One escalation is enough to start a global war. Probably with Russia and the country’s that support them. If we lose. We are gonna be the doomed. This song is so ahead of its time and predicts almost the future. We humans probably gonna destroy ourselves. 🤔
This is so dark and honest. I don't know why people think saying stupid generic things about happiness will help you when you're in a shitty place. Sometimes what you need is just honesty. For someone to acknowledge how absolutely fucked up life is.
Exactly and that you cannot expect others to fill the void of unhappiness in your soul. You cannot demand that of others. I see this very phenomena happening in society far too often.
Something special about this song. Not sure what it is - but its like finding that box in your basement that has that stuff you remember. Then you just sit there, in the living room floor, opening the box, holding the things, so full of emotion. Then you look up and time has past, the world has changed. You feel different.
You have to keep in mind this is not Tool. This is APC. So the feeling is different. When Mer De Noms (or whatever it was called) came out it felt familiar but distant. The key thing was it wasn't horrible so you stuck with it......then it grew on you........then you couldn't live without it. This song will get there with you, it just needs the rest of the album to accompany it.
You're spot on there. Mer De Noms was almost there, but felt unfamiliar at the same time. Every APC album just got further away for me. I think my association for Tool was so strong, at such a young age, that I'm just connected to it in a way I can't connect to anything else...but it's Maynard, so that's what I want. I dunno. It's confusing to explain. Tool hit me so hard and so fast in a way I had never experienced music. At the time I was probably 12 or 13. I just connected to it immediately in such an intense way. The videos, the album art, the culture. It felt like it was tailor made for me. I crave that feeling something serious, and always hope for it with APC.
Agree, a special song but similar feel and message to the old stuff. It's been a decade or so since I listened to Tool or APC in heavy rotation, so this new song (and video) is both jarring & haunting, like Tool was in the beginning. This song drags with it an eerie authenticity, like Maynard has returned from the afterlife with this song as his bleak and honest revelation.
Maynard's eyes are just as piercing as 20 (or more) years ago... if not even more... This man is aging so beautifully. Incredible creature. I love the video. It's just enough.
The whole album is a commentary on life. The first 8 songs are what, in 2018, had already occurred. The final 3 songs are his prediction for the future. 2 of the 3 have already transpired, in order. The last will likely occur shortly.
I’ve been coming back to this song more recently, as it’s become a haunting 2020 anthem for me during this crazy pandemic. We are in a lot of ways on our own. Take care of each other.
So the video is just the band members looking at the camera. At first it might seem like a cheap sort of minimalist video... Then you realize they're staring at us, the people watching... Because the song is about us.
It is about us. And it is effective. Because each individual has this expression that says it all. Some turn cheek. Some look right at you. Some change into different moods. But then it's just them in unison, altogether. The video is using minimal effort to extract our own perceptions of said video as well as trying to conveys certain ideals. James iha has the probably most profound expression. His eyes criticize and Maynard is just like whatever. I told you so kinda. Billy seems exhausted. Etc.
You're entitled to your opinion but I think you are trying too hard to prove this is an inspired, meaningful video when I think it is just lazy and doesn't fit the song at all.
This album is more punk in it's message than most punk albums! I love Maynard and Billy's visceral approach to the state of human life and society! Maynard gets it, he just does; that's why I'm a huge fan of everything he works on. This song hits right in the jugular and makes no apologies for it! Love from Ireland.
@@MediaSubliminal that saying never had any truth to it. The germans were not indifferent. They were mad and poor. They had been taken advantage of by the banks. They were fooled into thinking salvation and revenge would came in the form of socialism/restrictions of rights and speech/censorship/book burning.
Just like when the song was uploaded on here, had to stop everything and run to come watch this 🙌 also this is the most eye contact I've ever made in my life
MrAmc1291 Maynard barely ever showed his face when he was in Tool but APC he is more commonly seen but even to this day in APC you haven't seen his face like this. Therefore, this song and video has so much meaning in it and alot of people will not understand that.
Blessed is MJK and the Perfect Circle for providing my life with a reasonable desire to still maintain the belief that there is still some humanism on this planet.
@taxation is theft memes news & more Yeah but not through exploitation of others. If anything their record labels are exploiting their talents, and keeping a huge percentage.
@taxation is theft memes news & more He works extremely hard and employs others. And only rich in the neoliberal sense. The actual rich have basically no use for money, other than to keep score. They are more interested in owning things like natural resources, you know like oil, land and politicians.
