This sounds like an excellent idea, just play the game the way you enjoy it. Honestly the main reason I even watch your shenanigans is your infectious enthusiasm for the games you play, so you giggling over some mad custom spaceship is excellent.
I had no idea there were so many mods for the game... I checked out nexus mods and there are only a few pages of things that didn't seem very interesting. Now that I know where to look, I'm a bit blown away and might even restart my playthrough... dang!
Love your videos man! I recommend getting the advanced gunnery control mod so that you can make sure your PD weapons don't fire on shields etc, only missles and fighters. It does other stuff too but I mainly just like that feature. Also seeing as you're in the vanilla sector you can use one of the three abandoned habitat type places as a home base to store your ships for free. I think there's one in the Corvus star system off the top of my head, another one is possibly Hybrasil and I can't remember where the last one is
Oh, are you not aware of how the Hivers work? This going to be a funny series 😂. Basically anytime you enable that mod in your playthrough, it becomes a Hiver playthrough. You'll see soon enough 🫡.
Sometimes the mod "WhichMod" would be really nice. So we and you can see really quick what thing comes from what mod and we dont have to comb through the mod video :D But anyways - i love your starsector series. Watched all playlists so far :D
11:40 that's the Mukashi, or however you spell is mod. I like that one, all the ships are SUPER powerful, and yet still not OP. Get all of them that you can! 17:29 I will say thought that the carriers ARE pretty weak. I mean they're STILL carriers after all.
Yes, it was Archimedes. No, not magnifying glasses. Legend has it he used mirrors arranged in such fashion to focus several light beams in the same spot and started roasting the enemy ships. The Mythbusters tried to replicate that with no success, so they called it busted while we are using the same mirrors to boil water to steam and produce electricity aka concentrated solar power.
Not even close mate, glass mirrors didn’t exist to the extent they do now in 200BC. The surviving accounts mention the ships were destroyed with “fire” not specifically a “heat ray” or “magnifying glass”. It was initially thought they used an array of polished bronze however more recent hypothesis suggest it may have been some sort of steam device that was akin to a flame thrower or even “Greek fire”.
The Pandemonium is so fracking hard to fit. You either end up with a reasonable carrier that has nothing but PD, or the saddest fighters you ever did see but backed up by reasonable dakka (the Diable non-wanzer fighters are godawful.) Same for the Maelstrom, really, but not quite so hard.
6:31 Yeah it looks like you might have the nomad mod installed? There are several mods that change late game factions/enemies And it looks to me like you've got some installed. That's how my game looked when I tried to do an "all the mods" playthrough. I should look at doing that again, .97 has been out for a while, there are probably more compatible mods out.
Just beware the Hivers are actually insane. Just insane. Fight them with caution but also fight them cuz they will absolutely dominate the other factions
Hope Patrick got his passport up to date for the holidays as he still busy looking looking for food lol This game looks fun to play, is there a mod that lets you board enemy ships as that would be super cool with missions to rescue VIPs or capture VIPs, Pirate Captains. And bases as well with missions so Patrick can join you once he's finished eating his mushrooms.....
Dude please for the love of all that's holy organize your ships...instead of having them all in a random cluster and sort your inventory from time to time...great vid as always but I swear I cant be the only person that driven insane by it... and the constant cheapness on supplies.. I think this is probably the first video I have seen I a long time you didn't run out of supplies 5 times.
58:56 One of the abandoned stations for free storage? IDK, maybe those are modded out or patched out? (I currently play 096 vanilla, with the Corvus station serving me as a very nice hub)
Not quite, the Yamato had 9 Japanese "46 cm/45 Type 94 naval guns" which equates to 18.1 inches. She was also designed and built BEFORE WW2 started (laid down for construction in 1937) however Japan officially announced it's withdrawal from the Washington Naval Treaty in 1934 although in theory it's provisions remained in force formally until 1936.
to pay less to a smaller crew, I guess. They ALWAYS need their money. You SOMETIMES find a ship. IF you find one, you can always hire some crew at your next stop. Until then, you don't have to pay a larger crew. It woud be a money drain for nothing. The only exception could be an exploration, where you don't plan to touch the core worlds for a while.
@@ThreatX You need to enable each part of the mod manually in the config (+ you can edit everything to suit yourself!), by default only the construction of stations is enabled and other functions are disabled.
my main pc broke along with everything on it. It will be repaired in 1-3 weeks so cannot access any of my old data in the meantime (this is not on steam so no cloud storage for saves)
0:24 THANK FREAKIN GOD. I can't STAND the RU-vidry gimmics. I play games to relax and have fun. If I want to put a game on super easy baby mode, then by god, I will. AND I'll still upload it to youtube!
I am not really enjoying age of sail ships in space. I get the humor of it and for one episode it would be great fun, but if you are making a series out of this... No.
Any chance to commandeer these hive ships at some point? ... great content you have there btw, binging all the time, love all these space storys very much 🖖🪐☀💫
