I'm usually on RU-vid for instructional videos, so I almost didn't watch this one... I'm so glad I did though. I expected it to be a shallow observation of how the spike changed into a knife. I'm glad you mentioned how our reaction to pain is so important in the outcome, but even more I'm thankful you shared your faith and used Jesus as the best example to follow.

I have no faith, but I try to share kindness, patience, wisdom, professionalism, loyalty.. I am open to helping all. I am waiting for god to talk to me for the faith... I spent 16 years as a highly skeptical and cynical atheist. If you can find so much as a mustard seed of faith, surrender that seed to the creator of all things. God will ever so slowly reveal the wonder of His will to you. Before you know it you will be born again of the Spirit in ways you never thought possible. God is so good and He wants nothing more than to be close to you.

im not religious by any means though this doesnt dampen any of the words you shared genuinely thank you. Wisdom doesn't grow on any tree, cant be bought or sold. Its in the ear and the eye, it can be made, spotted and heard no matter the source.

At 69 years young I have seen more than my share of adversity. In just the last 14 months I have seen heat stroke, a heart attack, a second separate hospital stay, some marital issues and most recently a bad fall. This has been a sample of much of my life. As I watched this and listen to your narration it make me think of the comparison of our lives to that of the potter only working with the steel and other components to create the beautiful yet useful knife. I feel that in my latest series of adversity that God has been remolding me into a new and more useful instrument for His work. In the process of all of it he allowed me the start two new ministries were everyday I am touching the lives of around 60 individuals. But as I touch their lives God has used to also touch mine. This adversity has actually brought a new calm and peace to my live as well as renewed my health through the changes He brought me through. Thank you Lord for letting see and experience the adversity of being reshaped to be in turn renewed. Thank you Scott for sharing this as it helped me to gain insight and perspective that I had been missing.

Excellent video. I have a 5 gal. bucket of railroad a spikes. I have made a couple dozen of those type knives. Interesting factoid: I have a family member who is high up in Gillette (the razor company). In the last 30 years they have torn out all of the old ripples and railroad sidings in the Coalfields WV, KY, VA. Gillette had 'Scouts' looking to source all the old rail. Especially the stuff stamped 'Bethlehem Steel.' Manufactured and laid down in the 1940's-1950's. They said it was the best steel ever made. They bought it by the train load, to be turned into razor blades.

Thanks for this parable. I've have had adversity throughout my whole life and acted tough and hard but at 59 after being forced through illness to sit still I eventually cracked and broke and felt Jesus arms around me like the lost sheep that I was when he rescued me even though I never denied him I didn't really know him Now thank God I do.