My sister and I saw Tool twice at the beginning of the year, in Atlanta in the stands, and local in Pensacola on the Floor. She died September 29th of a Heroin overdose, it was the last concert we saw together. I'm sad she missed this.
Behold a new christ Behold the same old horde Gather at the altering New beginning, new word And the word was death And the word was without light The new beatitude Good luck, you're on your own Blessed are the fornicates May we bend down to be their whore Blessed are the rich May we labour, deliver them more Blessed are the envious Bless the slothful, the wrathful, the vain Blessed are the gluttonous May they feast us to famine and war What of the pious, the pure of heart, the peaceful? What of the meek, the mourning, and the merciful? All doomed All doomed Behold a new christ Behold the same old horde Gather at the altering New beginning, new word And the word was death And the word was without light The new beatitude Good luck What of the pious, the pure of heart, the peaceful? What of the meek, the mourning, and the merciful? What of the righteous? What of the charitable? What of the truthful, the dutiful, the decent? Doomed are the poor Doomed are the peaceful Doomed are the meek Doomed are the merciful For the word is now death And the word is now without life The new beatitude Fuck the doomed, you're on your own
I think it's "and the world was without light" and "and the world is now without life". At least that makes more sense to me, and sounds better than "word" twice in a row.
@@SaHaRaSquad Its word... The song is bible verses backwards basicly and its mocking people who call themselves Christians but go against the word of god
@@mrsam9206 Then the question is, what are you(anyone) doing? Have you repented, believed on Christ, been changed, living a holy life? John 14:6 1 Peter 1:15-16
this song shows just how i see society these days. we praise those with power, rich and fame while we overlook the caring, the helping and the loving ones.
This song is Genius. He inverts biblical scripture to the Dark reality of this paradigm. Brilliance. If you don't know the Bible this song doesn't resonate as deeply.
I think it has more to do with the so-called "Christian [political] right" than with actual Christians, but yeah. There's a ton of hypocrisy in Western "Christianity."
First time I didn't understood the meaning of this song, because english is not my main language. It's easier for me with lyrics, so I read them. This song brought me in tears... Such powerful lyrics.... And the most important thing... Talks about the real world and what's happening right in this moment.
SicraN he is describing the coming reign of the antiChrist, and it’s closer than we realized, it’s here, good luck your on your own ? Many may be but as for those with faith in the Gospel of Christ we are not, the Spirit of the one true God dwells with us. Now is truly the time to repent and believe the Gospel of Christ
Robert yee that is true and that is consistent with the behavior and actions of lost souls. But even the lost can spout truth in moments and not even understand what they are doing. Art is something that means different things to those who behold it. The lyrics do describe the culture of antichrist. It’s okay if you disagree with me but when you stand before your creator you will realize I am correct
Nicholas Anderson yeah why don’t atheists have an equal dislike for other religions like Islam, they will say they do but their behavior tells a different story, but if I’m not mistaken I think Maynard believes in a higher power but the new age universal salvation apart from Christ
This entire album got me through a really rough time. I worked at a brokerage firm and lived in a area that was full of uninformed and ignorant people. I have since moved and I can listen to this song without tearing up now. I will miss driving the Blue Ridge Pkwy to work listening to this album, but nothing else about that horrible experience. It is just nice to know that other people feel the same way you do...that you are not alone.
This song has one of the best intros to hook someone who's never heard of this band. I had this one repeat for like 20 times the first time I heard it. Instantly made me a fan.
I used to listen to this song when my Mum would visit. She was my only family. Mum died of Lung Cancer October 2019, it was sudden and quick. This song was eerily foreshadowing now I look back. Love you Mum, I've got this.
Hey. I'm still listening a year later. Just noticed this comment. Step Dads got one foot in the grave now. Soon I will be on my own. I'm a fighter though, if you think I'm doomed then I feel sorry for what's about to happen.
