Gotta admire Layla Kaveh's guts. They just went against a 100 year old Grandma, the Mahamatra's greatest fighter, one of the Akademia's greatest scholars and well renowned medic forest ranger, and a 500 year old puppet. These guys' resolve are just insane

they really gotta do more of these character fighting scenes, because they are AMAZING

I love how we can hear Wanderer's, Faruzan's and Cyno's themes during this cutscene

Cyno keeping up with an ex-fatui harbinger is actually really impressive.

Scara literally having fun with the competition tho, but glad that Kaveh winning and everyone gets their own time to shine too, especially Faruzan is my Favourite one here ✨

Scara had no intentions of actually participating , so he was fighting cyno for the sake of violence and i love him for it

Wow... I don't think we've had a limited time story event with a fight scene THIS GOOD since 2.3's *"Evil Albedo vs Everyone"* in Dragonspine event. Fight choreography was very well done, *especially the Wanderer vs Cyno scenes.* 🔥

I think it always looks nice when a character's playstyle and abilities are portrayed accurately in a cutscene, like layla's shield, faruzan's polyhedron, wanderer's propellers, etc.

CHARACTER THEMES: 0:11 Faruzan's theme comes in. It's soft but not much else is playing so it's easy to hear. 0:20 Wanderer's 'Tatarasuna Theme' (flute drop in his boss fight, his demo theme, Tatarasuna motif) can be heard if you listen closely. It's really in the background and remixed to fit the setting more. 0:26 Faruzan's theme again plays lightly, joined equally by Wanderer's Tatarasuna theme. If you're having trouble hearing it, Faruzan's is higher and Wanderer's is deeper. 0:33 Wanderer theme. Same one that plays when he gets his vision (he has a lot of themes...) 0:39 Tighnari's theme comes in! It's a bit hard to tell since it's remixed quite some (quicker and different instrument), but if you listen to the part in his demo where he uses his burst, it's the same thing. Just modified. 0:47 Cyno's theme! Very loud. 0:50 Faruzan's theme, this time more noticeable since it's played alone and much more like her demo theme than the other times. 1:12 I think that's Cyno's theme playing! More subtle than last time, but might be same difficulty to notice since it's from a more unique part of his theme. Tell me if you hear any more.

Scara actually enjoying himself is a sight to see. And it really shows he could've won easily but he prioritized having fun over winning.

Hoyoverse never cease to amaze me - with each event there are more and more activities, and the cut scenes are longer and more interesting. Please continue to please us!

This event felt like Kaveh's story quest and I LOVED it! He's so relatable and already a personal favorite

Now I want an event with a Combat Tournament, imagine how cool the fights would be. Perhaps when Natlan is released.

The fact that the cutscene is literally Wanderer vs everyone else is amazing!

This event was refreshing since we literally not being the main star instead just a special commentators and just watch how things unfold between the competitors. Also Kaveh doing the right thing with the Daedem and not following those before him.

This cutscene really does make the personality for each characters so well, one of the reasons why I enjoyed this.

I love Faruzan and Kaveh's interaction so much. It's like his granny helping her grandson

I like how Kaveh basically won with his scholarly abilities since he actually used them to make Mehrak in the first place While others were mostly running and fighting His strategy is actually useful for an academic event

I LOVE how all the themes merge together, and how faruzan's gets all woozy when her device goes on the fritz, aa it's perfect-!!

I love that Kaveh broke the Diadem and stuck to his beliefs! he's an amazing character and I loved that scene so much

They seemed to have had a lot of fun with Wanderer flying and his fight with Cyno!! Amazing work as always!!!

0:32 I liked how the animators made faruzan here it fits her very well

Not Scara nearly rupturing Kaveh's internal organs while whizzing by him. 💀 And not only that, Kaveh snatching the Diadem in midair? WHILE flying through the air at break-neck speed? WHILE in obvious massive amounts of pain from Scara's hit??? Kaveh is a freaking BEAST at performing while under intense preassure, hot dang. Most would have been too dissoriented to secure the Diadem while in that state!

We have to admit, this is one of the best animations in whole game. I absolutely love it.

