In that case, then most Malaysians are polyglots eg many Malaysian Chinese can speak English, Malay, and Mandarin. In addition to that, some can also speak Cantonese, Hakka, Hokkien, Teochew etc..And that isn't even mentioning the Indians who may speak Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Urdu etc.... 🤔 And of course, there's Arabic too for the Malays
Flora & Note I can't tell you how much I love you guys. You both are my favourite YT couple. Been following you guys from when the pandemic started and now that you have visited Malaysia my home hope we have given you both memorable happy days too as you have given us. Hi Flora and Note...i am so so glad that you guys actually drop by in ipoh...if you guys still in ipoh or dropping by anytime soon again, do let me know...let me bring you for an ultimate ipoh food tour..!!!!!
Really haven't expected Ipoh would be such a gorgeous place. Loved that scenic mountain scenery and very obviously it looks like Ipoh should be on every foodie's shortlist when travelling around Malaysia. We need to visit!!! Great video. Thank you guys 😊
The 'O' in Kopi O means the color black in the Hockien/Teochew Chinese dialect (my own original dialect) or when it comes to drinks, it technically means milk-less. Really love dipping my kaya toast in softboiled eggs as well. Enjoy your Ipoh trip and can't wait for more vlogs from the both of you. Sawatdeekrup! 🙏
I have been following you guys since 2021. I keep adding cities you have visited to my "must see places to visit when I retire". We are starting our Retirement Journey in Malaysia this August. We will be in Malaysia for 90 days. Thanks for giving me more places I need to visit other than Kuala Lumpur and Penang. My list grows with every video you guys put out. Thanks.

Wow! Bloopers are finally back. I passed by Ipoh once on my way to Singapore. Must find a chance to visit this interesting city where my late father once worked and lived long long time ago.
Hi Flora & Note, big thanks to promote my home town, ipoh...if time allows would suggest that both of you go to visit Pangkor Island ...and like your videos
Ipoh is a foodies melting pot and famous for its soup shredded chicken flat noodles, kaya toast with half boiled eggs, salted chicken, dim sum and wan tan noodles. You should visit the Thong Sui Kai (Dessert street) for dinner or supper. Enjoy yourselves, guys in Ipoh!
Oh.. Flora is From Hong Kong , I Was About Said Her Cantonese is So Fluent As Her English . Thanks Guys for Showing The World What Malaysia Is All About. More And More RU-vidrs Are Begin To Like Malaysia . Thanks Again Guys.👍👍👍👍👍👍
i love your vibes; your videos; so well done; a standard by which i judge others .... thanks for quality filming; editing. The drone shots add to the overall professional but yet intimate feel of you as a couple. You guys are great.
Ipoh is also known as "Pah Lo" among the Chinese Malaysians...a city well known for its cuisine and natural attractions like limestone hills and caves. Great that you both enjoyed the "kai si hor fun", white coffee with toasts, egg tart and the famous Tambun pomeloes. That candy floss was too beautiful to be "destroyed" 😂🤓 Don't forget to go for the famous "nga choi kai"( bean sprouts chicken ) salt baked chicken and a few well known pastries. I have a good laugh where Flora broke the stalk of that pomelo 😂🤣😂🤣
WOW! This part 4 series of Malaysia is great. I love the Chinese attire , you both always shot great content. Wish Flora could teach me Cantonese, and I wish Note could teach me Thai. Also I love it when Flora say "Bloopers". How is the weather in Malaysia?
