I am from Egypt and I love you very much ♥️ Please I want a convincing answer to my question I own a Godox M2 i version microphone and I want to sell it and buy a Hollyland Lark M2 Should I do that please I want an answer I shoot with an iPhone 13 Pro Max with DJI Osmo SE
Another upvote for the Lark M2... these little things are incredible. And your shirt-switching trick for wind reduction is brilliant! Never would have occurred to me without watching your video.
I JUST bought the Lark M2 yesterday after watching the review you did on it about a month ago. The price difference between this Godox system and the Lark (plus the nifty touchscreen) *almost* had me reconsidering my purchase, but after hearing your samples, I prefer the sound of the Lark. It sounds just a bit "fuller" to me. PS: You've now influenced two of my purchases in the span of about five weeks. I hope you're pleased with yourself.
Same as You on me: After looking the review I really prefer the Hollyland Lark M2 over the outer mics. First, the Lark II Mike are almost invisible. Second is the sound that is clearly better. And when it comes to the noise reduction mode the Lark M2 clearly outperforms the outer two by a large margin.
The dji mic 2 also has noise reduction. When you turn on the dji mic 2, the indicator light will be green. when you press the power button once, the indicator light will be yellow which means the noise cancellation is on.
Man, I was in the middle of saving up for a new lens and then suddenly stumbled across this video and thought "Y'know what? I also need a decent mic .." ..so I ended up ordering a Lark M2 after watching this video. 🤪 LOL
as a person working with music and vocals gotta admit Lark M2 sounds best em all. Its going to be easier to manipulate it also in terms of post editing voice& great video btw!
I've used the first DJI mic to set up a wireless audio system and for redundancy. I'll plug my Tascan X8 into the sound board and connect the DJI mic through a aux cord to the audio out on the X8. The Tascan records the audio, which the DJI is also recording (internally). That same DJI sends an audio signal to my receiver, which is plugged into my camera. I do that set up all the time and have done it with my audio recorder on the other side of the room. No cords to worry about anyone tripping over them. That's the benefit of the DJI mics having a 3.5mm jack and internal recording.
@@juanimation_ I shoot lots of corporate events where I do ok the spot testimonials. Having to mic someone with a traditional lav is time consuming. And I never liked having the ride mic clipped on to ppl. So I just clip these on their shirt. They’re lightweight and very inconspicuous. I’ve used the necklace attachment a few times as well.
the Lark 2 is looking like a snack. I find the dji and rode options to be too bulky and swing around when clipped onto my shirt, the Lark 2 seems to stay in place really well, thanks for the comparison, hope this video does well!
Got my XT1's a couple weeks ago...after I had decided I was done buying this type of mic because maybe six different sets are enough for a solo content creator ;). I love the Godox. Love it. I did give up backup recording in order to make it my go-to kit (as long as sound isn't critical), but I just love them so much. They look good, sound good, are super versatile. I don't really feel the need to look at any more after these. Just my two pennies and a ball of lint. Thanks for the review, and what you do.
My personal opinion of the 3 sound tests - Magic XT1 sounds a little higher pitched, and slightly crackly? It feels like it doesn't capture the low end/base very well - DJI/Lark M2 sounded more similar. I liked the Lark M2 the best because it captured the low end of the voice really well and just sounds nicer to hear.
Hey bro ! I just watched two of your comparison reviews: You are the best out here. The review is accurate, infos are clearly on screen, and yet video is neat. Your reviews are really 101% accurate and 200% useful if i am really in a situation of buying. Never change this style ❤
Wow, great comparison ! The DJI comes last in terms of sound pleasingness (is that a word?🤣) Godox close second and Hollyland first. Didn't expect this at all. Godox close second because it sounds extremely similar, probably same manufacturer, different package. DJI (and Rode) are clearly overpriced.
The innovation in the clip on wireless systems has been amazing. Hard to decide what would be best they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Nice review.