I like how Nilou and Alhathiam are just staring at Kaveh just loosing his mind and barley looks conscious

I absolutely loved this event, and the reference to the philosophycal views of the characters actually helped me understanding kaveh and alhaitham's relationship better. Said very simply they are like opposites. Kaveh is an empathetic idealist, he cares too much, and that can result in him trying to help others in spite of hurting himself, the second match was the perfect example, when he helped the foxes at the cost of possibly being unable to win. The greatest risk for him would be to adopt a nihilistic view of the world like Sachin, that's why I was sure he would reject his inheritance to continue his research. While alhaitham is a bit colder and rational, im not saying he lacks emphaty, but he does put himself first, but luckly his values align with a certain degree of integrity, he's quite a bit selfish but not greedy, and happy with living a modest life, if not he could be one of the greatest villains, let's just say he has a more objective view of the world compared to kaveh. That explains why they keep on bickering, but alhaitham, although he doesn't agree, actually has a great understanding of kaveh's character.

a cool detail about this cutscene is that when they showed different characters, their theme was playing also and it syncs throughout. amazing detail!

The subtle display of each of their themes when they're shown in the cutscene is just golden ✨ and kaveh's selflessness is so admirable, I'm impressed but I also feel bad for him at the same time 😭

This is undoubtedly one of the ccolest cutscenes in Genshin, and it's only for an event, just tells you that Hoyoverse puts a lot of love into this game!

Once again, I'm distracted by the amazing music. You can hear Faruzan, Cyno, and Wanderer's themes when they're in the spotlight. But not only that, you can hear their distinct instruments. Faruzan with her violins, Wanderer with his Japanese woodwinds, Tighnari with his South Asian woodwinds, Cyno with his heavy horns. It's just so good

Its wonderful how their leitmotif starts playing whenever the character enters the frame, the music is so good in the cutscene

In terms of character development Kaveh is shaping up to me one of my favorites in the entire game. He's not just a shallow caricature, but really complex. Common Hoyo storytelling W

So happy to see Scara again. Not that he made any friends but at least he went out of his cave for a while! Awesome scene!

I love the scene at 1:44 the most. kavehs expression as he realizes that he caught it but then the voice which speaks to him... just these little face and eye movements look so good it really converts the feelings well

They should use this animation style for their upcoming animation because this looks absolutely beautifully made.

Such a great event and fun way to end Sumeru with this sick cutscene. Everyone shined and especially Kaveh who got a lot of development and is too good for this world. Too bad this event isn't permanent. Genshin should rerun events so new players can experience it in the future.

ok i'm sorry BUT THE MUSIC IN THIS CUTSCENE IS SO MUAH MUAH MUAH BEAUTIFUL 0:26 you can hear faruzan's motif faintly 0:32 scara's motif from the cutscene where he got his vision 0:47 cyno's motif 0:50 faruzan's violin again AND THEN JUST PURE CHAOS I LOVE IT

I most literally can’t explain how much I love seeing wanderer flying around and having fun, watching cutscenes like this with them using their skills in unique ways just makes me so happy.

I loved this event so much! All my favorite characters were there. I love the Farazan acts like a grandma, most immortal/slow aging characters all act like 20 something but she has old lady vibes and I’m so here for it. ‘Hat Guy’ lmao. Cyno and Tighnari are so fun I love them as besties and oh my god Kaveh. Protect him at all costs he’s SO adorable. The part where he delayed the second quest because he had to save the desert foxes 😭❤️

Did anyone else notice that the music changed for each character shown to match that character’s theme? That was such a great detail they put for this cutscene.

i seriously love how theres tidbits of each characters theme here's the themes that i gathered so far (andim sure there's more) 0:33 wanderer's theme, showing is surpioritty 0:47 cyno enters the scene 0:49 faruzans theme is weak here showing her being stressed as her device is being haywire 1:11 cyno is seem to be winning here so his theme is more heard here and I'm SURE theres probably more

Kaveh's definitely way stronger than he looks lol, the way he could withstand Hat Guy's attack like that and the fall must've hurt so bad, I was sitting peacefully in my room, and actually flinched when I saw that part. I can't believe I haven't done this event yet, with Star Rail's launch, I was super busy.

The darshan representatives (kinda) teaming up and fighting is so fun to see especially Wanderer and Cyno's part you can really see how the two of them are the most experienced in battle between the representatives, the movements are so smooth too!
