Hi Tree & Neil. Keeping an eye out for ya. I thought I had seen all YT but just now saw when you first drive your scooter. You are the 2nd person with a new scooter I have watched now. I cried to see you fly & breeze along. Proud of you!

Hi Shirley, thank you so much for you kind message! So pleased you liked the video, I've not used the scooter in a while but if my mobility gets much worse I can see myself charging it back up again. I hope all is well with yourself.

Thanks for sharing this. I’m 44, just diagnosed and now using a scooter. I’m happy to know it’s common to feel a kind of way being in front of folks for the first time. It’s so freeing to get out the house i don’t care who sees now lol

Hey Chanda, I just briefly checked out a couple of videos on your channel (and subbed) to see who you were. It’s lovely to meet you!! I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but that scooter sounds awesome! Perhaps posting a video of you using it would be an idea 😉 I’m so happy for you that you now have brilliant new mode of transport and it’s allowing you some better quality of life. Brilliant.

Been looking out for an update from you Neil. Your life has changed for the better with that machine. I love whizzing about in mine and don't mind what people think, mostly people are accepting and are more interested in the machine than me. I found a scooter Afikim which has a canopy so I can use it in colder and inclement weather. It has it's limits still but it is wonderful in the spring and autumn if I am rugged up. It is important to know how to approach rises, front on as we are not well balanced on any scooter but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. Now you can go for 'walks' round the neighbourhood again! Wonderful! Love to you both

Hi Willow, I noticed you’d struggled to post this comment. For some reason you ended up in my possible spam folder, no idea why. Anyway I soon found your comment and published it. 😀 I did a quick google of your scooter and it looks perfect for you. And yes, I’m getting the hang of the slopes, after soon realising I need to slow down before tackling them. 💞

Oh, so pleased for you. It’s quite nervy at first. I almost took a wall out hahaha. A difficult part for me is cars parked on the pavement, I don’t really like going out onto a busy road. I have to giggle when I read on my steering column a sticker telling me not to use my phone whilst driving .... So heads up in case your pulled over by blue flashing lights 🚔 lol .... Enjoy your new lease of life. Maybe get a sidecar for Teresa 🤩🤩🤩

Good job Neil.......great to have mobility and freedom.....but remember the need to get up on feet and do some walking is a necessity so you will not become wheelchair or mobility bound. Your body needs that physical stimulation. But good to see a smile on your face and enjoying your day. God Bless and still throwing many prayers your way. Hi Theresa, your a great support and love you both.

Hi Bodhi, and thanks. Oh yes I’m well aware of the importance of keep moving and keeping the muscles going best I can. Thank you so much Elaine, for you lovely and kind message. I feel honoured that you're going to choose the same scooter. With the help of my wife, we managed to put the scooter together ourselves, and I was able to hook up the batteries (being a techy). However, when I purchased the scooter there was a service you can purchase, I think it was about £80. For this somebody would assemble it all for you, hook up the batteries, show you how to use it.. the works basically. This might be something you would consider. I really hope you get on with it very well, I can't quite remember where I purchase mine from now.. hold that thought I'm going to try and find the paperwork and see for you. (Neil rummages through paper work, and fails) However, I do keep every email and because I ordered it online I've found the information. I purchased it from LiveWell. I realise you'll more than likely shop around for the best price, but I'll include the link below where I got mine from for you. Good luck. www.livewelltoday.co.uk/search?term=viper

One more thing, when you purchase it make sure you apply for the VAT Relief (if you're in the UK) because it's quite significant.

Yes indeed! I have to admit, I've not used it for a while, but it's always there just in case things get really bad again. The only problem is, it literally feels like I've got two pieces of solid concrete in my back, this is spasticity in my muscles. This is what gives me so much pain all of the time and really hinders my walking (as well as the weak muscles in my legs/hips/knees/ankles). When on the scooter, even with the excellent seat, I feel every bump, and I mean EVERY bump so this still makes it quite difficult. But I'm glad I've got it because it means I've got some sort of transport and mobility in case of an emergency etc.
@michelleslifeonrepeat

Neil Bradley MS have they tried counterstrain pt with you yet? I made a video on it. But research. It is not like pushers you do exercises. You lay on the table and in a quite room and the therapist pressures a light touch on the knotted muscle spot, than finds the correlating end to that muscle and gently lift to turn that end to release the tight pull. Like a rubber band fully stretched she makes the end both relax and give.
@NeilBradleyMS
@NeilBradleyMS 4 года назад
Thanks for this Michelle, I’ve just hopped over to your channel and found the video (left you a small comment). I’ve not heard of this type of PT before but it sounds very good, I’m going to keep it in mind. Thank you. I hope you are well, have a lovely day. 😊

