Kennedy is as you say one of the greatest producers of all time, but yea.. get her out. I like her and have great respect for her (I've loved all the Disney star wars movies) but it's not a job for her.

Whenever Campea calls KK "One of the greatest producers in Hollywood history.", I always wait for him to elaborate and tell a story about certain situations that happened during productions of Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, The Goonies, Jurassic Park, etc, where KK came to the rescue with a brilliant solution thereby her "the bestest wahmen producer evah." And yet, it never comes. Making me think her greatest achievement is getting coffee for Spielberg and Lucas.

Kathleen Kennedy decides to direct a star wars film....... Drops out due to creative differences......like she's having some kind of internal struggle.

I have to see it to believe it, because Lucasfilm has had too much drama with announcing projects which end up either cancelled or delayed. It’s not just Lucasfilm, a lot of studios now announce projects well beforehand that end up cancelled or delayed because of changing visions, creative talent coming and going, etc., like Uncharted, Doc Savage, New Mutants, Avatar sequels, etc. For me, studios should wait until everything is handled from hiring cast and crew, agreeing on a vision, script, etc., and finally start shooting, then announce the projects. Then, we wouldn’t have problems afterwards.

At least we got Rogue One and The Mandalorian, The Force Awakens could have been redeemed by a better sequel but...this is where we are

The rant I have waited for. lol This disconnect happened to me before the Last Jedi even happened. I watch whatever content they put out, usually in hopes that I'll like something (thank you Mando), but I've gone from whacked out fanatic to the colder side of casual fan, and it happened years ago for me. I haven't felt like they know what they're doing since the barage of behind the scenes turmoil began. In fact, my first clues were before TFA even came out. I was just hoping that was a ramping up to something better. Still holding out hope they can win me back.

The only thing that could potentially excite me is a Luke Skywalker story set between Jedi and Force Awakens, re-cast with Sebastian Stan.

Personally, I think the Star Wars movies have gone downhill since Rogue One. The Last Jedi, Solo, and The Rise of Skywalker were all underwhelming.

I think Star Wars needs to take a break for a while, at least on the big screen. Give it another five years at least ; and this is from someone who liked the new Star Wars movies, but I thought they got weaker with each instalment.

I think once Star Wars stops trying to retell stories it'll be all good. It suffers from a constant retelling of characters we already know. If the story is actually new I think it'll be ok.

After how poorly planned the sequel trilogy has ended up, does the next upcoming Star Wars movie has any chance of reaching that 2022 release date? I'll be surprised if that 2022 release date still happens or if it doesn't get delayed again. After hearing how much of a high director turnover at Lucasfilm in the last few years since the Disney era began, it's really hard to get excited for Star Wars these days because at this point, the MCU completely stole all its thunder and its well deserved because as they say, if you're not at the top, something better will come and replace them and we just witnessed it in 2019 when Avengers: Endgame completely overshadowed Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker completely in every way.

Say what you want about The Rise Of Skywalker, that movie was their big finale and even as someone that liked the movie I'm not excited for any more SW movies. It felt like their last straw. KK always delay, cancel projects , changing visions and at this point it's too soon. Have a clear plan and vision first. Don't go in right after the mixed ROS. It's not the right time. Take a break. Reevaluate KK because she has been stumbling.

I still go back to the Force Awakens and think: if Star Wars had just let JJ Abrams make THAT movie, forget the whole trilogy concept. If the force awakens had just been a single shot movie - would have been thrilled and same ending: no word from Luke. We’d have lost our minds. And then you let Rian Johnson do whatever movie, whatever era he wants to - and if he wants to touch aspects of force awakens or rogue one or hint at solo - fine. What made Star Wars successful was simple tale, cool worlds, cool characters - just tell a good story. Make a good story.

I didn't even go see the one last year. Because TLJ was such a f'ed up mess, I had no desire to see the final one.

They're clearly two seperate SW around for years, Good Star Wars and Dark Star Wars. Clone Wars, Rogue One, Rebels, Solo and The Mandalorian is one side and all the other bulls*t on the other. They're not perfect but still Light side give me hope. Now "even if" Darth Kennedy tells us "join me, we have cookies, we have darth revan, we have obi-wan etc." I'm not gonna trust her for a second because they're gonna suck at her direction. I know it's not making sense but that's how I feel. If Feige, Filoni or Favreau make a announcement I listen, otherwise nope, not interested in SW anymore.

Whoa. Nice to see a big RU-vidr like John Campea have the guts to call out Kennedy. (He may have done this before, but I don't watch his videos all the time.) It seems to me like a lot of popular Tubers and journalists are afraid to criticize her and Disney Star Wars.