Hi Flora & Note, FYI, the reason Ipoh coffee is known Ipoh White Coffee not because of the milk but the technique of roasting the beans. Ipoh white coffee is beige because of its distinctive roasting, brewing and stirring techniques. In Malaysia, “white coffee” just means a lighter colour of the roast. Compared to the traditional Malaysian black coffee roasted with margarine and sugar, the white coffee is roasted only with margarine gives it a lighter colour. We have to best aromatic coffee. I grew up drinking it as a kid. Kopi O= Black coffee with sugar unless you say 'no sugar' , Kopi =Coffee, condensed milk n sugar. Next visit you both should visit, Thean Chun and Khong Heng for the home made caramel custard, satay, chee cheong fun(local cheong fun) and blanched cuttlefish and water spinach served with special sauce. Enjoy Ipoh😁
I’m constantly shocked at how many people speak Cantonese in Malaysia .. reminds me of old Chinatown here in Vancouver while growing up and heading down on the weekends.. hearing the distant chatter is calming to the soul 🙏🙏
Chinese who came to Malaysia more than 100 years ago were mostly Cantonese & Hokkien, some Hakka & Teochew and other ethnics too. But these days the younger generations here rarely speak Cantonese & Hokkien anymore especially in big cities like KL & Penang. They mostly only speaks Mandarin, which is sad to see them not knowing their mother tongue.
Ipoh have various dialects groups besides Cantonese like the Hokkiens, Hakkas, Hock Chews, Hainanese and others. I am Hokkien, I grew up speaking my dialect mixed with English and bahasa. Watching TVB Cantonese shows and speaking with my classmates and vendors really helps my Cantonese. Sadly, the younger generation mostly speaks Mandarin now, hardly uses Cantonese. 😕 I still use Cantonese to speak to the vendors. Older vendors loves when young people speak their dialect.
@@owlilian28 the world is big but closing in on one another and so unfortunately mother tongues are being lost and in some cases become extinct .. I had the opportunity as a youth to learn but being north americanized, I played more than I learned .. fortunately, I have the opportunity everyday to learn what I didn’t including various dialects so keep up the good work of placing smiles on the elders of the community 🙏🙏
Ipoh and the nearby towns are Cantonese speaking, with pockets of Hakka speakers in some areas. Likewise with Kuala Lumpur. However, towns in northern and southern part of peninsular Malaysia are Hokkien speaking.
One more thing about ipoh is known as “Hipster city” because there is a lot of aesthetics cafe and restaurant.. and you guys gotta try Miker Pizza and Nasi ganja tho it’s really famous in ipoh
I don't believe the "choy san" that the money he received was for temple. Real temple Do Not go out there to solicit money, more so when dressed up as "Money" God. 😂
That cotton candy is AWESOME!!! Nice fun yet very informative video. Good job, Flora & Note! I've subscribed to your channel for over a year and I swear I'm addicted to it! Hope to bump into you guys one day in Thailand krub!
Hi again. Happy that both of you really enjoyed your food in Malaysia. Good that you had visited Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands and now in Ipoh. Famous and best foods here are in Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands with much variety, Ipoh, Melaka and Penang. These are must go places for food. Of course , also the beaches but those are situated at islands nearby. Enjoyed your videos.
Ipoh and Penang is popular for their range of cuisines and street foods. Pomelos is the best in Ipoh (Tambun) and second to none in the country. A giant sized oranges or grapefruits. Ipoh is more or less the epicenter of good street food in Malaysia..
I think most of the old buildings you see in Ipoh are under UNESCO protection just like Melaka. Technically they can't change the main structure and character of the buildings, that's why the city is filled with old buildings.
Hello guys, Another great video ! Which area do you recommend to stay in Ipoh near to convenience stores, street food markets, attractions and public transportation ? Thank you very much. Keep the good job Take care !
@Flora and Note if you roast at high temperature the beans become black and minerals burnt out. That is the fav black coffee that people drink. No value in drinking it.
Don’t forget to visit the many beautiful caves like Gua Tempurong / Perak Cave Temple too while in Ipoh…. Cameron highlands is only an hour’s drive away from here too if you love tea and tea plantations.
The best egg tarts that I’ve ever had in my entire life were at The Royal China Club at 42 Baker Street in London. They open at noon for dim sum as I remember it.
