It should be said that the Ocean Digital radio also has DAB which isn’t used here in the US. Over here we have HD Radio which is sideband broadcast hybrid with FM. Compression / sound quality is pretty bad.

I have the Ocean Digital WR-23 here in Belgium Europe. Not only internet and FM, but also DAB+. There are more DAB stations in my area that can be received interference-free than FM stations. DAB+ has been well expanded across the entire territory in Belgium and the Netherlands. I also have a DAB adapter in the car, which I connect via the aux input of the car radio. This way I also enjoy interference-free digital radio reception on the road. I hardly ever listen to FM anymore.

@@rvdb8876 i live in Germany and also enjoy DAB very much. I have 3 different device for this, a Teufel Radio 3 Sixty, a Nordmende Transita 121 it and a Sony drive s61 and enjoy listening to them very much each Day. Thecrystal clear sound is amazing and I onever use FM anymore. Radio is so relaxing to listen to and I appreciate it soo much.

There is definitely room for radio in today's lifestyle. Nothing can replace the spontaneity and imagination provoked by a live radio broadcast. During emergency situations, radio will always be there when other forms of communications are down. Thanks for the demonstration of the scrolling process for entering data into the Ocean Digital device.

You should review the Victrola Journey+ Signature model. I got one from Walmart. They had a big display of them. I like it a lot. It has the best sound in a suitcase player. Even has some bass. The box touts tuned case and suspension speakers. 59.88+tax.

After a leaking battery ruined my 30 year old Panasonic portable radio, I looked at the Retekess brand after watching your reviews. I bought the Retekess in this review last December. I only listen to an all news radio station with a strong signal while I cook. It works great. The sound is clear and fills the room with sound. In addition to the Retekess, I listen to radio in the garage and in the car. After watching you searching for a station on the internet radio, I think the interface is too clunky. I’ll keep using Tune-In on my phone.

I have this model. Well it does work good when it does find a good reliable signal. Depends on the server, not the radio. Just wish it had more than 3 presets

This past year or two, I've become a big fan of Retekess radios and I have bought several of them (largely due to review videos by Record-ology, todderbert for sure, and likely VWestlife too). I love their cool industrial design, the sheer variety of their designs from model to model and I've been pleasantly surprised by just how good their speakers sound when they punch above their weight. Retekess radios are very affordable too. :)

I am nearly positive that is NOT a timer but just the clock in 24 hour mode. Here in America we use the 12 hour time with AM and PM but that clock is defaulting in 24 mode at 12:00 AM. If you allow it go it will count up to 23:59 and then go back to 00:00.

I also have this Retekess radio and was going to mention this to you as well,@@Recordology, so I am glad you realized it was actually the clock in a 24 hour mode. I do like this radio and its design as well. Very cool and unique.

In 2020 I designed a new type of AM radio, that had AM stereo and advanced audio processing to give the best possible sound quality. But it ended up going nowhere, as I only could get 10 people interested and minimal production would of been 100 units, in such small runs it was impossible to do. Just to highlight you could have the best performing radio made, but if it costs more then $50.00, it is a non starter. If anyone is interested in finding out more, I have publish an article on linked in, called the new type of broadcast receiver.

I like the stand-alone radios. I don't want to use my computer/phone/tablet/Roku for everything. I'd like to get an internet radio soon.
@RJDA.Dakota
@RJDA.Dakota 2 года назад
I also don’t like using my phone as a radio unless it’s an emergency situation. I like a stand alone radio better and one with shortwave is perfect. That way in a true emergency I can get news from all around the world. An internet radio is still nice but a radio is better because the internet can go down or can be controlled. Always remember that.

On the second radio: That looks like a Time Display, not a Timer. It’s set to 24 Hr Display. 00:05 = 12:05 AM

Deep in rural and remote areas cell service is ether very poor quality or completely nonexistent, in those areas there’s going to be AM and FM stations available. In another instance during emergencies, radio stations will be on the air when Internet service both hard wired and cellular may not be operating. That’s why traditional radio will have a place in 2022 and beyond

Um there are amazing RADIOs that are incredibly relevant in 2022 they are just called SDRs: Software Defined Radios. They have a relatively simple hetrodyne frontend followed by an Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) the remainder of the processing is done digitally. As such, with the correct software you get nearly any type of radio you desire. Thus if you are actually into things that receive and decode electromagnetic waves this is a golden age.

A simple AM FM SW battery operated radio is good for the emergency go kit. Like if you found yourself in a disaster or even a war zone, e.g. Ukraine, an internet radio is no use without any internet. The BBC has resumed some Short Wave broadcasts for their World Service stations towards Eastern Europe, because of what's currently happening.

Here in new Zealand, we just had cyclone Gabriel on the coast. The problem with relying on the internet for radio is when you get hurricane winds strong enough to knockout the cell towers, cut power to thousands of homes. That means no internet, no cell, you're stuffed. For that risk alone you need radio fully indipendant from internet

The BBC W/S never left shortwave. It’s harder to find because the signal is not directed at North America like it used to be. Not only that but noise is a huge factor.

If you like foreign languages, internet radio is GREAT! If you want something that works when the internet goes down, a regular radio is needed. Shortwave, on shortwave receivers is NOT so easily censored...

Hello, your video is very well done. I am the designer of Choyong radio. I designed an internet radio that supports both 4G network and WiFi. It can receive radio stations all over the world. At the same time, this machine also supports traditional FM, MW and SW reception. I hope you can have a test and give some suggestions to make it more perfect. Can you help me?

I still use regular AM & FM but reception has declined from decades ago and interference has increased from various things so streaming is good to have. SW has become useless since I first heard it in the '60s.

I used a cheap $35 dept store shortwave radio in NYC north Manhattan late 1960s, was excellent reception. Lots of 'stuff' aimed at U.S. from Russia, China, Eastern Europe during those Vietnam years. Listened to open calls boaters calls too, via Marine Operator. Later in mid 70s had a nice SONY TFM 8000 in CHI at college. Shortwave (and OMG the loud strong 'Spanish number lady' freaked me out so much I called the FBI for my cassette recordings) and clear-channel am radio from half the US late night was amazing. After that was robbed from apt in Jersey City (1981?) started with SONY pushbutton digitals. And the shortwave was no more and AM was not good either. Still spent even more on anther SONY and a good Sangean . Of no use.