It really sucks when this happens with things you like. I think I felt this with the X-Men, now I have hopes for New Mutants, if I hear it is generaly good and diffrent, manage to be a super hero horror story. Then I might go out and see it. I think I felt like this for The Amazing Spiderman after 2 becuse Sony was just throwing everything in to see what sticks without thinking about story. Maybe it is the same with Star Wars, maybe they want it to be open at the same time still be the same by introducing new characters but still keep them similar to the old people. Maybe have an era where you decide, Star Wars is this now. This is the vision for this movies.

Sorry John, but, KK doesn't know how to handle "Star Wars". This is what happens when you don't listen to the original creator on many, many levels. Episodes 7-9 IMO are absolutely awful trash.

I totally agree. I never thought I'd be sick of Star Wars - but I am. I enjoyed everything up to Rise Of Skywalker. It was such a disappointed & so disjointed. The prequels may not have been the best - but they had a solid back story to tell. But, Rise of Skywalker just ruined my excitement for anything Star Wars. I think they really need to back off & let the want for Star Wars movies to be there. Then - start fresh & hopefully expand the universe & come up with something new.

Iger and or Horn, whoever can do it, needs to kick Kennedy out of that studio and put Feige, Favreau, Filoni, JJ, or someone else who actually lets creators do their projects without intervention Trevorrow, Lord and Miller, Gareth Edwards, Josh Trank, Benioff and Weiss have all had issues with Kennedy. No offence there bud but why do you have Rob on this show? You do most of his talking for him. I mean sure, you present the news and then you both share your views. But you usualy ramble on and talk as him with yourself until you give him a 2 min spot to say ''Hey, this is what i think'' and then you move on to the next topic. I mean you might as well recast Rob with yourself. And the Cohost wich i usually forget that you even have when you have one. They often end up just awkwardly sitting there while you and your version of Rob scream at each other and then real Rob gets a tiny window to share his view. I'm honestly much more interested to hear Rob's take on things as he seems (again no offence) to be the more intelectual when it comes to movies and such. I'd love it if Rob had his own show where he would actually talk to people. You monologue for way to long while the rest just quietly sit there waiting for you to stop acting out several roles in a conversation. Ey, just a tought dude.

Star Wars feels like it's really lost its mojo. It feels like both of the generation s that like the original and prequels respectively have been overall fatigued. Disney brought out too many films without a real game plan. They just need to take break from it, prioritize their Disney + with some Star Wars content to make fans and people that dont watch them believers in the product again, and then think about films again.

Episode 9 ruined my SW with the treatment of Luke and Anakins Legacy and made the force a superpower that baby yoda and Rey can use without any training and are more powerful than many Jedi masters. The SW universe is forever broken like the fans hearts and ruined like the way Disney and Lucasfilm spat on the memry of the original trilogy so why should I care or share my money with them until they remake episode 7-9 or declare the current ones not canon?

I have a hard time buying the narrative that Kathleen Kennedy is some amazing producer. I do not hate the woman by any means and I'm not saying she's entirely talentless but I don't know how you can be "one of the greatest producers in hollywood history" while dropping the ball on producing Star Wars this badly. She's shown herself to be pretty incompetent at running these productions. She has produced some great films throughout her career but I feel those success stories had more to do with the fact that she was working with the greatest filmmaker of all time in his prime. I'm not trying to completely take away from her achievements but her handling of Star Wars has been simply atrocious.

You sound like I was 2 years ago with DC Comics movies. I collected superhero comics for 30 years, both DC Comics and Marvel--although I lean toward DC Universe. But as of 2 years ago, I was like, I didn't care about DC movie news. I was all, show me a trailer. Yes, Wonder Woman was great and I loved Man of Steel but I know many didn't. BvS, Suicide Squad and Justice League were mixed bags. All the delays about The Batman, MoS 2, The Flash starting with Flashpoint (a universe resetting story before even setting the story??!!!), Cyborg, I not only stopped caring but I was actively negative towards news announcements. Show me a trailer. Then came the long-delayed Aquaman trailer. And there was a feeling of hope towards the most underrated superhero. Then the extended cut and final trailer and the movie was the first billion dollar DCEU movie and Shazam did well. And I looked forward to DC movie news again--after DC and WB proved they could put together several good movies. Joker, while not my tastes, billion dollar movie that's critically acclaimed. Hope was fired up where even Birds of Prey's disappointment couldn't quench. It's okay if you're disappointed. Star Wars is too big for Disney not to keep trying until they get it right. Rogue One has in hindsight has become my favorite overall movie even if TFA had my favorite moment of the lightsaber flying PAST Kylo into Rey's hand. That was a hero moment not surpassed a lot. TFA had the benefit of The Prequels lowering the bar and it more to surpassed it. I wished JJ hadn't been so obsessed with the mystery box and TPTB was so disconnected from TLJ story they didn't appreciated how it conflicted with the greater narrative. But ultimately, it's way too much money on the table for Disney to say, forget it and try something else. Also, hope springs from the mouths of babes--especially Baby Yoda!!!

