Have you seen the video by Je Suis Lou? Her & her husband’s bags both just were stolen in Italy the week of their wedding! Also Tamera Kalenic’s bag was recently stolen while in Italy. The world is no longer what it used to be 😢
@@marguerittetwinkle3624she had her hand luggage stolen at the train station of Milan ! Now it’s a more „usual“ crime on trains but still .. twice in few years is 🥹
This video is beautifully shot and the craftsmanship of these pieces is undeniable. However, it's hard to fully appreciate it in light of the recent concerns raised about Dior's ethical practices. I hope the brand takes this opportunity to address those concerns and ensure their practices align with their stunning creations.
I guess you haven't heard about the scandal with Dior bags being made in sweatshops in India and China in unsafe and inhumane conditions. I'm sure it's not just Dior, but they're the face of it right now. Can't get excited about any "luxury" unboxings these days. 🫤
In this case the factory was in Italy. No doubt workers rights will now be assessed and reformed by the Italian government and Dior will review it’s sub contracting arrangements
@@dapperlygrungy3189 you have the right to spend your money in a way you choose, and I have the right to do the same without having people like you yell at me about it. If you don’t like my content don’t watch.
@@dapperlygrungy3189 it doesn’t cost $53. There are many overheads involved in running a business that this figure does not consider. Regardless, why does anyone care how I spend my money? Worth is in the wallet of the spender, not the person who watches a video and can’t fathom spending the money. You don’t have to buy the bag, but you don’t have the right to tell me I shouldn’t buy one. Yes I’m defensive, I’m being attacked for daring to spend my own money!
I think maybe people are sensitive to anyone spending their money supporting the gross disgusting human rights abuse, especially since you often talk about women’s rights and that you are such a feminist. Maybe it is just the timing?
Wow. Right after you wanted sympathy for the mailman stealing your luxury handbags. I guess some people don’t feel sympathetic about others being treated as slaves and their safety concerns, visas taken from them just because they want to earn a better living wage? Typical
@livingluxwithmeredith What do you think was going to happen? And if you are smart enough to have your own business and be as successful as you are, then you are clearly smart enough to understand what this comparison of CHARACTER , INTEGRITY AND ETHICS is that she is referring to. Just because someone victimized you does not excuse you to overlook the victimization of others. Do better. This response is shameful.
@@notme1255 I assume you have researched every brand you have ever bought from. You know who sewed each piece of clothing you have ever owned. You are 100% confident you have only ever bought from ethical and moral brands. I applaud you for being so conscious.
@@livingluxwithmeredith Thank you, I have become more conscious with the tools that are EASILY found on the internet. And while no one is perfect, you could have sent a message with your dollar that you dislike this brands recent behavior. Maybe I should ship ALL my future packages through DHL despite how they treated you? That sounds fair according to your own logic.
Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Better to have found it and see a swift change. The brand will bounce back, they always do. And workplace practices will change industry wide because of it. Does anyone believe Dior is the only brand at fault?
@@livingluxwithmeredithNo one believe that Dior is the only one at fault. You don’t just say, “Oh well.” I guess it’s hard when blinded by the pretty colors and high price tag you are able to afford. Not everyone can just ignore what is going on and still drop lots of money on a brand.
I just can't help but cringe. With the recent sweatshop forced labor scandal... This just seems so tone deaf.. or it's an influencer gift to boost their sales. Either way, it's just not a good look and disappointing as far as personal morals/ethics.
Many brands have had scandals. Sunlight is always the best disinfectant. Unless we are going to drill down into every brand we buy from, from groceries to clothes to luxury goods, no one can ever be sure who or where our items are made. Brands will learn from their mistakes and bounce back. Think back to the massive Dior scandal in 2011………oh, you need to look that one up? That’s right, because everyone had forgotten.
