Charlie and I have a new home and renovations have begun! I also want to share my biggest insight gained after a year as a full time nomad. Info for the bolder women weekend can be found at… www.ireneharlow.com/events
A traveling homebody makes perfect sense to me. So glad I’ve found your site and will enjoy watching the progress of your new van. Hugs from Dorothy in Arizona 🤗
Look at all the space you have now Charlie. I see such a difference in your little fur baby Zia and I’m going to enjoy watching you turn Emma2 into a space fitting for your life. I’m excited about that. Have fun with your project. Happy Sunday! ❤️🐶🚎👍🎉☀️
I totally understand this: I'm a home body that likes to travel... with my house. We travel in a Roadtrek SRT and it is small but we do have a home to come back to. Maybe this is the appeal of RV's? Travel with all our amenities and stuff we like to have with us. Charlie will love all the space!! How about a comfortable chair and a table you can do so art onto. Glad you found what you needed and best of luck.
Thanks very much, I wish you many happy trips in your home on wheels! I have thought about a comfy armchair instead of a sofa, or the futon that’s in there now and do want it to make it feel like a cozy home, rather than an RV. 🚐❤️
Yes, he seemed pretty comfortable with the bus the first time I took him into it. I did keep the wall directly behind the drivers seat and will probably have some hooks on it, but I don’t actually have much that needs to be hung up.🚐🐶❤️🇨🇦
Congratulations on your new vehicle! It’s super! What a great space! We’re very interested to follow your adventure (we’re slowly building up a van ourselves).
What fun!! Very cool! I'm happy for you, and inspired by you. I'm 69 and in the process of renovating my little ranch house. Doing most of the work myself, and boy do I understand when you say you feel your age. Me too, but I've found that if I just take my time, it's more fun, and more do-able. Looking forward to your progress!
Wow! Big changes! I love all the space now. ♥️ Can't wait to see what you do to decorate as you have such a talent for that. Congratulations on the new "home" ☺️
in 2009 when we updated our class A floors we put quark floors in. I think they are the best for warmth. Cork is wood so, just use something like Murphy's Oil soap to clean. If you don't like the floors, live with them before you decide what to do because they are great, they give cousion underfoot, great for the keens and lower back.
I totally agree Donna, cork is great for warmth and comfort and a renewable source, so it’s environmentally friendly too! Unfortunately, mine only look like cork. 🫤
I'm so excited for you and grateful you are bringing us along. Thank you. That's such a fantastic bus to transform with your great taste. 🎉🎉🎉🎉Blessings
Love watching your renovation of Emma II! Can't wait to see future videos, the Boho-Scandi sounds very interesting, and I'm sure you will have it looking amazing!
I really hope this works out well for you and brings you much happiness. I’m certainly going to enjoy watching your progress. A brave and wonderful choice. 😘❤🇬🇧
Congratulations on your new home! You look so happy. Can't wait to see what you do with this lovely space. No doubt it will be welcoming, comfortable and stylin'! Have fun! (PS Congrats on topping 4K subscribers! 🚐)
We are really excited for you too!! Can hardly wait to see the finished Bo-Ho Skandi bus!! We will be in Quartzsite in March (my first time) we are pulling a 31 foot beast. 😊 Can hardly wait to leave the miserable Western WA crappy winters😂
I love your home. I've been looking for a bus the same size. I'm 70 and was living in my car but it's on its last leg. So s friend is letting me live in a bedroom in there house. This way I can save money for a purchase of a bus. I live on SS so it's going to take a long while. I'm praying so hard for a reliable vehicle.🙏🤞 Good luck and happy travels. ❤
Hello Zia fellow Canadian retiree here. We have an older Dodge Roadtrek class b camper for short range week long outings. You have a very nice larger buss. Likely a gas v10 or maybe a 7.3 diesel. A fuel budget would be helpfull for longer trips. I am wondering if you will be following the warmer winter weather, ie Arizona or be looking to winter on Vancouver Island ? The temperature will determine how much insulation and heat that you will need to be reasonably comfortable. The large windows are nice in the warmer weather if you can park in some shade, but can also let in a lot of heat. In colder weather all that glass can lose a lot of heat, even with insulated curtains. Also the cold glass can be a surface for condensation to form on. For colder clinates some builders will remove or cover over the extra windows that they do not need or want. You have a lot of choices to think about. Another thing to consider is what to do with the bi-fold glass doors. Not very secure, especially for a senior lady. Some people replace this door with a single steel house door and door jamb. With a window in the door. There is a utuber young lady whose channel is called Regretless, she has a similar bus that was done up by Chuck Cassidy who is in my opinion the smartest man there is for his knowledge of doing quality bus conversions. Her bus is the best one i have seen in years of watching utube. There is a lot of good FREE ideas to gain from her bus . It is worth looking up on utube. Her name is Alyssa. She has a home base in Colorado . I will be looking forward to your journey in converting your bus and your travels on the road. I am 70 so not much difference in our ages. Have a nice day. Tom in Canada in the Maritimes at the NB-NS border.