It does not matter! Whether it’s TOOL, A PERFECT CIRCLE, or PUCIFER yes in that order! Cause that is how MAYNARD has made the great CULT! The most underrated artist, truly a master and genius of his CRAFT!
that's because it's not the best song . That decision can only be made by a mystical council of druids specialized in music. The video itself is also pretty piss poor consisting of bust shots that are desaturated and contrasted against the background , a visual technique that would crumble if there was a black guy in the group. Not to mention that embarrassing mess of a hair display on that one guy. As for the eyes... It's called a ring light, get over it. friggin porn uses ring lights, it's not a special thing. And it's not that people ignore "powerful messages". It's that they are bombarded with distractions on all sides. The song itself is perfectly fine =-=
@@justafish9618 lol I wish that was the case. Why don't you try it? Make up a draft for a song, find people to perform for you, practice the coordination, perform for the final result. Get a manager , have him offer you a spot, accept the revisions that are being demanded of you. Apply for a video shoot. Supply or pay for recording and lighting equipment. Perform on a green screen , have someone skilled in visual media tell "you" how to act and how to look for the video. Revise everything and publish to the public. Somewhere in all this summarized mess is the innocent view of "songs are messages" that gets diluted and lost. I'm not telling you to not like what you like, but...better pop that bubble sooner than later. Times have changed and the industry needs numbers, not emotions. Most artists use that disappointment and frustration as fuel to push forward. Music has changed in more ways than one : / The middleman has poisoned the waters.
Indeed... With Biden " In charge " you lot are doomed, the worlds enemies are dancing free knowing sleepy joe has no ability to defend the states and it's allies... Sad times.
Im having one of the most difficult times in my life, emotionally. When this album released i felt it's powerful hug and slap. APC is truly one of the best bands ever. Providing thought through raw feeling.
Doug super me too my friend. I trust that you are now doing better as this was posted a year ago. Cheers. I’m entering the shit now and I find myself playing this song on repeat.
The expressions and the choice of colors say it all. Great video, guys! It very well complements the message of the song. This song has grown on me ever since I played it for the first time last month. For me, it is right up there with all your previous hits like 'The Outsider', '3 Libras', 'Gravity', etc., and I listen to it almost on a daily basis. I'm really happy with the direction the band is heading toward with this album. Eagerly waiting to hear the full set of songs next year. A Perfect Circle rocks hard! Cheers.
I love bands that have eloquent thought provoking haunting lyrics that not only make u feel their empathy but make u long for a place u feel uve been even though it's never really existed
I know nothing ever lasts forever but this glimpse of the art that Maynard puts forth will transcend time for other generations just like devinci or Michelangelo he will forever be remembered as one of the greatest artist ever to bless earth I'm just so glad it's during my time that I have gotten to watch him perform so many times in my life and I lean on his music whenever I'm in a bad time tool and apc forever my favorites thank you Maynard for always being able to bring me back to center no matter the situations in my life
I agree man. Totally changed my life. I've been huge fan and finally saw tool and perfect circle this year . The music is absolutely amazing and he puts out such a great message. This song in particular took a couple listens to actually understand and enjoy it. Then I smoked a lil weed and watched the video. Very powerful stuff.
Yeah, possibly. Except that the majority of people around don't know who Maynard Keenan is, they just don't. He's not like Bono or Bowie or Geldof et al. Go to the opera or a classical concert and do an in house survey, bet they won't know who the flip you're talking about. Polite society simply have never been exposed to his artistic endeavors. Not yet anyway. Imagine rocking up there and unleashing a grab of The Grudge, or Third Eye to such sensitive ears!!, hehe. What fun. I'm guessing when he's done with musical expression, he'll shift formats that will give him greater exposure amongst the conservative majority out there. He's already done some of that with blogs and wine writings. Though I can't see Tool or APC ever getting bona fide mainstream airing. Because remember: Tool is the biggest band in the world nobody has ever heard of. Test it out.
I loved APC since mer de noms and heard this song and was like ...meh its ok...and the more i listen to this album the more I realize this is one of their most talented and therapeutic and poetic albums I've ever listened to..I cant get enough of it regardless of any emotion I'm going through
Some people really hated this album, but I stood firmly on my belief that this album was relevant then and now. This album will always hold great merit 💖
There are no words that can truly speak to my love for this group of musicians. A Perfect Circle has changed my life in many ways. I can associate some of the best and worst times in my life with their music. I traveled 1400 miles to see them in Sacramento, CA and I will see them in Seattle tonight. "We're all fucked."
Uhm.. Am I the only one freaking out over getting to finally gaze intimately into Maynard's drooping eyes for a prolonged period of time after nearly 30 years of never seeing more than his gyrating back in music videos?
I was a little worried Maynard may not of had a unique voice anymore because he’s older. But hearing him on this track makes me excited for ANY new content from ANY band.
Barry Macokiner I saw APC a few months ago, and Maynard's voice was like velvet. He still sounds as good as he ever did. That show was freaking phenomenal.
This song may just be my favorite on the album. This song is filled with and brings so many raw and deep emotion for the current state of many things going on. This one hit my hard in my heart and I can’t stop listening to it.