I have the Hollyland Lark M1 mics and love them. Actually, I bought them because of your video and recommendation. It too has a 3.5mm jack. I think the whole getting smaller craze is not really necessary. I have larger fingers and hands and am sure I would lose those rare earth magnets in a heartbeat, nice that the Godox gives you spares, however. I thought all three mics sounded very good and also very similar. The Godox had slightly better noise reduction, but it also cut off some frequencies in order to get it. Any DJI product is a quality product, as this on is too, but once again, a little pricey in comparison to the other two. I would chose the Hollyland M2's in this comparison, and would purchase them if I didn't already have the M1's. The only thing I don't like about the M1's is the probability of hitting another button that may change from stereo to mono, or turn on or off the noise reduction inadvertently. I wish there was a lock feature.
Thanks for good and honest review. I am in search for wireless mic and this review really helps. I noticed that you, as many other reviewers, missed to explain stereo mode better. It seems stereo feature of wireless microphones is lightly explained by both manufacturers and reviews and there is almost always key question that is left unanswered. Does stereo means two mics are separated in two audio channels and can be used independently in post production, or it is just stereo audio with both microphones mixed in both channels?
For the price, the Godox is definitely worth it. I could only hear slight differences between the three brands. I think you could be happy with any of these three kits. I already own the DJI OP3, so I have the Mic 2. And the 32-bit float audio is a winner. If I didn't already own wireless audio from Rode, Comica, Hollyland (Lark 150) and DJI, I would definitely grab the Godox.
Hollyland > Godox > DJI Godox sounds more open, airy. Hollyland has better lows and is a nice balance of highs and lows. I'd probably go for Hollyland but Godox is a close second, I love that the transmitters fit in the receiver.
Mark you subscribed to my channel!!! Wow. I'm stoked, honored, pumped, in RU-vid heaven. Thanks so much. Your videos on the ZV-E1 made me decide to go out and buy it a few weeks ago. Yayyyyy😃😃😃
On the Lark M2s you can see on the receiver if the noise reduction button has been pressed on the transmitter. The light on the end of the receiver will either be blue or green depending on the noise reduction setting. And as great as the Lark M2s sound. They are incredibly unreliable. I bought a set in January and it has already crapped out. They gave me issues for months and now I cant get them to connect at all . Hollyland's customer service is absolutely atrocious too. So I bought a second set on Aug 9 and already one of the mics stopped working. I am sending them back. Just bought some DJI 2s. Fingers crossed they work.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks for the reply! Noob question, what does Zoom F3 add to the picture? Is it significantly better than a shotgun mic directly on camera?
Enjoyed your video! Thanks very much for this. I have the Hollyland, which I really like, but the string piece is always coming off the magnets - they should have them permanently attached. That's the only compliant so far.
Nice video. I have the DJI mic 2 and the Godox magic XT1. They have different applications for me. The DJI I use more for full size camera setups due to its 32 bit float. The Godox I use with my Insta360 X4 and GoPro cameras. With the extension on the XT1 connected to the top of my insta360 x4 cage, the receiver looks like a fixture on the ceiling when looking up in 360 video. The smaller form factor of the XT1 is perfect for my compact discreet setups.
Thanks for the amazing review and comparison To be honest, I'm shocked by how good the Godox Magic XT1 is, especially at such a great price. However, I still prefer the sound quality of the Hollyland Lark M2. It has more bass than others and offers all the necessary connectivity features in a compact design, all at a very reasonable price
Hi Mark . Great comparison. I have one additional comparison question... I believe godox is the only one of those 4 brands which allows volume control at the transmitter side... is this correct?
Brilliant Review Mark and timely too since I was considering purchasing the DJI dual lav for my DJI Pocket 3. The million dollar question ... if I went with the Godox dual system, would I need to add a bracket to support the receiver to the Pocket 3 ... AND .. would it need to be cabled. I believe the DJI dual is Bluetooth and syncs automatically. Looking forward to your answer and more great videos!
The 32 bit onboard recording is a big advantage on the DJI side. Are there any quality more affordable options with feature parity to the DJI. The Lark and Godox look great otherwise, but I am looking for something with that 32 bit onboard recording. Thx.
For the money the Godox looks like it would be great. The only thing I see is that on Amazon, they are sold by someone else and not Godox themselves. Do you know why they don't directly sell to the public? They have a website.
