It is a floor by the meter by Gerflor that lays down without lifting along the edges, no glue is needed, just lay it; a quick and reversible solution that preserves the original floor.
It is made up of various layers, the upper visible one is PVC, the lower white one is a non-woven fabric similar to felt which makes it slightly soft to walk on. The lists are 200cm high, the thickness about 4mm.
Aesthetic appearance.
It may happen that the real wood slats or the serigraphy of the adhesive floors do not match the laminate of the pre-existing furniture. In these cases the choice of a neutral color is not necessarily a stopgap.
By a stroke of luck we found this material in the first warehouse of flooring by the meter visited, at first glance it immediately seemed well matched with the table and kitchen tops and suitable for creating a good contrast with the rest of the furniture.
Some more information.
The work as a whole is quite easy but it cannot be done entirely in the camper.
To detect the profile I used plotter paper in rolls but wrapping paper could also work, the important thing is that it is new and not too light; before starting I cut the sheets into pieces of various sizes with a straightedge and cutter to be able to place them along the edges of the furniture, overlapping them and fixing them together with scotch tape or paper tape.
Once the entire surface was covered, the perimeter profiles defined, I fixed all the joints with packing tape to obtain a non-deformable paper model as if it were made up of a single sheet.
It is preferable to keep a millimeter of air along the entire edge to allow the material to settle well; it should be considered that after having laid the floor it becomes difficult to trim, above all it is not easy to obtain clean cuts, therefore a minimum of tolerance is better.
Material and tools needed for work:
- paper;
- a good sturdy cutter with new blades;
- scissors;
- ruler, preferably made of metal and long enough to be held still with a knee during the cut;
- scotch tape or paper tape;
- packing tape;
- a piece of plywood or similar material (not cardboard) to put underneath during the cuts so as not to irreparably damage the work surface with the blade, in my case the living room floor.

In this sheet I mention Gerflor only to describe the material shown in the video, other products will be equally valid; it is important to choose a floor that allows you to make clean cuts without offering excessive resistance to the blade (also for the safety of our fingers).
Possible contraindication
This material in particular, as already mentioned, has a soft felt-like white lower base (see 03:27-03:37) this on the one hand makes it comfortable to walk on but may also have some contraindications to take into account in advance:
- if the upper part in PVC is perfectly waterproof and washable, like any floor, the lower part, absorbing water, could create problems in case of infiltrations or flooding.
- and again, in the case of visible thicknesses, such as those of the cockpit mat or the shower mat in the video, the edge of the cut would remain white and a little delicate, I solved the problem by impregnating and consolidating the edge first with vinavil passed with a small brush and then with a water-based acrylic gray (the one from paint tubes) which once dried is very stable and insensitive to water.