One would assume, unless one knows better. It's not a perfect circle. More like an 0:03 oval with New Era Investments like a stack of orange constructing comes in the way of completion. Oh, they believe they have the US in their grip. They have Donald in position (he's a Mormon, don't let him lie to you, personal knowledge). They think that because they have a plethora of Mormons in the CIA, military, Congress and senate, FBI, etcetera, that they will destroy us like they did various countries in Europe and China and Russia, just like in Joseph smith's manifesto in the 1850s in Missouri. The long game. The oath that the Mormons would travel the world and bring about insurrection and rule all of these places and then come back and do so here. So they will be able to position the world against us. Well, the angel who visited George Washington on the Potomac, SHE, told him the USA would prevail. So the only doomed beings are the ones giving you the looks in this video(and their wicked organization). The shadow government is the Mormon church. Here's one example: the Mormon church owns AOL (The man listed is a strawman. ) AOL owns Disney, (and black Rock who is making working class people homeless by buying properties and then jacking up the rents to astronomical prices - except to their cult members) the most dangerous place to take your kids to. Have you seen all of the child traffickers arrested in Florida in Polk County? Hundreds of kids returned to their families. Dozens of Disney employees arrested since 2020. The Mormons practice polygamy, and genetically this isn't good, because within one generation, none of the siblings can marry anyone in their town, or reproduce, without genetic malformations because of the incest. So they kidnap your kids. And keep practicing polygamy. And the main, original church still does this. To establish a majority in the world. It's the same reason why any other religion encourages its members to have lots of kids. (Yes, Catholics and Muslims too. ) But more intense. Look at the alternative lifestyle filthy shit that Disney has been putting out lately, including star wars. Stuff not wholesome. Definitely not kid appropriate. Just like the Amalekites who seduced some of the Israelite to worship the goddess of adultery, the Mormons frequently will say to each other they are making money off of the sinful ways of the public. Yet they are the devil's selling the stuff. And just like the amalekites, they will fall prey to their own plot. Prophesied. Represent. Keep the faith. Control your urges. Band together against these hateful, pompous, hypocritical crazies who think themselves God's. They have already lost.
I lost my best friend last September and we always connected with APC. I get so sad that he'll never hear this album...do me a favor; hug your loved ones. Tell them how much they mean to you.
I love the music but the concept of duality in the video amazes me. The perfect ilumination, the contrasted faces and the expressions of the group.... It is a masterpiece
Thomas Jefferson Not sure how much you know about the singer, Maynard, but he has been critical of Trump in the past "comparing the 2016 election to the film Idiocracy and joking Trump is probably late comedian Andy Kaufman in disguise." Maynards lyrics are often political. So, if Maynard did a song about Trump, it wouldn't surprise me, especially since Trump is the president now. I would like another song like "Counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums".
I really wish right at the end, after it says, "You're on your own!" it cuts to a shot of a new Apple computer, juxtaposed on both the black and white screens, while highlighting all the new features, and on sale for only $1500! Excited for the new album
Karyna Kaminski Lol he said something like "being on tour, its hard to get a work out in. Why not multitask?" And he whipped them out and went to town on them 😂
What of the pious, the pure of heart, the peaceful? What of the meek, the mourning, and the merciful? What of the righteous? What of the charitable? What of the truthful, the dutiful, the decent? All not doomed 🌹🌹🌹🌹😌
Bro, tell me I’m wrong… this is a gospel song. In the world we live in nobody cares about the pious, peaceful and merciful. These days the word is death and without light. Pay attention, Maynard is an absolute genius. This guy continues to blow my mind.
@ Eric Kerstetter....you're right...but the fact that you're right should scare the hell out of you. This isnt a song. This is a declaration of war against God's creation. Remember, MJK sold out a long time ("I sold my soul to make a record, and. you. bought. one!) Behold a new Christ....ushering in the AntiChrist... He is a tool for Lucifier's agenda...dont be fooled.
The wonderful connotation here is contrast, no hate without love, no loss without value, no meaning without purpose; the rules of this reality are easy to re-write, just understand the context of which rules such as duality must exist. Fear not, love not, know, and un-knowing, gnosis, and without gnosis, all in the context of dualistic constructs. Escape? To know slavery is to know freedom, to know love is to know suffering, who would judge such experiences? Doomed to walk the road again and again, why? Choice. You are god, the creator and the created - choice is the only constant, the only truth. What will you choose? Wonderful song!
