FloofyCloud the Doggo something interesting I’ve noticed about Virgil when it comes to singing is that every time he does it its completely by choice. The time he’s forced into doing it in the 12 days of Christmas video he totally shuts down and refuses even though he’s done it before. I noticed it because this is something I’ve caught myself doing. For example: in lower school it was required to participate in a play every year and I absolutely hated every part of it and yet this year I joined an improv club which is personally even more terrifying. But I had a choice. It’s something I’ve noticed about how anxiety works and I love that Virgil represents it.

This was before 1. Virgil realized he didn’t have to hide behind a facade 2. Patton started acting more like a kid 3. Roman figures out how to be nice to the others 4. Logan... yeah I can’t explain the singing 5. Deceit showed up and was like, “yeah buddy, I exist and I’m a creepy snake”

Those two are more similar than they'd like to admit

the way virgil took this glance around when thomas sang 'they could be lies' and that supports that?? he looks really paranoid-

The interesting thing is during that sequence Virgil looks really tense and uncomfortable and even Logan looks around while riffing and then Patton just does this really weird smirk into the camera that isn't very Patton-like at all. Methinks the talk of lies called Deceit to the table for a moment but went away when Thomas said he wouldn't let it be lies and thus Virgil relaxed and went away. Makes me really think that even here where he's considered more of a Dark Side that he was truly trying his hardest to keep Deceit away from Thomas as long as possible, even here where he was getting flack for doing so.

Deceits a slimy boi. But I agree, this video was Virgil trying to keep deceit away from Thomas, in his own way. Like when he said “you sicken me, you can’t always rely on a catchy tune to solve your problems” he was trying to hide the immense gratitude for Thomas and the others that he felt for using the song to steer the conversation away from lying, and hearing that Thomas would actually try to follow up on his goals instead of lying to himself calmed Virgil down.
