this was an earlier version, maybe not a demo but it was released in some way (i cant remember where or how) but then on the album it was a different version.... i prefer this version as well, mainly because of the cymbals at around 4 minutes, they give that part such a cool vibe. when i heard the album version i was confused and annoyed that they changed that part. they mustve thought it was "over playing" or drawing attention away from the vocal or something, but i think it really added to that part and gave it such a cool atmosphere. im rambling now. have a good day!
@@WillHerndonI totally agree.. and it was released on the original album but they took it away and then released the updated unauthenticated version lol I love this one!!!
The drums are the real difference maker that makes this the definitive version to me. That and the higher last note that Maynard holds out…matters more to the experience of the song than you might think.
No matter what, I just can't can't get enough of Maynard. Whether I'm listening to Tool, A Perfect Circle or Pussifer. I feel like Maynard is a genius. Pure genius! Love this song💜
ryanspears1986 Maynard is one of the best male vocalists and lyricists of all time and the way he used to move on stage in Tool is different on stage to what came before him. He’s harder to replace than any other member of the bands he is in. I don’t think there has ever been a better male vocalist in Rock than Maynard and he’s possibly the greatest known lyricist of all time hence the depth etc.
Moving in and out of the shadows Its no easier mission Holding onto how I picture you Showing only bits and pieces Till the tide betrays you and your empty allocution Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of humility Searching your eyes for the saint is an act of futility Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of it searching your eyes for humility searching your eyes for a hint or a trace I'm still searching searching Showing all the missing pieces Till the light betrays you and your empty allocution Saw the Piper by and down the river Caught his crippled alchemy From pounding waves of adoration Pied Piper float on down the river Bloated carcass crippled me The weight of adoration Moving in and out of the shadows Its no easy mission Holding on to how I picture you.
Stone and echo live at red rocks is one the best live recorded shows ever recorded in the history of recordings. The vibe they set live is unreal. This is how music is supposed to be. Full of emotion and passion.
Funny you should say that. I'm getting a cover-up done on my left arm, which will be part of a sleeve that mostly consists of TOOL artwork. Just working on finding the right tattoo artist to do it.
Be careful who you let do it cause my sister got the A Perfect Circle symbol on her ankle and the guy really fucked it up. The guy who's gonna be doing the Lateralus eye for me is really awesome at tattooing so i trust him and he's tattooed a lot of my friends so I don't really have to worry there.
***** So she should fit in to what you consider "original"? It's only ruined if what is put there isn't meaningful. What does ruin your image is judgment, though....so I'd say, with your judging, you are ruined.
I think the vocals are way better on Eat the Elephant, and given the context of the song I think that might be more important, But yeah Freese would have made the rerecording even better.
The Universal Pigeon really? Fifty bucks says he's using some sort of Auto tune type of thing on that version. Not obvious here, though. Also the drums on this are dope as fuck...the hi hat when the heavy guitar bit ends....much better than whatever the fuck they did re recording it.
Every time I listen to A Perfect Circle or Tool I get emotional. Even when I think I won't I do. Thank you guys for creating beautiful music and memories for me.
by and down" Moving in and out of the shadows. It's no easy mission, Holding on to how I picture you. Showing only bits and pieces, Till the tide betrays you, And your empty allocution. Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of humility. Searching your eyes for the saint is an act of futility. Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of it. Searching your eyes for humility. Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace, I'm still searching, searching. Showing only bits and pieces, Till the light betrays you, And your empty allocution. Rode the Piper by and down the river. Carcass crippled underneath, The pounding waves of adoration. Pied Piper float on down the river. Bloated carcass, crippled knee, The weight of adoration. Moving in and out of the shadows. It's no easy mission, Holding on to how I picture you.
Ifitallfails Love this song, but I think it may be "bloated carcass crippled 'neath the weight of adoration". It makes more sense anyway, especially because the earlier line was "carcass crippled underneath the heavy waves of adoration".
This song has helped me to overcome my anxiety and dark thoughts. I have always loved APC and their music. Maynard Keenan poignant songwriting skills is impeccable.
I had to listen to this a few times, Once wasn't enough for me. APC is one of my favorite bands and always will be along with tool. Maynards lyrics are so wild.
