It takes a lot of indepth study to understand hinduism. There r basically no rules for living as a hindu but basic beliefs and rules of nature that are inherent. The foremost rule is of Karma that of action n reaction. Whatever are your actions you get an equivalent reaction. You do good and dont hurt others... Good will come to you and no one hurts u. There is no violence in the name of religion here. God is that only one ultimate power but he is not involved to give u reward or punishment. Thats the work of the nature and he has created nature such with rules. Nature rules. You reap what u sow. But God is merciful. If you repent from your heart ,not words, He can negate or reduce punishment by nature which is due. He is happy if you r good, nature rewards u. You love him ..he loves u back. You ignore him. He doesnt remind you. As long as u r a good person u get ur rewards from nature whether u r an atheist or a theist. Thus as a hindu you can be a polytheist believe in plenty of gods( superior angels) n demi gods( lower angels) or be an atheist or be a monotheist yet u still remain a hindu.

Hinduism is not a polytheistic religion it's pluralistic religion it has sampradayas which are 1000 times stricter than Islam to be a common normal ignorant man.
