As these two mothers await justice, another mother, Shivani Agrawal, has attempted to subvert it. Shivani, mother of the minor driver, provided her blood sample in place of her son's for his alcohol test and paid three lakh rupees to doctors at Pune's Sassoon Hospital to facilitate the swap. Now on the run and reportedly hiding in Chandigarh, Shivani’s actions are the latest revelation in the unravelling of this influential family. Vishal Agarwal, the minor's father, is in custody for coercing their driver to take the blame and bribing doctors. SK Agarwal, the grandfather, who allegedly threatened and kidnapped the driver and had ties to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, is also under arrest. This family used its influence in a desperate bid to secure their child's release, disregarding the immeasurable cost of the two lives lost.