Recently watched this video - Godox is perfect for my needs shooting some equipment training videos. Been holding out on getting wireless due to cost. Wow - $79 delivered to my home!! For me - a winner!!!!
just a tip :> How to enable noise cancellation on DJI Mic 2? Press and hold for two seconds to power on or off. Press once to enable or disable noise reduction
You do get sales for the hollyland lark m2 now to bring it closer to the price of the xt1 and it is a lot more compact while on the camera which is nice - I don't mind putting the charge case away but lugging that battery bank receiver on top of the camera looks awkward.
Great review. I have had the DJI mic and happy with it. There are several good wireless mikes out there so many options. Watching from the Philippines.
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. Does the receiver allow for audio passthrough whilst charging via USB-C? If so, does it introduce digital noise when charging?
Lack of internal recording definitely limits this product. If it had that, I’d be a buy but I’ve gotten too used to having the backup tracks to give it up for a slight price reduction.
rode will SERIOUSLY have to step up their game after hollyland and other companies introduced such small wireless mics. Their wireless go/pro looks humongous in comaprison. Would love to buy the hollyland or godox misc but no internal recording is a real bummer for me. Great review tho, can't wait for more zv-e10 II vids hehe
The sound quality of the godox is better when the dynamic noise reduction is turned on . But without the noise reduction , there is no difference in the sound quality of both . For features , the godox has better features than the lark M2 . Another great video, Mark . Thanks for sharing .
There is a clear definable difference in sound between all three of these mic sets. There are frequency and distortion differences in all three, maybe relisten in quality headphones.
@georgewoolf6300 Probably sitting in your bed space with a cheap android phone and asking me to listen with quality headphones . If the airpods pro 2nd generation with the upgraded H2 chip, which can buy your cheap smart phone, can't give me a clear audio , I don't think anything else could. There is no difference in sound between the godox and the hollyland for me . If you are not a fool, you would have known that sound quality and clarity are dependent on the listeners .
@@MrFaccts Actually, I listened in my studio on my Neumann KH120's and my ATH M50 headphones... and I clearly heard distinct differences in all three on monitors and headphones. Maybe it's best not to judge others on the internet, lol.
@georgewoolf6300 Neuman KH120 is not a studio monitor headphone, and only a stupid person would plug in an audio monitoring headphones to a studio sound speaker. Normal people connect headphones to mics and audio recorders . This shows that you have no idea what you are talking about, and you probably don't know what Audio technica m50 looks like . The internet is a big space, I don't look down on anyone, but I always make sure that I reply to stupid people like you. And in case you don't know, the airpds pro 2nd generation with H2 chip produces cleaner audio than your so-called ATHM50 even though the airpods pro is not specifically built for studio audio monitoring. The ATH M50 cost 130 USD in my location, while the airpods pro 2nd gen costs 228 USD . You have no idea what a studio looks like .
I prefer the sound of the Lark M2. A little more low end makes a difference. And it makes the highly intelligent and attractive Mark Bennet even more manly. All of them worked fine.
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis oh I figured they didn't. I just meant when you do use eq's for wireless microphones, the process, etc, but thank you in advance! ☺️
Thanks, Great Review.... Q: Does the Godox transmitter have button (or voice command) that remotely starts and stops the recording device,... DJI Pocket 3?, Android,? iPhone?
Man, that Godox Mic has a great price tag and sounds pretty good, but the Hollyland M2 still sounds better than it and the DJI Mic 2! At least to me it does, better lows, mids, and highs!!
Moste people mention that the Lark M2 show up with the best audio quality over the both outer mics - And I agree. The M2 is the best in Audio quality, and for my opinion by a huge margin.
M2 has no 3.5 ouput no effective windmuff. Dji has all that and 32 bits, and you can buy elements separately also the interface oled is better. And i would have digital 24 bits sound to the Sony Camera. With the 3.5 cable fron the receiver, tou would have only 16 bits sound.
Definitely the Hollyland Lark but still think it's missing a lot of lower end compared to say a Sanken Cos11D or a Senheisser MKE2 gold. I don't trust any noise reduction during the recording so that's a no go for me. Just do it in post.
