The first proper song that truly deserves to be in the charts in years.

The thing with Lady Gaga is that she instantly develops an insane and convincing chemistry with whoever male leads. And her voice fits any genre. She is an artistic chameleon!

Gaga and Bruno did NOT disappoint

Gaga is a great vocalist, a true artist. A wonderful duo.

LG can sing anything. To sing with Bruno, Metallica, Tony Bennett, Ariana grande, Bradley cooper, Florence Welch, and Beyoncé really proves that she’s probably one of the most versatile vocalists in music.

She definitely went back and rerecorded singing the ciggy part so that it sounded like she had a cigarette. It sounds nuts... but she CLEARLY did it.

Most of the time I hate reactors who keeps repeating each part but when it comes to this I like those reactors repeating each part of this song 😂

I bet Lady Gaga re-recorded her section just for the video. It does sound like she sings with a cigarette and it’s NOT on the audio version 😂

This is what happens when two perennial musical students pair up. Their tonal quality is almost like a yin and yang. He leans toward more aspirate and she leans toward more chord closure. They also use their vocal fry similarly. But their blend is beautiful. And the play between minor and major chords really tugs at the heartstrings. It also has that brill building wall of sound feel in the production. Literally no other two artists could have pulled this off. This won’t trend on tik tok but it should to teach these kinds on that platform how to construct a perfect pop song.

I commented this in the actual music video, but gosh this is so 2010s IN A GOOD WAY and they both seems to be enjoying the project so much... oh simpler times....

I'm no expert in music, but what I really, really admire and appreciate about Bruno Mars is that whenever he sings his songs he makes it a point to change the arrangement a little bit (but not making it too different) especially in concerts and TV shows. He puts a new perspective on it whether it be an amazing new addition to the choregraphy or adding an extra musical instrument to highlight some parts, etc. He makes his own songs "new" again to the eyes and ears of the listeners. But more importantly, it's his big effort that I appreciate most in pleasing his fans and his audience. I mean, he can just sing and we will all go ga-ga over him! But, nope, he goes the extra mile and make everything fresh again. And, he never runs out of ideas even though he sings the same hit song! It's amazing! He is a genius!!! Thank you, Bruno! Glad you are in this generation!

Bruno could easily be a rock vocalist, his controlled grit/distortion in his voice is always satisfying to hear

This is a great reaction! I read this somewhere else, so take it for what it is, but apparently LG went back into the studio to re-record the part where she has the cigarette in her mouth, by having an actual cigarette in her mouth so that it would sound more authentic. If this is true, and it completely sounds to me like something she would do, that's exactly the kind of authenticity I expect from her. The professionalism of these two together is really astounding. And it looks like they were actually enjoying themselves too!

You might have added: (1) he says the word "I" *twice* at the opening, beautifully guiding the audience to *listen* carefully; (2) he hits that "d" at the end of the word "hold" just hard enough to stress that he means it, literally, as in "hold onto you"; and (3) they both drop down softly when they say, separately, "just for a while", and both go big and dramatic -- reminding us we're talking about the possible end of the world -- when they sing it together during the close. That "just for a while" a great phrase to place in the lyric just before the words "and *DIE*", which they hit extra hard. Romance and the apocalypse sit right next to one another. Thanks for your wonderful, enlightening explication.

The first 2 times I was able to hear just snippets of this song I had zero clue who was involved yet INSTANTLY deeply appreciated how pretty the voices and rest of how the song was crafted. Zoned in Wishing and waiting for it to repeat so I could capture what it was. So now....I can't stop listening to it.
