As a Jew who was raised a Christian and has read extensively on Islam ( I once considered conversion)- I think this man is speaking honestly and his sentiments are echoed by the leaders of the other two major Abrahamic faiths. We cannot possibly or honestly merge- but we can acknowledge some values we hold in common and use those as a starting point for dialogue.

My difficulty would be what we are supposed to read EVERY Friday especially the first ten verses. It is impossible if they are diametrically opposed. I do see some very closeness between Judaism and Islam however. Chapter 17 verses 22-23 and chapter 17 verses 32-36 of the Quran seem very similar to me of what Judaism refers to as Noahide. And both have a similar Shahada.

As a practising Roman Catholic, I found this upload very encouraging and enlightening. I completely agree with Dr Shabir's sentiments in regards to finding common/the middle ground on matters of theology, particularly between the three Abrahamic religions, of which there is much we hold in common. I'll start by saying that, although my ultimate source of guidance and truth is the one true God of the Bible, and His Living Word, Jesus Christ, I do accept that Muhammad is a messenger of the God of Abraham and that the Holy Qur'an is God's word too (in fact, I read a page of the Qur'an every morning, after doing the same with the Bible, before going to work). I would further add that every Muslim I have ever known and called a friend, has been/is respectful, Godfearing and generous, both materialistically and spiritually and that these same Muslims often display Christian virtues (some of which I have mentioned), superior to that of many of my Christian friends. It is also great to hear that Muslims are allowed to worship God in Christian churches in Canada, and hopefully, there will come a day when the opposite is true. This will make for a much more peaceful and stable world, even if we can only agree to disagree on (some) matters of theology. Very inspiring upload and very well done to all concerned for creating and uploading it - thanks.

At the end of the day we(three major religions) agree on enough to the point that we can all agree that peace and love needs to come first but to try and merge the three as they stand would be a mess . A committee to encourage peace and understanding amongst us is good but a new major religion would be its own new thing and could be seen as the platform the antichrist will use to rise to power.

People who subscribe to traditional Judaism consider Moses to be the most important prophet. People who consider themselves catholic or orthodox or protestant consider Jesus to be the most important prophet. People who subscribe to Islam consider Muhammad to be the most important prophet. No matter how many other doctrines those groups have in common (and there are many commonalities), the members of those different groupings - although all of them consider their their religious beliefs and practices to be “Abrahamic” - will never agree about which is the most important prophet except under real or implied coercion. Some decades ago, in conversation with one of my wife’s brothers-in-law, he used the word, “Israel”, in a way that seemed to indicate that he understood its meaning differently than I do. I think the faith of Abraham grew over time - and that anyone who has the faith of Abraham today is in a process of developing faith. Who am I to say that someone whose beliefs and practices are different from mine is any less faithful than I am?

The Qur'an is the final revelation for humanity wherein there is NO COMPROMISE with Tawheed (Oneness of God) There is no going back on this basic element of Islam. The Christian churches will never move from their 3god concept. The closest religion to Islam, Judaism, will not step down and accept Jesus (Eisa A.S.) as a prophet, having rejected him for over 2000 years. This cocktail is bound to fail.

I think the core beliefs are there. However,, most practices diverge from one another in a way that couldn't simply be ignored. what I do believe could happen, yet still, is for all three parts to sort of stand for one another as a way to stop the disruption of genuine moral values and other type of debauchery that many moral subjectivists and atheists/pseudo-intellectuals who think they know philosophy may throw your way. it would really be an advance into the rotten core that is western culture and society, plus it's incessant need for extremisms like communism or constant wealth searching (ancap and other forms of corporatism/greed) coming from someone who studies hermeticism Ik it can't be taken respectfully by many, but it would be really nice to see some love between three religions that sort of had the same origin so to speak

Unification is more of politics and less about theology. It is impossible to be united as long as you have completely different beliefs on God’s nature (strictly monotheistic in Islam vs dogma of trinity in Christianity), fundamentally different religious practices, and differences in recognition of God’s prophets (Muslims believe all prophets, Christianity do not believe Mohamed (pbuh) and Jews do not believe Jesus Christ and Mohamed (pbuh both). It is impossible to unify these religions but dialog and peaceful coexistence is possible.

One religion is like saying: once the world is made up of one continent , then after millions of years separated to smaller ones, and now we have countries of modern times and like saying we don't have to identify ourselves as individual countries because we came from one continent millions of years ago

I am a Muslim, I hold the Qur'an as the last revelation send to mankind, but I also follow the philosophical school of thought called "Perennialism". It's not a syncretistic ideology by no means, in fact the scholars of this school are highly critical of syncretistic religions such as the Bahai, the New Age movement etc. What this school says is that each major religion, in a metaphysical way is a stream that flows from the same source. It's much like the Islamic perspective where you do believe that Judaism, Christianity and possibly even Zoroastrianism or Buddhism are the continuation of the teachings or revelations of previous prophets, while also acknowledging and respecting the differences that have emerged as a result of the differences within the human nature. Perennialism says that religions are different just as languages and cultures are different, but deep down, they all convey the same basic metaphysical truths. For example, let's take Islam and Buddhism. Buddhists don't believe in God, at least not in the way Muslims and other Abrahamic faiths do. So what is the commonality between these two religions. By observing the metaphysics of each religion we see that both of them have Compassion in their center, that the supreme goal according to each of them is to make a distinction between the Absolute and the Relative. In Islamic language it would be to distinguish the attribute of al-Haqq (The Real) and this Dunya (the illusory world). In Buddhist language it would mean to distinguish Nirvana (Liberation) and Samsara (the cycle of birth, death and rebirth, the illusory cause of suffering). As for the existence of God, that of course is central in Islam, whilst in Buddhism it is neither affirmed nor denied, it's simply something Buddhists don't preoccupy their mind with. But what we can observe from the Buddhist teaching is that there is this Higher Concept, or Higher state of being, and we might say something like; Islam teaches about the person of God, while Buddhism teaches about God as a state of being, or God as an experience. This of course doesn't mean that both religions should be considered equal in the eyes of the believers. Each person must strive to find the truth wherever his sincere intention sends him, and that means choosing carefully one of the religious traditions, and once accepting one, adhering to it without trying to bring in new elements from other religions.

I used to be an atheist (maybe still am) . But i have no problem in accepting the 'Abrahamic ' concept. If there's a god, it is beyond human brain. So, we can't 'see,hear, detect' it. That's the reason it can't be 'captured' in any idol, human, tree etc.. because these are things that can be perceived by human brain .... anything that is a creaTION is not the creaTOR ..... all idols, trees, humans etc are made of atoms/energy etc.... we all are a part of spacetime continuum. Abrahamic god is something beyond the bigbang , not a 'part' of our detectable universe.... now keep in mind, Abraham presented this idea at a time when humans used to 'worship' clouds,sun,river etc, as if the river had a 'brain' of it's own and would listen to people's prayers to provide them food(fish). So...... I kinda feel i can accept this idea of Abrahamia....