Let's be real, sucks you have to rely on a contraption such as this but, it's great you can be mobile on your own. Been wondering what's up with the potentially new diagnosis. Looking forward to (at some point in time) hearing what the doctors have learned about your condition. It's awesome hearing from you brother. Hi Neil, my trolley arrived two weeks ago in a box weighing 112 Lbs, in 6 pieces and had to assemble it myself, the box was over 5ft long, it is a class 2 Drive Venture, living on a busy main road I was also nervous, assembly was straightforward but only having use in my right arm made it somewhat difficult but got there in the end, glad to see you are enjoying your new found freedom, I’m certainly enjoying mine, thanks for sharing Best wishes, Mike West Bromwich

@NeilBradleyMS 2 года назад
Hi Michael, thanks for your message and for watching my video. I've had this scooter a little while now, and there was a period of time I didn't use it. Unfortunately, over those few months I didn't charge it, and the batteries dropped below the working threshold and now will not charge properly. I wanted to mention this to you also, in case you have the same problem. Because of this I'm unable to use it until I replace the batteries. I've just Googled your Scooter, is this one known as a 'Boot Scooter' .. I actually had a boot scooter some time ago but for one reason or another I got rid of it. But I'm currently at the point where my mobility is getting so bad, I'm having great difficulty walking from the car to my appointment. So I'm giving some serious thought, once again to purchasing another Boot scooter. I'd be VERY interested to know how you're getting on with it? Oh, and good on you for managing to assemble it ok, especially with only having use of your right arm. Nice one. If you don't mind my also asking, and I wouldn't be offended if you don't wish to answer, but I'm curious as to what illness and condition your having to deal with. Thank you so much for your comment, and I REALLY hope you're enjoying some new found freedom with your Scooter. As you are no doubt aware, it really is nerve racking going out for the first time, but you will become used to it. Good on ya!! Take care, and all the best - Neil.

Hello Gary, thank you for you message .. the notification just popped up whilst I was using my PC so thought I'd reply straight away. Thank you for telling me about yourself, and I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with PPMS. I'm pleased to hear you are on a good drug which will help keep the attacks at bay. The disease modifying drugs all work in similar way by suppressing the immune system. Not sure how up-to-date you are with my videos, but I've recently been re-diagnosed after having an MS diagnosis since 2013 (until this year). They now think I've got "Neuromyelitis Optica" (NMO). Recently though I'm responding very well with steroids (I usually do) and a new immunosuppressant drug called Azathioprine. Glad you like the scooter, I've not actually used it much since I had it, because if I can I always prefer to try and walk. How are things with you Gary, what is your mobility like at the moment?

In purple, lol. I really do. That is amazing, and I am really happy for you. It has head lights and back lights. Your legs do look squished up a bit, does the seat adjust any? Like in a car? Also, I get a mobility magazine with wheelchairs and scooters in it, they make a lumbar cushion, for both, or perhaps you could just use a small pillow, like one for the couch. I also love that vintage picture on the wall, in your kitchen, of the lady, between the cupboards. Amazing new gift there Neil, enjoy it.

Hi Andrea, and thank you. Nice to hear from you by the way. The seat on the scooter does adjust back and forth like in a car but I’ve already got it all the way back. It’s my fault for being tall and having long legs lol. Still getting used to it, my back still hurts a lot whilst in motion, not the fault of the scooter though as it’s got a max comfort seat. My back just hurts all the time, as I feel the ms has effect the muscle there, they are definitely weaker. I hope all is well with you.

Hi Fiona, and thank you for your kind words .. since having some treatment in Nov last year, I've been a little bit more mobile and haven't used my scooter. However, now several months later I'm declining again (the normal trend) so I may have to charge it up! The seat was a very important factor for me when purchasing it, for me I need the seat to be very versatile because of my terribly stiff muscles in my back. I'm pleased to hear your backrest gives you proper support allowing you to feel more in control, this is very important isn't it. Best to you - Neil.

Hi Fiona, I hope the move to your Cottage goes well for you .. the raised flower and veg beds sound just perfect! Yes, I also registered my scooter with the DVLA as like your it can do 8mph. I've also got it insured as it certainly wasn't cheap! The insurance was only about £40 or something like that, very reasonable. I do find some of the curbs challenging, even though it's got plenty of power to get up them.. I've found you have to be very careful as it can get quite bumpy. Take Care.

