great talk, I am very inspired by your devotion and progress with the eigenharp. I hope there is more to come from time to time. Also being part of any TED talk is an amazing honor.
It is the first time I see and hear this and I just think it is the most amazing thing! I loved the music that comes from that instrument! It's incredible Geert
Finally, it's not at all an instrument - everything you hear is created in computers and with particular software. The Eigenharp only sends sensoric input to the computer which has to be interpreted by the software. Thus, everything depends on the quality of the software which has to be trained and setup, too. Tendency goes to spend most of your time fumbling electronic sounds and parameters while being surrounded and bound to cables and machines. You'll barely see the daylight again ...
Been wanting one since they were first released but the cost is unfortunately a little high for me and a luxury rather than a necessity...maybe one day. Do you know of any musician deep into experimental/free jazz that used the Eigenharp?
polarnj the Vo Wond is better. unlike the EBow, it's not fixed to one note and can trigger on and off instantly with varying degrees of volume and tone. (I don't own either but seeing the difference between the two and witnessing people proclaim the EBow as the greatest thing ever just grinds my gears.
I'm sorry, but don't see how anyone could disagree that this was awful. Either this individual has not learned to play the instrument, or it's simply a terrible piece of kit.