@@livingluxwithmeredith I was graduating high school in 2011, I wasn't exactly in a position to buy Dior. I was also studying, not paying attention to useless fashion drama. Currently, with the internet, the tools that you can use like the 2023 fashion transparency index that can be easily downloaded, It's easier than ever to have at least a little integrity with our purchases and telling companies with our dollar that this treatment is not okay.
@@HauteGemsDallasI totally agree. Dior was not responsible for the drunk rantings of their lead designer. It’s not the same thing at all in my opinion. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the latest scandal I suppose.
@@livingluxwithmeredith So basically you're saying people can continue making these bags in inhumane conditions just so you can get your dopamine fix? It's shameful to be so detached from reality because this scandal has actually been going on for years with LVMH and is well known by us Italians. So no, they have not learnt from any of their mistakes. If at all they use this 3rd party manufacturers as a way of circumventing the law and not be held responsible. The least you could do is not take part in the circus.
wow!! I cant believe your response! How high did you have to climb up your throne that along the way you mustve dropped and left compassion and picked up a philosophy of “as long as everybody is doing it, its justifiable” smh!
In 2020 the NY Times reported a story on Dior and Saint Laurent and how they sourced embroidery in India mills.. "“Given the product prices, there is a sense that the luxury brands must be doing it right, and that makes them immune to public scrutiny,” said Michael Posner, a professor of ethics and finance at the Stern School of Business at New York University. “But despite the price tags for luxury brand goods, the conditions in factories across their supply chains can be just as bad as those found in factories producing for fast fashion retailers.”
Oh wow! I think that must be my favourite one of these bags ever!! If any bag would tempt me to get a wicker Dior it would be this mini and this colour ❤
Your bag is beautiful I have the light blue exact same model ❤ but yes I can’t appreciate quality decline (50 usd value ) and even less so work standards . The talk about replica being produced in horrendous circumstances comes to mind .. I always had a feeling the real deal is quite likely not better in many cases and that’s fully confirmed now
hello beautiful! I would like to emphasize how much power of influence you have, but it depends on how you decide to use it! in this way you promote the company and help it sell more! but let's say...just imagine what it would be like for you all to unite and declare that you will NOT BUY anything from this brand for a year and stick to it! to use your power in this sense as well
People should always spend their money in a way they are comfortable with. I don’t influence anyone who doesn’t want to be influenced. It is not my role to police how people choose to spend money, and if they are spending this much on a bag they should be making a choice they are comfortable with, and not just blindly buying something someone else has. I think you comment undermines the intelligence of my viewers to think I can sway them to spend over $7000 on a bag just because I have one.
I love the colour. It is beautiful! I like the draw strings and I do have an older Lady Dior with the zipper. The newer wants have an annoying flap. Thanks for sharing...
Congrats Meredith!!! I just purchased the same bag in the candy pink last week in Vegas and I must say, I was sorely tempted by the Aquamarine as well. Yes mine was packaged in the same style box as well. Dioriviera is such a beautiful capsule collection, all the colors were just amazing. There was an East West Lady Dior in the wicker but that only came in a bright coral & I was the least interested in that color but the design itself was adorable. The mini is definitely lighter and the wicker is quite heavy so yes, I agree that the mini is a great size. Again, Congrats on your lovely bag, she's a head turner
At this point I m quite disappointed in the luxury brands .. I want the impeccable quality they did until some 20 years ago . And that for lower prices. Going to individual craftsmen isn’t the solution for me as the creative design behind the fashion houses gets me more. My Solution for now is vintage
Again I wake up to your beautiful face beaming with joy and excitement lovely Meredith and I can see why. The colour of this bag is just stunning. I always wish I could reach into my screen and have a play with your gorgeous bags. Not having luxury stores here is so hard, even if I just wanted to have a play. Though the word on the street is we may be getting some perhaps as soon as next year. YAY! I can only imagine the frenzy there is going to be if this happens. We'll probably have to line up for a week to get instore. Much love. Jenni. XX💙
LVMH is the parent company for Dior.. forced labor affects all of their brands... Kering also have had issues in the past with forced labor in their supply chains. It's a problem in apparel, footwear, home textiles.. everyone should be aware of it ...
