ROUND UP AND MORE ALL DUMPED ON THE EARTH GET INTO OUR FOOD AND WATER DONE BY OUR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND THE PEOPLE THEY SUPPORT LIKE MONSANTO. LOOK IT UP.
Ok, I’m admitting it. I’m jealous. They are so beautiful! I can’t imagine what it must be like to live on an island paradise. But this gives me a good idea. Awesome.💖💖💖💖💖
Wow! So many gorgeous birds and an adorable Squirrel! You are blessed! BTW: You may want to invest a few dollars in an ant moat for your Hummingbird Feeder because my Hummingbirds won't feed with ants. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video with us! I have a visiting Baltimore Oriole that loves natural grape jelly but he isn't interested in oranges so I will offer melon & banana tomorrow. I can't believe how much I enjoy watching Blue Jays, Cardinals, Chickadees, Collared & Mourning Doves, Goldfinches, House Finches, Rusty Blackbirds, Sparrows, Tufted Titmouse', Woodpeckers, Wrens and Squirrels at my feeders. FYI: I live in Georgia, USA (:
We are very lucky in the SE U.S. to have such a variety of birds. Each morning they start twittering as soon as I open the glass door to the deck. They sit on the deck rails and wait for me to put it out there. They seem to know I won't hurt them-I'm the 🐦 bird lady.
They have no interest in the processed bread. Just want healthy, tasty fruit. :) What was that large bird that made off with half a banana around 18:00?
Dass e So it’s ok if the birds injure their selves on those nails that are sticking up? It was just a suggestion to keep the birds safe. No need to be disrespectful to someone trying to help.
It looks like most of the birds are smart enough not to eat it, but yes it's bad for them. Especially waterfowl because ducks and geese will gorge themselves on bread. (Look up angel wing syndrome.)
Yes, they have several calls. One sounds like rustling leaves. Another is poly-tonal and very distinctive, sometimes accompanied by a a bowing motion. I don't think it's a mating call, because they do it all year long. They also build fascinating nests made of fibers from banana leaf stems. They hang them from trees. Many are more than a meter in length! Really interesting birds, and beautiful!
Thanks for sharing, and it is a great reminder of my trip (primary for bird watching) to Costa Rica earlier this year. I'm a bit concerned to see you feeding bread as this is definitely not bird food. Seeds? more fruit?
Very good idea you guys! Very inspiring...Only one little thing little worrying -sharp nails. I think birds might injure themselves if rushed or scared off, or even by a bad landing. If these nails at least wouldn't be so sharp, filed down a bit or snipped off somehow,or even nailed other way around, that would be just perfect.
I throw some bread in my backyard every single day from left overs in the bakery, I noticed the same exact birds show up and know I will throw the bread after a couple weeks of trusting me I guess... I think that's a myth
Oh my, God! You have beautiful birds in Costa Rica! I did an Eco-Tour there many years ago. it was an awesome trip. All of the wildlife is incredible. Loved your country.
Beautiful video. Please excuse me but I can't help but suggest that the points on the melon sticks be dulled a bit. You're very kind to your birds to feed them so well. God bless.
the spraying of chemicals to kill moisquitos and other insects has killed off song birds in USA...I think the chemicals stops the breeding or thinning the egg shell, just a thought
I LOVE this! I live in Beaumont, Texas, United States. I have my back patio dressed in tropical green foliage with bird feeders & a hot tub. In the summer, I turn off the heater of the hot tub and just pretend it is a lagoon in the tropics. I wish tropical birds were in my area. Thanks for sharing.
Well behaving birds you have there - not fighting over the food and no crumbs under the table - sitting on the bread does not count ;)) Most of them like fruit better - especially banana - right ? I'm at the other end of the world - very different bird species here ... but the squirrels are the same - cute little "food-thieves" :)) Beautiful pictures ! . . .
Thank You for the awesome assortment of colorful birds that visit your tasty fly in ! Hello, from Anchorage Alaska. A piece of visual heaven you have there !
Wow este video es genial! I love birds! Panama also has lot’s of birds. I lived 10 years in Panama and I woke up everyday at 6:30 to go birding. I visited Costa Rica every month. These two countries are amazing! Has anybody visited Panama or Costa Rica? Tell me!
I live in Florida, which I feel is the next best thing. I had parrots on my bird feeder the other day. The only sad part about living in such a beautiful place is watching development happen all around me. I don't know if that's true in Costa Rica.
@@junodonatus4906 Where we live, not so much. No big developments or anything like that. There is some sprawl in the big cities. There's only 5 million people in the entire country.
@@CostaRicaBirdCam That's reassuring, It seems Costa Rica is a very eco-conscious country. I've been to there twice. My second trip was a birdwatching getaway at Selva Verde. I miss the rainforest, from the early morning howler monkeys to the nighttime hikes. The way people live reminds me of my parents home country of Croatia. Pura Vida!
Wonderful!!! What a lovely view, feeder, birds and plants!! Thank you for feeding them so well! I wonder if the toucan caught the eye of another and was doing his mating dance! Awesome video.
You should put wine bottle corks on the nails holding the bread...i know the birds are careful but all I can see are those SHARP nails sticking up at this beautiful birds! Love the video! Thank you!
Darlin,The Fruit is fine, in fact I encourage More (Grapes & Raisins) However NOT the bread..., It is actually Not good for them... How many birds do you know of in nature that bake bread? Stick to only the fruit ;)
Nice birds and video, but those nails freak me out. I know the birds will not land on them, but if they get into a fight one could be pushed against the nail and get hurt. Any way you could just turn them around, as bread and fruit will certainly go through the head of the nails. Just me as a concerned mom and as a child I also stepped on a nail and had to get a injection against Tetanus. Sorry just freaks me out thinking about it.
@@CostaRicaBirdCam I thought the bread was to provide traction for the birds' talons, and also to soak up excess juices from the fruit. 😅 Great video! So many colorful birds!
Are you playing music the last few minutes?? That Toucan is either dancing or drank too much sugar water. I couldn't stop laughing or watching!! My friend had a pet Toucan in FL decades ago. He was a character, but this bird deserves their own gym.
