Yes, knowing the map is a huge advantage. Been playing DayZ since 0.38 and it's still my favorite game. Started sometime in 2014, I think, and I still suck. So many fun and incredible moments with this game. The paranoia and adrenaline spikes are real. lol Just don't get attached to your loot. Look at every death as a new adventure, because no two lives will be the same. Looking forward to the next vid!
Great vid man. Been playing DayZ for a few years and I can confirm that the fear/rush u get from PVP battles NEVER goes away. It's what makes this game great. Hope to see more DayZ vids. ✌️

Careful buddy. This shiznit is addictive. I'll try to keep it brief. When you find a well, drink until you see the full stomach symbol. Trees are your friend in Chernarus. Little trees in town tend to spawn apples and pears. Cooked fruit is at least twice as nutritious as raw. Dead zeds despawn after about 10 mins so it can be a sigh someone else is around. Mushrooms in the forest usually means a player has been through, however they do spawn a bit ahead of you as well. I go by the rule of "gun in hand" If you look fully geared but don't have a gun out, you're safe from me anyway. Good luck! I hope to see more.
I keep my gun out man. In the case I hear a shot or get shot, if I don’t have it out already it’s pretty much game over a lot of the time. Still good tips.
Great episode! I was on my toes almost the whole time just by seeing you surviving. I have played about 600 hours and it still gives me adrenaline rush every time I play it.
Hey Fisk I'm super happy to see you're diving into the world of DayZ! Definitely a tip to keep in the back of your mind as you loot is to make police stations, clinics/hospitals, and grocery stores your main priority. Always be careful as others will have the same idea so try to make your way inland as there are better tiered loot the more in you go. Look for barracks they usually have really good gear (Tier 4)! Lastly, this game gets better with friends. :) Literally when I saw the notification for this video at work I jumped which excited the dogs I was watching over. Needless to say I had to spend some time calming them down after. 😅

You did great Fisk! Ravplays, and as someone else said Wobo are both great for new players, but just a couple bits you could use right away, you don't need a lighter to start a fire, just a knife to collect bark and short sticks, you can make a fire drill. Also you can collect sticks with your hands, just walk up to a bush with empty hands and the prompt should show up. Finally I wasn't sure if you did or not but make sure to unpack ammo by taking to your hands and holding left click, otherwise you can't load it in your gun, loved the video though bud!
Some starter tips: 1. Hold shift while holding right mouse button and then click left mouse button will perform a charged melee attack. With these you can stunlock zeds and players and do more damage. 2. wash your bloody hands after skinning an animal or a player, before eating or else you will get sick. Alternatively wear gloves to avoid bloody hands. Two rags can be used for crafting improvised handwrapping. 3. combine a bone with a knife and you craft fish hooks, combine two full stacks of rags to craft a rope, or combine guts with a knife to get a rope. Combine rope with a long stick and you’ll get an improvised fishing rod. Take knife into your hands, look to the ground, for digging up worms for fish bait, which you then can combine with the hook. 4. if you find bottles, empty them before filling them up with CLEAN water, or else you can get cholera.

