Nice! I have a Pioneer DJ PLX-500 turntable that looks nearly identical to your AT 120 except that it's white instead of silver. I'm going to purchase another headshell for it and a mono 3mil 78 cartridge/stylus for it as well. I opted for the Ortofon 2m gray as it's wired to connect just fine, but still be in mono. My current record player for 78's is an old BSR MA-65 with the Pickering V-15 MM cartridge and a NOS Pickering 3mil stylus for it.
@@dansettemajor You're welcome to check it out, but I really don't have a lot of record player content on the channel and what is there is several years old now. I really do need to update it as I no longer even have the same system, though I did take out the BSR changer from the old Fisher receiver it was connected to and transplanted it to it's own cabinet. Bought a BSR stand alone turntable off ebay , took out the non working turntable in it and wired up and mounted the MA-65 into it.
Good recording. Can u please guide me how you connect the audio with this video. Is the sound comming via speakers, mic or you have connected turntable via usb and given output in mobile/camera
@@dansettemajorto record using open camera app, I connected via usb to my Android but the quality of sound was not as good as compared to through speakers.
Audio Technica At-vm95e is what I am using, currently, which came with a separate head shell , premounted. The stylus that came with the deck is an Audio Technica ATN95E. That cartridge was okay but I felt I could get better, hence my current cartridge. I was able to get a 78rpm stylus for the original so I use it just for playing 78 records, as seen in the video. Thanks. Hope this helps.
Hi I've recently come across some 1960s 10inc records they look like shallac records what type of model cartridge would I need I'm assuming a 78 stylus..thank you
Absolutely, a 3 mil stylus is essential for 78s. The cartridge depends on what your equipment. For instance, in some of my videos you can see a Sony Cartridge. Sony don't make a 78 stylus so I opted for a cartridge and headshell that will accommodate a 78 stylus, the Audio Technica AT95.
All record players that have 78 speed are good for 78s as long as it has a 3mil stylus. Crosley record players have the speed but not the stylus, plus their sound quality is not high fidelity.
