Can't beat a chorus of bullfrogs a background sounds to a video. A lot of interesting sounding books. The Heart Beats for Ancient Beasts sounds especially interesting because, as you said, it has South African folklore in it. I don't believe I ever read a John Saul books. I recall his books were big in my younger years.
Thanks for watching! Yes, they did create a unique "ambiance" for this video. 😀The Heart Beats For Ancient Beasts sounds very interesting. I will give John Saul another chance one day.
All of Calvin Demmer's books you showed look fantastic, but I think Dark Celebrations would be a perfect October read. Oh, wow, the bullfrogs are loud🤣
Thanks Jen! I think I'm going with the Ancient Beasts one in October because the author says it is most popular. However, they are fairly short, so I might be able to fit both in for October. Yes they are loud! 🤣They have been quiet since then. Hopefully it's not just a recovery, smoke break thing. 🤣
Hey Cliff, what a great haul and Her Heart Beats for Ancient Beasts sound awesome, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on that one. I love The Rats, it's so vicious in places. I'm thinking of reading all of James Herbert's books again at some point, I love the stories he tells. Those bullfrogs are noisy buggers!
Thanks John, the bullfrogs are very noisy during mating season. 😂I am really looking forward to reading some local horror. The Rats is awesome, and I love the cover. Thank you so much for watching.
Those South African horror books look really cool. They sound great. It is great that he found your channel. You were just saying there isn't enough South African horror. The Rats is so good. Great Haul!
I think bull frogs are just excited for another Cliff’s Dark Gems video! 😂❤ Ooo I love the cover for Her Heart Beats for ancient beasts! I’ve heard such good things about Jonathan Mayberry, I need to check him out! Same with John Saul Great video as always - I always get such amazing recommendations from you!
Thanks buddy! If Bullfrogs get horny watching my videos, then I should be a youtube sensation by now, large groups watching on giant screens and .... 🤣Sorry, let me just retrieve my mind from the gutter. 🤣I think I will be reading Her Heart Beats for Ancient Beasts in October. I will definitely give John Saul another chance.
@@CliffsDarkGems I’m right there with you re: mind in the gutter buddy 😂😂😂😂 You just need a couple more bull frog videos and you’ll go viral I just know it lol!
I just can’t count spring as the spooky season and I know it’s spring in South Africa since you guys are in the southern hemisphere we get all the spooky vibes with autumn here in the northern hemisphere no shade
Yes, it is rather strange for a South African who loves dark and spooky things. Still, I am happy the weather is starting to warm up, it's been a cold winter.
How cool that your were gifted four horror books. Through The Ravenous Night We Ride is the one I would like you to read. I’m very interested in your review of that. Wow! Those frogs, are you kidding me! 😂😂😂
Thanks for watching. Yes, i also think the cover is wild. The frogs were very noisy but have obviously finished there business, all quiet now. 😄Probably lounging about smoking cigarettes now. 😂
That's pretty cool, Cliff! I remember finding a local author that wrote about a Private Eye from Hamilton in 1947. I was pretty excited. I did reply to your email regarding a livestream, just to let you know.
Thanks so much Jim! It was great to get my hands on some local horror. I will check for your mail now. Hi Jim, I can't see your message in my inbox. I also looked in spam. Could you send it again please.
Yeah, you might want to read the whole whole Pine deep trilogy from the beginning because it sounds like it’s a story that continues from one book to the next so there might be cliffhangers and then you’re reaching the conclusion with the book you already own
Dark Celebration sound like a good October read! 😀 So awesome finding The Rats! I liked that book. I have some John Saul but not read them, actually have Guardian.
Thanks for watching! Agree that Dark Celebration may be the best option for Halloween. The Rats is such pulpy, gory fun. I will give John Saul another chance.