Has anyone noticed that the DJI and the Hollyland Lark have a robotic Sound in the part correct? That being from active noise canceling? I heard it stated that it is better to fix post instead of the automatic, active noise canceling. I am curious if you have noticed that?
Great comparison between mics and not cahhhmerras! Question, even though the Godox has a longer receiver battery, does DJI just win hands down if you are shooting on a newer Sony with that new hot shoe interface? I haven't heard if that things also powers the receive to extend its runtime or not?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I checked the specs and you are right, it only does audio pass through. Looks like this sweet little Godox XT1 is the battery champion!!!
I'm going to have to stop watching your channel I keep buying your recommends. Finally bit the bullet on a ZVE10 3 months ago (now Im thinking about getting the MKii as an A and my little Kev as B) bought the Tamron 17-70 f2.8 also because of your review (man this lens is unbelievable Mark I love it) Bought the Lark M2s for £119 on Amazon Prime day they sound incredible and will be so much more convenient for my new project this year where Im going to have former football players as guests sat with me in the stands at a game (Ive bought the season ticket next to me for the season to make this happen) I prefer the sound of the M2s which is a relief because I could have been disappointed I went for the M2s 2 days ago. Also bought the DJI RS3 mini yesterday was a bargain at £259 on Amazon 2nd Prime day again because of your recommendation. Keep up the great work Mark
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis yes you should you've been a great help even if ya costing me some money at the moment! I am confident it will all help take me to where I want to go, thanks again
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisThanks for the response ! do you know if it automatically pairs when I hit record or have to do it manually ? Need for motovlogging
I prefer the dji because of the good audio performance. 1. The other mics are kind of producing a little trebble sound that is disturbiing where as the dji's audio is neat and bass emproved. 2. The treble noise increases when noise reduction is activated on the two other mics too. 3. The dji is very versatile (bluetooth) for cams and phones 4. The dji's connections (wireless for sony cams) and (extra plug for usb-c phones) is a plus. 5. The 32-bit float feature makes up for dji's lack of noise reduction DJI is the best in my opinion based on these objective points.
Will this go on a GoPro media mod without the cold shoe adapter? Cause that would be really tall on a GoPro. Will the original transmitter go straight onto media mod?
I always thought I will need two systems. Now there is a third option at such a sweet price! Just gimme the Lark2 with internal recording and 3.5mm lavalier input. I want to stop thinking about it 😅
for me DJI Mic 2 just blows everything out of the water. Especially that DJI made a digital hot shoe attachment, it changes everything. And the amount of features that comes with it when using blutooth or wifi is freaking insane for smartphones. For sure its audio quality is not as great as Rode Go ii pro or Magic XT1, but the convenience is what i love about the dji mic 2.
I saw in another video the dji mic 2 has a noise cancelling feature on the mic, it's just not obvious. I think you press one of the buttons for 2 seconds
I never watch kai cenat but one day I got recommended a video on yt and I liked the audio on his mic so I was wondering what it was and thanks to this video I realized it’s the lark m2 lol
Listening on my iPhone with AirPods Pro I found it very difficult to tell the difference in audio quality. I have a Fulaim X5 which Iove. It has some extra bells and whistles which I don't use much. If it breaks I might replace it with a Gidox!!! But connecting the received to a phone is much more problematic.
Hollyland has my vote even over the DJI. It just sounds much more natural to me and I cannot stand the bulkiness of the DJI and the Rode. However, Godox is the ultimate budget option.
I also have the Rode wireless pro, and of course that’s got great sound but it’s nowhere near as portable as the other platforms. I find I use the DJI mic 2 constantly, it’s highly usable, portable, and has so many multi purposes. I’ve tried out many mics and so far I find that to be the best one I have not tried Godox
I recently got the Godox Magic XT1 and have been using it for a few days-it's been fantastic! I highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking for something new.
It drives me up a wall that says Dji doesn't sell the USB C connector should you sit on the connector itself. I had to buy a receiver and one mic to replace it call dji as well and they give promises but don't deliver (we'll invoice you) silence.