Great vid Fisk! One tip I would suggest is that in terms of in game etiquette, running around with your gun out makes people more likely to just open fire on you as you appear already the aggressor. As you go further inland you might want to have it out to defend yourself, but it's really your preference though!
Tips: if under geared either be cautious or go apeshit, find a clinic( bandages, blood draw kits, and iv starter packs) and tetracycline for infections. It'll save your life and save food and water when ya get wrecked. Orchards are a good place to get picked off while grabbing fruit, but the food is easy and dried food last a while. I don't play anymore, but glad to help. Also a knife or axe can cut clothe for rags if u do t have bandages. Oh and never turn down chlorine tabs or sewing kits. Water is life so drink right and sewing kits fix clothes and can stitch up wounds. You can also upgrade that baseball bat with barbed wire or nails. Stay truly amazing as always!
First off great kill. Tips: 1. You can craft a fire starter with bark and sticks 2. Drink soda if your low on blood, you won’t pass out as much. 3. Wash your hands after you butcher animals so you don’t get salmonella 4. Don’t drink the lake water without boiling or using chlorine tablets 5. Search around trees for apples and pears I mean I could go on. Over 2000 hours in this amazing game. Every inch of that map has a memory attached to it. I’ve had so many adventures and met so many cool people. Check out the DUG server……..but beware of dark as midnight. DUG is a hardcore roleplay server and it’s crazy popular.
Few tips. If you would've picked up a stack of bones where you found the bone knife you could craft more knives and fish hooks. Fish are one of the very best food sources. Good to a little stream or pond in the middle of the forest. Catch carp. They're better than mackerel. And you passed up a black skater helmet which helps protect you from going unconscious when hit by a zombie or melee from a player. The covered helmets I don't like either but if you find a skater, hockey or military helmet that's your best bet. Also if you see a geared player with a playe carrier and yiuve got the double barrel shotgun put it on double shot. It fires both bullets at once. That will take out anyone no matter what they're wearing and no matter where you hit them. Dayz is by far my favorite game. Been playing a few years and still learning. You're doing a lot better than me when I first started. Took me months just to be able to survive from starvation and sickness much less pvp.
Glad you are getting into this game. At 4:20 it instantly reminded me of the first time I went off into the tree line in Cherno only to endure 40mins of pain and suffering. Completely worth it. Don't forget to wash your hands after harvesting animals.
with a Shovel, you can bury stashes; you can measure around a large tree using dropped items, cut the tree down, and bury your stash beneath it in the center of them, and the tree will regrow; if you find several large bushes clumped together, you can cut them down and build the camo shelter in their footprint for a similar stash after they've regrown...
Absolutely loved that - I'm literally just started playing DayZ myself, I have my first spawn and miraculously he's still alive! This video summed up all I've been feeling 😂. You have to post more of this!
Yeah, it's typically frowned upon to kill *fresh spawns. I added the * because (in my opinion) that should only be on vanilla servers where you don't spawn with a weapon. On some of the modded servers, where you spawn in with a weapon....every person for themselves.
Not sure if anyone else has said it... You can make a fire drill by combining a short stick and a piece of bark. To get bark go to a tree with a knife in hand and you'll get the prompt. Something I do when a fresh spawn is cut up any clothing I find and don't want in order to get rags, these can be used to craft improvised hand wraps which act like gloves also the rags can be used in fireplaces and if disinfected you can use them as bandages...make sure to only use disinfected bandages/rags otherwise you can get a wound infection. Learning the basic DayZ survival mechanics (crafting, fishing & hunting) can really help to enhance the experience and enable you to venture away from towns which can be very dangerous at times.....when you talk about unwritten rules of DayZ there is really only 1 and that is NO MIC, NO LIFE meaning if someone doesn't speak, they can't be trusted and get shot immediately BUT enjoy your time in DayZ and exploring the official map as well as community ran servers using modded maps. 💚💚

Amazing video! My PC isn't good enough to run these games well, but I gave DayZ a shot sometime ago either way (wasn't a great experience at all lol). The fact that I watched people play it gave me a constant sense of being watched, I always thought I'd run into a pro streamer/sweaty players that would smell me from the other side of the map and come down to snipe me from some obscure location Lmao. So yeah, I absolutely understand your feelings. The game really does feel intimidating, but you really get that sense of achievement after every fight that you survive, and I really love it! Can't wait to see more of this from you Fisk!
Seeing you play DayZ for the first time is so refreshing. It also brings the game into a new perspective as well. I've seen so many videos of RU-vidrs and streamers playing this game and they're already so far ahead that it breaks the immersion a bit. Would really like to see more of this!

Haha yea i wasnt clear on why i wanted the knife, i needed at least a steak knife to be able to stealth stab zombies, believe at least you can't do that with a stone knife.
Love this vid, and congrats on surviving. And I'd love to see more dayz content in the future hopefully. Quick tips, just keep your food and water as full as possible to heal faster. It's the only way to recover blood and hp. Slow but steady. And be careful with water, only fresh water is out of the pumps, anything found in bottles or canteens just off the ground is likely not clean and will give you cholera. Better off emptying and refilling the bottles at a well then risking it
Move after every one to two shots. People are insanely good at tracking. If you kill someone wait like 5 minutes before looting. Most people run in squads and will camp their buddies body. If you come up on a town and see zombies from a while out it means someone is there zombies only spawn around players. Stay off the roads if you run even 50-75m off the road it will save you a lot. Most people run on the roads so you will see them before they see you. Use page up and page down to zero your gun. Take a look into the prone and crouch variations. You can use the topographical section of the map to choose which rout to take or where to post up for a bit.
Ya I have a tip..somewhere in the first 5 minutes of the video you discarded the skirt.Even though you didn't have a knife yet you should have taken the skirt to then later cut it into rags.Then craft some hand wraps of face wrapping from it,both if you can can. Wouldn't want to get sick now.There are some other benefits but blah blah!
One of my favorite things about you is that you keep your content diverse and don't just play the same game. I don't play anymore but I do miss Dayz PVP for the adrenaline, that feeling when your arms go numb and you're squeezing the life out of your mouse...

