Pulut Panggang is usually filled with spicy dried prawns mixed with pounded grated coconut. However in this recipe, not only have I omitted the santan in the glutinous rice, I have also replaced the traditional spicy prawn filling with Nyonya chang filling. This is not your usual Nyonya Pulut Panggang or Rempah Udang as most commonly known. I wanted this version to taste more like Nyonya chang but with that smoky flavour of charred grilled banana leaves.

Hi Eddie, I like your recipes that came with clear instructions and details. I saw your various glutinous rice recipes that used both pre-soaking and rice cooker methods to cook sticky rice. Do you have fool proof standard short cut method to prepare sticky rice especially for Kueh recipes? 😊

Not Familiar to me..but seems so delicious..wanna try to make this but were i can get that pea flower..can i substitute it? food coloring?

That’s because this is my own creation adapted from Peranakan pulut panggang. You can search online for blue pea flower for sale. Yes you can use food colouring if you can’t get hold of the flowers.
