I think that might be his motive for making these films. Quite sure they are not meant as tutorials, just an insight on how he works, as he would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the studio of the great masters he adores.
Furthermore; the term “art” has become flimsy, and for real artist it’s all about the craftsmanship, don’t you think? Appreciating and forwarding great craftsmanship should be inspirational to all admirers of all artists❤
@@gallerigrette3188 I'm not sure on the Craftsmanship thing to be honest. Because some brilliant Craftsmen/Women Create absolutely brilliant work but it's totally boring and meaningless. I'd rather see an Amateurish work full of emotions and feelings. Than a Craftsmanship display for the sake of showing how good they are.
For example ask Three artists at different levels of art to paint and apple 🍏 I would pick the painting that moved me . Not necessarily the one that was accurate ! Plus none are actually actually accurate Because an Apple is an Apple.
I agree. But I also find most amateurish work totally boring and meaningless no matter what amount of feelings the person who made it might have had. By “craftsmanship” I don’t mean how good an artist is to make photorealistic paintings, but I do believe that a trained artist has a better chance of creating something interesting, rather than accidentally creating something good out of passion.

In this case for a primer obviously, as he covers a painting to make a new one on top, but he uses the egg oil tempera in order to make texture an smooth surface and lot in most of his paintings. “Like painting with mayonnaise” as one could put it, since it’s pretty much the same; getting water to emulsify with oil, and get that rich, creamy texture