Fun walk in Ipoh. MIchelle Yeoh (star) was born and grew up there. 2nd concubine lane looks fun. Did you eat a whole pamelo? Learned how to pick the right jabon/pomelo based on texture. Flora do you speak Hokkien too? Loved the breakfast. Like H.K.. Thank you enjoyed your vlog.
Before Malaya has its independence, most immigrants from China mostly located here in Ipoh.. Because there is work in the mining industry. My mother was relocated there in her teenage years fleeing from Japanese invasions in China. So, Ipoh has a lot of historical events. As Malaysian, we like to do a makan tour from KL to Penang via road. Happy eating and touring for you. Selamat datang.
13:37 the private tour guide drove us to the same farm 4.5 years ago.... even the pictures on the wall still the same.... do you like the sweet or sour pomelo?
it's very unfortunate to see many dumb people throw garbage everywhere on the streets. if they can't find a garbage bin, at least they should have the courtesy to bring the garbage with them until they can find a garbage bin. Ipoh used to be very clean but now almost everywhere we can see tons of rubbish along the streets and in the rivers.
Ipoh is divided into Old Town and New Town by the Kinta river. Be sure to explore both. If you still in Ipoh on Sunday morning, you can visit the Memory Lane flea market for some nostalgic shopping!
Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia and is almost equal to the size of Peninsular Malaysia. Famed for its dense rainforest and paradise beaches, it is no surprise that Sarawak is one of the top tourist spots in Malaysia. With so much to offer with its rich culture and historical heritages, there are many Sarawak attractions that you should check out. Sarawak capital is Kuching.
Yes, was attracted by her lovely n polite voice ...so sweet ...lucky Note . Subscribe to her interesting channel. Everyday spend 2 hrs hrs running thru her videos
Actually, the home or cradle of the white coffee is the cafe smack opposite to Nam Heong known as Sin Yoon Loong. Unfortunately, SYL have been very complacent and quite contented with the brisk business they've been doing for generations out of that sole and only location. They've been approached by interested parties to take their business down the franchise route or otherwise extend their footprint but they've somehow not seen the potential of it or, as mentioned earlier, totally contented with what they have. As a result, Nam Hong/Old Town Coffee stole a march on them and, sadly, everyone beats a path to this Nam Heong shop thinking it's the birthplace of the Ipoh White Coffee.
Hello Flora n Note.. just subscribed your channel.. welcome to Malaysia.. enjoy watching your videos .. wish u all enjoyed Malaysia tour.. with Love 😍😘 love 💕😘 from 🌻🏠🇲🇾
You do not have kaya toasts and soft-boiled eggs with laksa, dudes. Moreover, they are eaten for breakfast and you have put too much soy sauce in your soft-boiled eggs. Just 1/4 teaspoon and a sprinkle of white pepper to compliment the natural taste of the eggs.
I visit Ipoh some 40 years ago. I. speak Cantonese, Chaozhou, Huayu, English, and also Laotian (on extension, Thai?). That came easy to me, as I was born in Chaozhou, lived in Vientiane, Laos in my childhood, then went over to Hong Kong to study and work, in between to Australia to get my tertiary education, and now retire in Singapore. Now, seeing and learning more about Malaysia.
Ipoh...mostly Cantonese and hakka speakers.... Whenever Michelle Yeah back to hometown she will be out for foods if u are lucky to see her somewhere...apparently! Did u see Malaysia Pizza tower?
How can you eat that cotton candy beauty?!?! It’s too pretty to eat…and then it’s melting it’s sticky gooey ness all over your hands-note to self-bring handiwipes lol. Love the three lanes hope you visited each one and maybe more video on it? But probably moving on lol. I’m always here for ALL of it! That pomelo looks delish, and I’m not a big fan of grapefruit-I have to put spoonfuls of sugar to defeat the bitterness. But that looks unique and I’d want to try it. Soup looked scrumptious too. Safer travels smooth rides joyful explorations 🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️
