Finally found the exact drain plug I had on my old Lund boat. bought it and installed on my Tracker Classic XL. Greatly decrease the chance of ever forgetting to put your plug in again using this 1" Lund Branded Plug on any boat using a 1" plug.

Great idea. Thanks for sharing. I have the 2018 Heritage. I need to get one of these plugs. We just held a small 3 boat tournament on Table Rock. 2 Heritage boats and 1 Classic boat. We are hoping to get more boats next time.

Sounds interesting. The plug is a great purchase no reason not to do it. I will tell you though even hanging there. for the first time in my life this year I did put the boat in and park the truck as I got in the boat I realized I missed the plug. I reached my hand in the water grabbed the plug hanging there and put it in no problem. used the bilge had no issues. I thought I would never miss it on the ramp with it hanging there. I was wrong but when I did miss it I knew exactly where it was and it was easy to grab and put in even in the water.

Just Jim Time I’m sure I will! I’ve done a handful of mods on my Classic XL over the winter as well. I think maybe I should post some videos of them soon too.

Good deal! For the record I did forget to put it in once regardless. But I quickly realized it, reached into the water and felt for the plug hanging and put it in blind pretty easily.

Hey Jim, love the idea of having a cable for the drain plug. I have been looking for a plug like that could you please share the link where you got it from? Thanks again.

I rarely ever pull my plug out and no water ever collects in the that aft area. But great idea for those that leave their boats outside in the rain or somehow get that much water in their boat.

Glad that works for you. I store my boat in my garage and have never stored it with the plug in.

It is becoming a law in many jurisdictions these days to remove the drain plug when the boat is pulled out of the water. I am like you and don't do it unless I am made to do it because I don't even use the livewell and my bilge is always "bone-dry!" I would more readily do it if I had the "drain plug on leash" shown above.

@@kodi2k6 Good point, Ive often wondered what the point of pulling the plug out time after time and never any water coming out. But for me it's habit, Ive occasionally had water come over the back when stopping to quick though. There pretty Strict about removing invasive species in my area.

great info man! How does the livewell do holding fish? I was wondering about a 3 fish limit of bass? Speed isn't my #1 priority, so I love this boat. Also dropped a sub after seeing a few of your vids! #601

I have only used it for panfish. Works good for that. If I were to guess it could hold three bass but if they were all 5 pounders. it would be tight

Hi jim , I just watched your video on the boat purchase , Thanks for sharing the finance deals you got ,, im going to use that when I go to bargain with BPS , Im looking at the classic xl for my first boat purchase ,, not sure which card is the best to purchase with ,,,, trying to get the interest down as much as possible ,, , how do you like the boat so far ? ,, now that its warmed up have you taken it out ,,, would you do anything different ?

its only been warm enough and not windy one time for me so far. It handles better and drove faster than I was expecting the one time, so I'm happy about that. I was concerned with it being a modified V. but it was good. I've done quite a few upgrades, Happy about all of those, IMO I think it really needs the upgrades right away. Still a good value. I would love to have a Bimini but I dont like the idea of how much back deck it takes up when its down. I know you can take it off but then what's the point. Still debating on that, I remember feeling like I was in the dessert on my last boat in the hot sun. I have no regrets I can think of, but still have some things I want. If you are going to keep the money on the credit card I would go with a loan instead the interest will always be lower. I used a credit card because the points and I was able to pay it off right away. Good luck Its a great boat for the money

But if you park the boat outside wouldn’t the plug get sun damaged
@justjimtime1672
@justjimtime1672 4 года назад
Most Lunds come with them so I don't think its an issue. If you're concerned you could plug it in. This is my second boat with this plug. No issues. I Don't park outside for long periods but my first boat was used and stored outside prior.

Dumb question. Lol why not just leave the plug in?
@justjimtime1672
@justjimtime1672 Год назад
Well, you could leave it in, but it's a good practice to leave the plug out when its not in the water to drain any water that might have gotten in the boat while boating as well as any rain water from traveling. I've always been in the habit to put it before launching and take out after pulling the boat out. Either way, if you have to take the plug out ever to drain water, you wont lose it.

@@justjimtime1672 ive always done the same especially with riveted boats. But being a new boat & allweld i dont see a point in taking the plug out everytime. But definitely doesnt hurt
@justjimtime1672
@justjimtime1672 Год назад
@@shooter3288 To each his own, I think its probably pretty standard procedure. Your question made me wonder if I was following some old misguided rules from 30 years ago that's unnecessary, so I did a quick Internet search. Everything I found said pull the plug when not in water. One person said there are laws in some states (did not verify) that make it illegal to trailer a boat with the plug in due to invasive species. I read about many reasons to do it, which make sense to me. Good luck to you though