@@NeilBradleyMS think I'm more in control of the controls on the scooter if sat bolt upright, thought it would support your back more, hopefully make you less stiff and less sore on back muscles. Hey Lucy, happy birthday in May, (I'm May 5th) enjoy being free when your scooter comes. Daunting at Ist, but you'll get used to it quickly, and enjoy it. Suddenly you'll be aware of curbs, you will remember where the easiest curbs to negotiate are, and where the steeper ones are. I'm still twitchy about going round shops, as folk can't see you when you are about to drive round the end of an aisle. I wondered if I should get a flag on a long pole!! All the best.

Congrats on the flashy new scooter! I am impressed my the nice sized apples Theresa picked. Apple pie and apple jelly in the future? And did I read that right--that it might not be MS, but Myelitis Optica instead? I may have missed one of your videos on this, or my brain is misfiring again, which wouldn't surprise me. You and Mrs Bradley look great! (Don't you hate that, when people can't see the invisibility of MS and other hidden conditions?) But you both really do. Take care and best of luck navigating this disease. Internet hugs to you both!! 😆

Hi Jennifer, yes we’ve had plenty of Apple pies not to mention given tons of apples away to friends and family. You did hear right.. they no longer think it’s MS, instead something more sinister called NMO or Neuromyelitis optica (Spectrum disorder). The diagnosis has not been confirmed yet, still waiting for our slow health care system. Take care.

Dear Mellie, I'm more than happy to tell you about the scooter. Yes the batteries are heavy, but usually when you purchase this type of scooter there is an installation service to get it up and running for you, at a small cost unfortunately .. but this would probably be a good thing. Somebody would come and set it up. I did a lot of research into this scooter because I needed one with a very supportive seat as my back is so incredibly stiff and painful. The seat is brilliant I have to say, it moves in every conceivable direction I need. I haven't actually used the scooter for quite some time now, and something I didn't know was that I should have kept the batteries charged up! Even if I wasn't using it.. but I didn't :( So, unfortunately the batteries have now discharged to the point of no return, so I'm unable to now use the scooter until I buy new batteries. So that is something to be aware of. Keep it charged! (even if not using). Please don't worry about the weight of the batteries, once they are installed you don't have to touch or lift them. The scooter is awesome, it reaches speeds of up to 8mpg but it goes much slower as well so nothing to worry about there. It's got suspension, so it softer over the bumps but you do still feel them. I can't really think of anything bad to say about it, apart from I didn't know about the batteries discharging but that can easily be addresses by putting the scooter on charge at least once a week or more if needed. It's excellent!! I hope that little bit of info helps, please just ask if you need to know anything else about it. I hope this message finds you as well as can be. All the best - Neil.

Hi Mellie, lovely to hear from you. The scooter has two heavy batteries so once they’re installed it’s not really an option to remove them. Plus the scooter has a charging port, near the handles. I understand your drive has no power (as you explained) but I wonder if it would be possible to have a power extension lead made or purchased which plugs in and trails out to where you store your scooter. Just a thought. It’s interesting to learn a little about yourself and treatments your on. Oh, and I know all about the incontinence issues, although I’ve still got this area relatively under control still. For how long I don’t know though. Hope all is well with you, take care.

@NeilBradleyMS
@NeilBradleyMS 3 года назад
@@grahambarrett5569 Hi Graham, that's absolutely brilliant to hear. The scooter will give you much more freedom and independence for sure, however like you say getting over that self conscious hurdle doesn't always come quickly, but it will so try not to let it put you off. I've learned a few things since having my scooter, particularly the fact you need to keep it charged (which won't be a problem if you're using it regularly). Unfortunately I went through a period of time whereby I didn't need to use it, the charge in the batteries dropped below a certain threshold and now they won't charge enough for me to be able to use it. I'm not sure what to do really, I suppose I'll have to buy new batteries for it, they're like small car batteries. Also, it might be an idea to insure your Scooter as it's an expensive item. I'm not sure where you are in the world, but I live in the UK and I've actually just renewed my insurance for just £59 (with Blue Badge Mobility Insurance) which is relatively cheap and quite good value I think. I'd be interested to know which Scooter you have gone for if you don't mind my asking. All the best to you - Neil.

@@grahambarrett5569 I've just Google the scooter and it looks the BUSINESS! (watched the video on CareCo website) Very similar to the one I've got in fact. As it does 8mph you'll have to register it with the DVLA, effectively it needs to be taxed but this does NOT cost you anything. It's just procedure, and quite straight forward. Definitely a good idea to get somebody to come and set it up for you, I wished I had done this now because we really struggled. Good luck with it Graham.