Hi Tom! I’m sure you really enjoy your Road Trek…great camper vans and in high demand. I’m looking into options for securing the original bus doors, but I don’t want to replace them. I’m not really a fan of using a regular door, although I do understand why so many people do. I also love the original windows. My plan is to install a diesel heater in the fall and I do plan to spend some time in Arizona during the winter. I’m actually watching Chuck Cassidy’s video on installing a diesel heater right now…love him and Alyssa on Regretlyss. Thanks for all the tips! 🚐🐶❤️🇨🇦
Hello my friend. So impressed that you have found out what makes you happy and content, and then doing it. I'm with the kids though, "as long as you are safe and happy". You had me concerned sometimes on your across Canada trip. Enjoy the design process of your new Emma ll. You can change your mind as many times as you want!! xox
I just found your channel. Can’t wait to see what you do with your new home. Plus you helped me realize that I’m also a traveler who happens to be a homebody. ❤❤❤ My life makes sense to me now. 😄
Hi Zia, this is Dave from Ohio and I must say that it’s wonderful to see and tour your new home Emma II. It’s definitely an upgrade and can’t wait until you are completed. Charlie must enjoy it as well 🐶. Have you decided where you plan to store your harp? Emma II seems to be in great shape on the outside. Mentioning that you are 72yo, it got me thinking myself about my future. I’m 64yo will be 65yo in September and thoughts of what will happen to me. I’ll be on Medicare, currently working, and I want to travel. I plan to car/tent camp in June across country to Seattle. Zia, you are an inspiration to me and think you are amazing 👍. Your determination and drive has inspired me to get up and out to see the beautiful world we live in if it only in my suv. Thank you and bless you 🙏. Looking forward to your next video.
Hello again Dave! I can’t think of a greater compliment than knowing I may have inspired someone, so thank you very much! I wish you safe travels and happy adventures. I’m not sure yet how I will be able to incorporate my harp into my new home and safely store it, but my fingers are crossed! 🚐🐶❤️🇨🇦
Your video just popped up in my recommendations! I've had two RVs with the same water stained carpet on the ceiling. I just added half bleach and half water to a spray bottle and mist the stained spots. It will clear up quite nicely! ❤
Lovely unit. Looks good already but I know you will put your mark on it and it will be beautiful. Enjoy your new home. What did it cost you to buy the shuttle bus, we bought one for 2500 a few years ago but it was not renovated at all. We found to convert it was going to be too much for us 70 year olds and also are on a budget. We ended up selling it and are still looking for something to travel in.
Thank you Brigitte. One of the reasons I jumped fairly quickly on the bus band wagon, was due the rapidly rising prices, now that people realize their potential. Emma II (aka Shuttle 17) was $14,000 CAD and the fact that she had low mileage was a big factor for me. I hope you find your perfect vehicle soon. 🚐🐶❤️🇨🇦
Wow I like being in my home too, I'm not really an outside person, love traveling though. Charlie is gorgeous, I have one the same size, she's a chihuahua x maltese, great size for motorhomes, cheers from new Zealand, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do
Great little home that you’re transforming to be yours! I am a homebody also but love my modest house but love seeing how you’re doing with your lifestyle. Charlie is so sweet! Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦
Wow....what a beautiful new home...beautiful large windows and talk about all the space....I love it and can certainly understand your excitement. I am so glad for you, and thank you for sharing your adventure with all of us. Keep us updated on all your changes, love to see what you do. 😊
New sub here. I think you're a kind person and am looking forward to following you on your journey. I came across you on Bob's channel (which is also new to me). Blessings from Wisconsin! ♥ (come for a visit some time)!
Looks great , so exciting for you . Not sure if your mattress is on a breathable surface …. Supposedly that’s very important in small spaces to prevent mold . Just something to think about 🙂
Me too, I love the extra space! I took lessons years ago, but I will be pretty much starting from scratch. I had a hand injury that prevented me from playing for a long time. 🚐❤️🎶🎵
Excited for you having more space and probably a more reliable vehicle. The market for used vans/shuttles is wild right now... If you don't mind my asking, how much did this one run you?
Thank you! You are so right about the market right now, which is why I decided to jump in now. A year ago, I probably would have paid under $10K for it. It was $14K CAD. It only has 100,000km on it, which was another selling point for me. 🚐❤️
@@chasingthemoonrv Yes. I'd been saving & looking for over a yr and by the time I'd saved enough for where my goal had been, everything shot up even more! It made me rush a little bit when I finally found something in my range. Likewise, it was a good deal for the current market and low mileage was a factor. I hope you have many great voyages. I admire your sense of adventure and your excellent design sense.
I am like you. I am a home body, 9:38 but I love to travel. I too. Need a larger place to stay in. I think the shuttle bus is ideal. What kind of gas mileage do you expect to get. Will you do the conversion yourself? Do you plan to have black water tank or do without it. Linda
I think the bus will be ideal too Linda. The downside is it will probably only get 8 or 9 mpg. I will be redoing some of the conversion and have a couple of girlfriends who’ve offered to help. No I won’t have a black, or grey water tank. 🚐🇨🇦
@chasingthemoonrv thanks for getting back to me. The mileage sucks, but the room will be lovely. I wouldn't want a black tank either, just something else to deal with. I would love to be out there with you in my own shuttle bus. Have fun , enjoy and be safe. Londa
I’ve had my name on a waiting list for over 2 1/2 years for a seniors apartment, but it could be a few more years still, before my name comes up. Now that I have the bus, which has more room for Charlie roam around, I plan to make it my permanent home. 🚐🐶❤️🇨🇦
