They said Jackie Chan exists as an actor in this universe, and his version of Karate Kid is something the kids of Cobra Kai would watch on TV. Doesn't make any sense.
I predicted that the tournament mentioned in the last season would involve other martial arts (ie. kung fu), and they could use that as a tie in to the Jackie Chan movie. I'm certainly surprised that this is indeed happening, and looking forward to it. Hopefully with Jackie involved, he can actually teach Ralph Macchio some decent technique :)
Curious if the Cobra Kai showrunners will be involved with the movie. I presume it'll be set after the final season of the show. Will it continue on the storyline from there? Will the Cobra Kai characters be in the movie? Will be interesting to see what happens.
Ralph Macchio in the video looks like a HOSTAGE negotiating for his release. Jackie Chan is desperate for something like this since losing EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE.
This can be great or a tragedy. If they ignore Cobra Kai and just do some sort of remake it will be awfull. Since Ralph Machio is involved, i don't think they are going to go that route. If they conect this to Cobra Kai season 6 that will feature a global tournment, then this can really be great, but i think the writers aren't even the same... So in conclusion, this could be great or it could be awfull...
The karate kid remake is honestly pretty good, and Jackie Chan is actually amazing in it with a really powerful scene that shows his dramatic acting skills, but the biggest annoyance with the film is the title. The movie is called The Karate Kid, but in the movie they learn Kung Fu, and there’s even a line where they clarify what they’re learning isn’t Karate Either way, this is honestly pretty exciting, and makes me hope that we’ll potentially see Hilary Swank from The Next Karate Kid show up in a future project
This doesn't really make sense to me. I thought the Jackie Chan remake was not part of the "Miyagi-verse." So how would Daniel and Mr. Han meet if they don't exist in the same universe? And is Daniel going off on his own after all of the events that happened in Cobra Kai to find and train a new karate kid? That seems strange. Are they just going to ignore the Cobra Kai series and just make a sequel to the original trilogy and the remake? That would also be kind of weird. I was hoping there would be a Cobra Kai movie after the final season. It seems like this new Karate Kid movie is going to be something completely different to Cobra Kai. I guess we'll have to wait to get more details but I'm very skeptical about this at the moment.
They said the Myagiverse consisted of characters who met Myagi. It is possible they are still in the same world. He just never met the guy. Unless they rewrite to where they were old friends or something. It wouldn't be the first time they retconed Myagi. As I recall he once said he'd never taken a student before Daniel, then in Next Karate Kid he suddenly taught whatshername's dad.