She (KK) is NOT the best. She has ridden the coat tails of amazing creatives. Don't believe me? Look at her IMDB. All of "her hits" were with superlative creative talent at the helm - Spielberg, Zemekis, Lucas, Howard, Marshall. Projects where she was the main big name are nothing. Do you think she would tell any of those big name producers/directors what to do? No way. THEY had the final say, not her. So of course those films were hits. Because SHE did not have creative control. A producer is a logistical specialist. NOT necessarily a creative. She is NOT a creative as evidenced by her abominable handling of Star Wars.

I'm excited for the Disney+ shows: Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Boba Fett, Mandalorian etc but I am just over the movies. I don't think I've actually really liked any of them since Rogue One. Hell they could announce a Luke Skywalker movie tomorrow and I'd still feel like they'd find a way to fuck it up. The TV division just seems more organised and has better quality stories to me.

The only really good things that came out of Star Wars since the original movies were: 1) Lucas Arts' video games from the 90's/00's; 2) Thimothy Zahn's Thrawn book trilogy (the best SW story ever written outside of the OG movie trilogy); and 3) the animated series from Dave Filoni. The rest can be pretty much written off... (Rogue One and The Mandalorian were actually pretty decent, but not nearly as unforgettable and timeless)

I really wish you'd stop saying "which is fine" every time you say "I didn't like The Rise of Skywalker"; it really is fine and nobody's attacking you about it, dude. I'm so with you on this, though; I love Star Wars but I'm not excited for 'news' of Star Wars because so much of it has fallen to absolutely pieces before it gets to us. Out of five films, only two of them went through unmolested by this: The Force Awakens, which is unsurprising because it was such a blatant rip-off of A New Hope there wasn't much interfering that needed to be done, and The Last Jedi where Rian Johnson had no interference whatsoever in his vision. Rogue One got new directors/writers halfway through, Solo had three (right?), Rise of Skywalker was a Frankenstein-ian mess from start to finish that's made even worse now that Trevarrow's original 'Duel of the Fates' script has leaked and was so, so much better. Me personally, I despised The Last Jedi, but I also hated The Force Awakens so it wasn't that big of a departure for me. Watching the backstage mess behind these movies has honestly been more entertaining for me than the movies themselves, which considering they're all Star Wars movies is really sad.

Star Wars & DCEU is suffering from the same issues in my opinion. They both have good material that already exists in their catalog but refuse to adapt it properly. It doesn't have to be 100% but c'mon. Variant said it best. There needs to be a plan. I mean this is a bias opinion but The Old Republic is right there. It's free of the Skywalker name & has the two things that I personally love about Star Wars in it. The "war" & "lightsaber duels." Why y'all pass on that & go with this high republic nonsense for? Bang on. How about Lucasfilm just hire a chief creative, map out a story path and then farm out the stories to the appropriate talent and then, and only then, let everyone know what's coming. Nobody who liked The original Star wars cares anymore. After the last 3 movies that had "no source material to pull from" And was basically a copy and paste of A new hope, even though the last jedi was total crap, original story. The rip off of Dark Empire for The rise of Skywalker, I mean who the fuck cares anymore? Nothing original, just rip off bits from here and there.... put in some new stuff.. Boom new shitty Star Wars. Junk just terrible.

I liked Rogue One, found The Force Awakens to be mediocre and haven't seen The Mandalorian yet though I hear good things. The Last Jedi is an objectively bad film in every way except production and special effects. It was so bad and left such a bad taste in my mouth that I still haven't seen The Rise of Skywalker. I think there are some brilliant moments in the prequels but overall meh. The Original Trilogy is absolutely Golden imo. As it stands right now I am utterly apathetic towards Star Wars but I can still feel a vague hope when I hear rumors about the new trilogy... Is this just a shadow? Is it mere faith? Hope against hope? I'll admit I am intrigued when I hear the name Keanu Reeves thrown around and the action unfolding in as yet unexplored regions of the galaxy... Hmmmm.... Time will tell

I feel excited about High Republic project, just because KK or Disney won't care about those novels / comics, and authors will be able to tell the story as they have envisioned, also it feels truly new and exciting, the way George Lucas did. Meanwhile, whatever movie or TV show is coming, Disney or Lucasfilm or whoever is deciding these things, will be keeping it on the Empire era with some old character, and keep announcing projects that are not either fresh or exciting. Seriously, I don't feel any excited about Andor or Kenobi series. I loved Ewan as Kenobi, but his story has been told. I'm tired of that era, I'm tired of going back to the same, over and over and over again.

The key of Star Wars... Make movies with characters or vehicles I will want to buy toys on Christmas first... I know I sound reductionist BUT there's a kind of truth maybe? And make Great New Villains!