That's a nifty little machine. I know what you mean about feeling self conscious. I do whenever I have to use a wheelchair, mainly because those pushing me around are 15 years older than me. yes its been awhile Neil. They wanted to do stem cell implantation on me but I am still not totally convinced that it is worth the hassle. I have so many friends that did it and regretted it. They fry your immune system so you have to stay away from the general public for a while and if guests come over you have to have a mask on so no infections can bring your immune system down. And a few of my friends who have MS have not benefitted from it so I still think the research is a little ways from perfection. But all in all, I have those days where it is good and I can enjoy life and work overseas and then days where I am in bed with tremendous pain and little sleep. But love watching those videos of yours and getting encouraged by you and Theresa so I wait to see what other things are happening with you. But that scooter really takes off there Neil and red color attracts the police so don't speed and get a ticket, In the states with have bike lanes and electric wheelchairs go to fast in them get stopped and are given a ticket. Such is life. Talk to you soon and say hi to Theresa for my friend.
@NeilBradleyMS
@NeilBradleyMS 5 лет назад
Hi Bodhi, thanks for the update . A lot of people have suggested I go for the stem cell treatment but like you I’m put off it because of having to have my immune system “re booted”. They do this with chemo and I’ve read it can push you to within an inch of your life, and actually be life threatening. Then you’ve got the opportunist bugs whilst you’ve got nothing to fight back with. Also, any existing MS damage is permanent and can’t be repaired. No thanks !! We’ve also got the cycle lanes, and scooters go bombing down them as well but I’ve never heard of somebody getting a ticket lol. Take care my friend 🙏

I will be getting a scooter like this soon and I am wondering if the seat is easy to remove, and if the tiller can fold down. The reason I am asking this is I hope to get an SUV type vehicle and it could be possible to have a small crane installed to lift it in and out. I have SPMS. Also I am 6 foot and I will also need to stretch my legs. Is it possible to do that?
@NeilBradleyMS
@NeilBradleyMS 4 года назад
Hi Robert, I’m pretty sure there is a lever which releases the seat. And yes, the Tiller does fold down so far. Best thing to do is search for the scooter model on RU-vid and there are videos demonstrations how to construct it, this is what I did when looking. My scooter is VERY heavy though, I think near to a 100kg. I also had the thought of a winch installed into a SUV type vehicle but never got round to buying a new car. I’m never quite sure how much longer I’ll be driving which makes me unsure about investing. Being tall isn’t the best, but it’s not too bad. I’m able to put my feet up on the front wheel arches which helps, or you can put them flat down on the floor. It’s not too bad to be honest. I hope that helps Robert. I’m interested to know what condition you have and particularly how it’s effecting your mobility. All the best.

Hello to you both,🤗 was thinking of you both yesterday and here you are!! Don't you look the bizz on your wheels.I also felt very self conscious and still do when I'm out and about.Its fair to say some folk judge but you know what guys...who gives a monkeys.Mind how you go round the shops Neil cos I had security follow me round Matalan!! Was having a moan under my breath about it all ...then realised I had half the ladies scarves and costume jewelry hanging of the back and side of my scooter😂😂😂 then I was trying to look at ladies clothes and scooting through the aisles thinking🤔🤔I'm sure I just seen these clothes round other side ...I was only pushing the rail round with me and not realised it!!.I don't know how I've not been banned yet.😂😂😂.I'm told I'm a holy terror round shops.great fun though.Seriously Neil I'm happy for you both that you got some independence back.Lovely to see you smile . Illness is a hard one and when you get pain constant you do feel like your going mad.,you also feel like you never stop talking about what hurts today etc.Its a rollercoaster ride.I had 2 blood clots January both lungs.I thought it was the ms hug.very scary stuff.Im now taking blood thinners.Im told now that I will get more.I see a blood doc in January to see if I stay on thinners or come off them.staying on them can cause bleeding .I'm sure it's sent to test us Neil.Stay positive Neil and much love to you both.Teresa you are a girl after my own heart.By the way ...I love your garden and the flowers.god bless both.😘😘😘

Hello Sharon, and thank you for your lovely kind words. Have to say though, I was smiling at the thought of you “shoplifting” (literally) round Matalan without even realising 😂. Oh deary me. I also feel like I talk about my pain and weakness continually, but it’s because it’s scary isn’t it. I’m so lucky to have Teresa, she’s always there to listen. Love her to bits. So pleased you enjoyed the video, and the flowers in the garden. Take care. 💞

Hi Jane, nope don’t need a reg plate but because I’m able to ride it on the road I do need to register it with the DVLA here in the UK.

I’m feeling about the same as usual Dee Dee, which isn’t too bad. I’d feel much better if I could walk more than a few feet without struggling. Thank you for asking, how are you feeling today?🙏
