Life moves on, children become young men and women and the circle eventually expands. You seem to have thoughtfully navigated a lot of that and are preparing for the next chapters in your life while maintaining the bonds that keep families close despite the miles and independent lives. Ah man I can’t believe how things have evolved over the years it’s been wonderful seeing you all grow individually and as family unit. You’ve brought us so much joy and learning enriching yours and our lives! You’ve live life alternatively and that takes a great deal of courage pushing your boundaries being willing to do so and developing capabilities that in a normal life you’d not have known about. Essential life skills that’ll carry you for as long as you live. 🥰 So excited to see how life unfolds for the kids who are creating their own pathway as young adults. You both adventuring as empty nesters and as you said all coming back together to enjoy another adventure together. I’d kinda want to be Lando experiencing his free spirit with each of you!

It's been heartwarming to witness your journey over the years. Each new phase is so very exciting, and I can totally relate to embracing new adventures! Like you, we have evolved in the way we explore this glorious world and collect experiences and memories. From a giant ground tent to accommodate our XXL family to renting Airbnb's and everything in between. Many cherished memories. Now we're empty nesters and like you, are able to take long trips for months at a time if we choose. We finally settled on a 4WD Ford F250 pulling a small trailer that's set up for off-grid camping and a Toyota 4Runner outfitted for overlanding. We can get to some pretty epic and out-of-the-way places with the truck and trailer to create a home base for a week or more, then take the 4Runner further into the backcountry to explore and even stay a night or two. We spend a ridiculous amount of money on gas but we rarely pay to camp so it seems to even out. I can't wait to see your new set-up and all the future adventures you'll experience. Take care

You are describing what I want-can’t wait to see what you got! I’m 5-6 years into trips up to about six weeks at a time living out of the back of my 4Runner. I love it and it’s allowed me to see some great places, but I’m just at a point where I want more comfort. I told my family that this past summer’s trip from San Diego to Banff/Jasper and back was my last trip in the back of the 4Runner, but I haven’t figured out what’s next yet.

When I was growing up in the 1960s, every Sunday night we watch the Walt Disney TV show as a family. It was sort of magical back then, so long ago. But now when Sunday evening comes it's the Epic Family Road Trip for us. Keep up the magic.

Very helpful! My wife and I are similarly evolving through a mix of adventures. Still mostly 4x4 and rooftop tent on our M416 trailer, but two changes on the horizon: 1) Shed at our base location in the UP for storage, and 2) Small hardside camper on our old Ram 3500. Our requirements not an exact match, but similar. You sharing your analysis has been very helpful to us.

It’s been a blessing to watch your videos and to experience what it’s like to see the progress of the life you live and the love of adventure’s and to share that with us. I loved it when I was in scouts and cadets, we travelled all over New Zealand and we had ups and downs as you did like getting stuck in mud and snow, hail storms, nearly drowning in rivers while kayaking. I’m not a Patreon subscriber, so this is just a guess, but I’m betting on an EarthCruiser… probably one of the Fuso/Isuzus for a smaller international-friendly footprint, not the TerraNova (although I really wish it is the TerraNova). A cliffhanger! You narrowed it down quite a bit though. Option paralysis can (for me at least) really slow the process of moving on to something new. It looks like you have chosen a fun and rewarding path ahead.

First class as always with a decent serving of nostalgia . I have however a tricky question , it’s one I asked Brad @ trailrecon whom I believe has the greatest of integrity in many ways . He didn’t answer it with a ‘gee thanks , that’s a great question I’ll get back to you …’ Obviously he didn’t. Should you be interested I’ll frame my question in the most non contentious way that my Language skills afford. Your end of the bargain, to answer it with a piece to camera unless of course you feel it completely inappropriate ……Either way I look forward to the next chapters !

You are very lucky to be in such a beautiful country. I can drive from one end of the UK to the other in a day-- less than a day. . Trail Rcon have been experimenting with a Mecedies Sprinter. Put on bigger wheels and upgraded suspension.

Amazing to think one of your first "Jeep" adventures was here in New Zealand. I watched those videos recently and really enjoyed them. Sadly, some people take off roading to extremes and are doing damage to quite fragile environments. Is this an issue you face on your travels?