Nice stream never seen your vids before. You are correct a lot of this game is map knowledge. Once you mastered that its then loot knowledge where things spawn. Also little tips like getting a knife and making gloves should be one of the first things you should do with the knife. So when you kill a animal you dont get bloody hands which saves time finding water to clean hands. If not you will get sick which means you will have to find pills. Or when you go fast down a ladder you dont get cuts on your hands. Have a little google search of all the things you can craft and what pills does what. Also what can make you sick and try learn them all. All goes a long way. I'd also like to say its nice that you say hello before shooting, but you will soon learn its better to shoot first ask questions later. I'd like to say nice video you done pretty well. I watch many good youtubers like Sour, Nezar, Dexter etc. playing DayZ but I have to admit that never seen anyone play like Fisk did. Granted playing like this would be a struggle to stay alive on a busier server, but it made the experience so much more real and sincere.

I've been playing for about 4 weeks (PC), I build my first gaming PC in 2012 to play Arma. I'm playing on a PVE server to get all the commands, crafting etc down so it's 2nd nature. I've dropped into Vanilla (didn't work out well, but no loss), I think Z is best played as a duo if PVP is involved. It just gives you a better starting chance, if one dies the other can get a start and help the re-spawn. High learning curve, well balanced. That explains the longevity.

Great video! Two tips.1. The compass doesn't work in your pocket. 2. If you need to start a fire you can cut bark off a tree and combine it with a stick to make a fire start drill kit.
Had some problems with that, the start drill kit. It will show in the next video later this week. It would not just catch on fire. Not sure if there was a bug or something like that happening.

You should use your stone knife to cut clothing to rags. 2 stacks of rags make a rope. A rope and a burlap sack make a small courier bag, add 3 sticks and you have a backpack.

Combine a piece of tree bark and a short stick. That makes you a firestarter. Personally, I never use a lighter or anything like that. And never choose jeans over patrol pants. Two reasons. One, patrol pants have more inventory space by a good bit. And two, patrol pants are somewhat water resistance. The wettest they'll get is damp.

One thing I always say to people afraid of pvp but like pve and rp servers. Think of real life, yes it probably may not be as shooty but there would be people out to get you to take what you have for themselves or to exploit you. That's just human nature. Think it is an element RPers forget about and really take away a lot of the thrill of the game from themselves. Nothing adds more to the apocalyptic feel then at any moment someone could be after everything you have. Edit: And one more thing so many people forget. The beautiful thing about Dayz, there is no unwritten rules no matter what anyone may tell you. True dayz only had 1 objective, survive anyway you can. That in itself creates endless play styles.

I like this. I think you should be playing more dayz. I like your sneaky play style. Alot of people play alot more hard-core. But it worked for you.i would like to see more dayz videos. Maybe building cool bases and playing with another person. Maybe fooster or another dayz streamer.

If you don’t have matches or a lighter to cook a hunted animal you can just grab a short stick and use a knife to cut bark off a tree and then combine them to create a wooden hand drill kit to start a fire, you’ll need fire wood anyway so that’s the main way I create fire unless I happen to have matches or lighter but they’re not something you require at all
I just started playing again as well and it’s the best experience. If you want to step it up try playing in 1st person for the immersion, it’s absolutely terrifying but so much fun when you finally get a pvp kill
Fresh spawn advice. Run the coast to find a fishing pole and hook. Check every outdoor toilet. They have surprisingly good loot. Find a knife, craft hand wrappings, and you'll never be hungry again.
