I love this “stream of consciousness” approach. You produce a fascinating series of layouts, always, and think this process should encourage that flow from imagination to form beautifully.

It looks like a layout that you could put on the top of your bureau.

Very nice project. I might try a micro layout in the future. But the size necessitates smaller locos and rolling stock. The UK railways seem to have more appropriate equipment for these layouts. What do you use on your micro layouts? And will the electrical side of UK equipment work on US layouts?

@@joew389 I model whatever takes my fancy. I have built micro layouts in nearly every scale. From 16mm narrow gauge (big models of small trains) to US outline in Z scale (small models of big trains). With regards to electrics, as long as you have the correct transformers/controller for the domestic voltage there are no many UK modellers run American trains, and I have no problems running UK trains here in the US. Currently my Busch H0f runs on a terry pack so it’s a moot point for that.

Thank you, that was very entertaining. I do not understand why U Tube builders purchase expensive shelves for baseboards, when a length of plywood or MDF would be cheaper. If cutting the board is a problem then you could use skirting board; Wickes Square Edge White MDF Skirting -(0.7"x4.6"x13'.7") 18 x 119 x 4200mm is £24.00. This would make three baseboards costing £8.00 each.

Imperial - vs - metric!!! I do use both, but when metric is used for baseboard sizes I get complete mental block!! Baseboards should be measured in 'Old Money' only, however awkward!! 😂😂 Old Money, for those outside the UK or younger than about 55, refers to British pre-decimal currency, which was replaced in 1971.😢