Beautiful color. I love green handbags too of late. Now am moving into more colors since i have my neutrals already. Yeah i prefer this size to the bigger one, It is not as heavy. My handbag deal breaker, no heavy handbags anymore.
Love the wicker bags! Good choice Meredith 😊. I think you should get the mini pink one too. Once it's gone it's gone and it too is stunning 🥰 Well considering you won't be getting the orange one 😉❤️
I sure am 😊. I have even justified the purchase by pointing out that since you won't be getting the orange one, you may as well get the pink one. Or I could say 2 blue, 2 pink. Etc etc 😉🥰❤️@@livingluxwithmeredith
Meredith you are so fun and perky !Your new bag is stunning and a happy piece . My Grandmother , an amazing fashionista , always stressed that all greens blend and enhance one another ,no matter the shade.Nature presented us with fab greens that present as a whole beautifully.
I Love the bag & the color grren is so Beautiful❣️ Your blouse is a beautiful match & perfect to wear with ur new bag. What brand is your beautiful blouse?❤❤🥰
Great unboxing! Pretty color! To all those saying negative things about buying from Dior with recent scandals, lots of companies do this. Will you stop eating because the people who pick your fruit and vegetables make very low income? No so stop with negative comments.
So so beautiful. Love the colour, it is the prettiest little bag. Have you seen the Lady D-joy in wicker? It looks like a great size too. 💕 Big congrats 💕
The comments here... omg. People who live in glass houses shouldn't!! Think of all the luxury shops in the world ... do you really think they were all made bespoke in a perfect artisan studio??? Wake up, people. The increases in demand for luxury do not allow for such supply chains and production of old. Profit is the motive. We should not be shocked and being so critical of Meredith will not solve the issue. Play the ball not the person. Love the bag Meredith.
@@h.f.4635 "production of old", so basically you're saying fair wages and working conditions are "out" and labor abuse is so "in" right now. I understand there is a much larger demand, but is it necessary? Is fast fashion levels of production at every level (budget clothing, contemporary and luxury items) and buying things every day or every week necessary? No. And if someone in her position is clearly able to afford bespoke, why not buy bespoke then? She could get to know the artisan and know they're being treated properly. Why choose to buy Dior now of all times? Why not at least temporarily avoid the brand until they fix their standards? And most of all, why couldn't she mention the scandal and have at least a few words of consideration for those suffering? It was ignored and ignoring abuse is not luxury. We've done so much for human rights so why not say something on their behalf? We should demand better of these conglomerates and corporations and we can do that by not giving them our money or speaking against them and neither of those were done.
@h.f.4635 I think you are the one living in glass house ! You mean to say big corporations earning billions is fine but poor working conditions for labourers is fine too ?
Thank you. I would imagine we will see changes to workers rights by the Italian government and we will see changes to subcontracting arrangements undertaken by luxury brands.
Love Dior wicker bags. They’re so stylish , and ladylike. The pouch is what makes it even more practical. Pretty Caribbean green color. I prefer the medium size as I feel the smaller size is more for evening . Both are lovely. Definitely on my wishlist Enjoy 😊
You manifested the green! It’s so pretty. I love the look of these bags, but I don’t think I would use them enough to justify the purchase. Enjoy your new bag. (PS. I appreciated how these stores are taking extra precautions with safety in light of the theft.)
What a beautiful beautiful bag ….. that green is stunning. It’s so you in a wicker bag ….. not that your square 😂 but definitely the perfect bag for you. Have a wonderful weekend xx
I wish I would of bought the mini. I have the medium size in the pink and it is heavy and cumbersome. But she is a beauty… just high maintenance and fussy! I have to be in the right mood to carry her🤣