APC has always been the absolute best blend of perfection in instrumental play and genius lyrics. Life changing music, never seen in the metal or other stages. Listening to this makes sense of still playing albums from 10 or so years ago. Every note, every pitch pulls you closer to being...
I can't even comprehend how much more sad a person Maynard has made me throughout the years I listened to his lyrics. And that's not even a bad thing. It's almost like neurotic suffering is mandatory part of the process of enriching ones inner self.
There's a time and a place to be sad but it's not good to be sad all the time. And I agree, MJK's music does leave one somber. But it is far better to go through life joyous rather than depressed. And in that case, one might need to pluck out their right eye if it's making them feel that way, i.e., get rid of the music.
Maynard is an incredibly gifted genius. Fact He does alot of things with his life and not always public. The fact that hes gifting us with another album in 2018 is gracious as is. Hes sharing his mind with all of us. That isnt something you can rush. His music from any band is incredibly valuable to me and id rather wait if it means he comes out with awe inspiring things like this. Unlike many bands and musicians, he keeps coming out with music that is on par or better than his previous releases. Thats a rarity in and of itself. This man is an unspoken inspiration and has touched my life in so many ways and i will always be greatful and thankful for all of the hardwork that he, and all of his bandmates puts into their music. Im extremely eager to enjoy his new release. I really enjoy his intelligence in all aspects. A true inspiration to the open minded and anyone else who cares to listen.
I went to a TOOL concert and cried the whole time. Then this very strong wonderful women looked at me dead in my face and said "1111" then she picked me up of my feet! EPIC! just EPIC!
Love this music man, Its really helped with my spiritual awakening and the expansion of my mind. Meditation was made easier through starting while listening to Maynard, taught me how to access certain parts of my consciousness on command.
The silence is crying, whining, trying to solidify in my mind. Or is it in yours, just screaming out to mine. The time is nigh, beyong a feeling of high tide, drowned in fear beyond a lost sign. Hand in hand with myself, the pain never subsides but instead lies within the chimes of all crimes. Echoes and sins, locked in a tin, feeling as though nothing...exists. Presets to weakness, deafness and blindness to nothingness, Becoming hollow again, insanity in existentialism, while living deathly in premonition. Taking a last breath, to breathe somewhere less suffocating. Choking the dear life out of me. It seems to be, or not to be. Just let me see the me that is to be. Give me the keys and let me drive, not strive but be alive.
you gotta give it up for billy howerdel...that guitar man at the end just crying loud and carrying you the ringing out of that last note. this is pure genius
I've lucky enough to see APC quite a few times. Once met Maynard Keenan in a casino very nice man. He was there the show and playing at a table right before. My husband met a famous wrestler at a Cure concert at Shoreline in CA. He instantly knew who he was.
Cripplingly beautiful! Maynard and Apc always find a way exposing and elevating our dirty bits as well as our fragility. There's something about their music that just chills my blood and I crave it like heroine.
Very well put. I ask did you intend on spelling heroine like in a story? Either way, very beautifully put. It's nice to see someone carrying and thinking about what they are saying to people. Think before speaking. Well done.
This song is incredibly strong and i feel like but with ambitious and ready. I listen to this song before work and after at least everyday. It's a masterpiece best song by Maynard or who ever wrote the song. By the way he's a strange dude. Truly he could be the pope i wouldn't care as long as his music is playing. stranger the better. By and Down- forever be in bed into my brain.... PEACE ALL
98 people who are afraid to hear how they are supposed to feel. America, a place where we are convinced we shouldn't feel. Not by good media, but instead by cowards who hate the thought we are all conscious feeling beings. all desperately lost trying to admit to ourselves WE NEED TO FEEL THIS! absolute zero emotions is our own undoing. wake up america and feel normal.
Ugh...I miss APC man. My favorite band of all time, I love every single song they have made and this might be my favorite. Maybe its just me clinging onto my favorite band, but damn listening to this really makes you feel like shit knowing these guys will most likely never make another album again.
This is absolutely amazing. The music, the lyrics, the experience I feel listening to it is so raw. This is a fucking timeless group. So is Tool and Pusifer. I fucking love y'all. You fill my days and nights with this awesome music that takes me away from all the bullshit around me and I thank y'all for real.
