You make me listen to music completely differently, and it's changed things for me! May I make a suggestion for a Maynard piece? He and Trent Reznor started a project together that never got off the ground, but there is a song called Potions that was released that Maynard sounds almost angelic in.

It’s funny you mention Jimmy Page and Robert Plant because there’s a audio recording of an acoustic set floating around on RU-vid that APC does that reminds me very much of the Jimmy Page and Robert Plant from the No Quarter album they came out when they play in Morocco. It’s stunning you don’t realize the Middle Eastern influence as much until you hear them play their songs acoustically… Maynard and Billy are the modern day Page and Plant

Do you know the meme where someone plays a single note, or two, or three from the beginning of a song that is iconic to a certain demographic? The title is something like, "How do you traumatize/frustrate/trigger a ~label~?" When you let the song play out, let the silence happen... then I heard the first two notes of Passive. How do you trigger a ~me~? That's how. Whelp... guess I'm know what I'm listening to next. :P

A perfect circle, awesome choice man! Please check out Major Parkinson, they are an extremely talented and original band from Norway and i think they deserve some exposure. If you where to ask me for a specific song I'd say "Isabel: a report to an academy" should be great reaction material, but then there's "Munchausen by proxy" that sounds totally different but is still the very essence of Major Parkinson or "Madeleine Crumbles" let's not forget "Heart of Hickory" man it's really hard to choose. I hope you will be as impressed as i was when i first discovered them. Love from Romania.

"'Cause it's time to bring the fire down. Bridle all this indiscretion. Long enough to edify, and permanently fill this hollow" What a great song talking the hollowness people live with. Like this song is about a woman who feels hollow inside and tries to fill it with sex only for the relief to last a couple minutes. Same goes for people who use drugs.... they use them to try to feel good feelings even if artificial. But all you're doing is making the hollowness grow. I'd know, it's getting hungry.

Nice to hear your perspective on it. This has always been my least favourite APC album out of the first 3 as I only like one song on the whole album , "Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums". It's good to hear what someone actually likes about songs from this album because most of my friends who like it just said "Eh you don't get it, APC are genius" and don't really talk about the elements of what they like properly. I'll have to relisten to this album now!

Still here. Hello Geebz; can you give any detail on the key he's singing in? It sounds like its a different key, with the 2nd note coming in flat, like he's singing minor key but making chords on 2/4/6 be the base chord instead of 1/3/5. Lends a vibe somewhere between sad and sinister to an otherwise pretty piece, but I don't really know what I'm hearing.

Not sure if anyone has pointed this out below, but that harmony on the chorus is sung by both Billy and Maynard. They start right in the middle, just on top of each others voices, then Billy hits the higher key and Maynard splits to the lower key. Took me a while to learn that. If you listen to Billy's own project 'Ashes Divide', you can hear his singing range, register, and tone way more clearly.
