Amicia might be one of my favorite female characters in recent memory. She is "strong" to a fault, which is something she actually has to overcome as part of her arc and she never really manages to outright overpower one of the soldiers.

In the Thief series you could survive a single instance of combat. You used that option only if you made a mistake in your stealth. If there were two guards you were reloading.

First comics, now video games! I’m almost compelled to learn French by this point. Almost.

Amicia is a great character. Far from perfect and I love it. She makes mistakes, she gets carried away in anger sometimes and almost pays for it with her life.

This game is a prediction of the future. The modern day remake of this game will be called: Escape from California

I didn't even knew about the first game, much less this one. But i will say you convinced me to give it a chance. At the very least the idea of the rats avoiding fire/light sounds fun.

I've only listened to Queensryche's first couple of albums but they kick ass! I'm sure I won't be disappointed as I continue down their discography!

Amicia is one of my favorite fictional protagonists. She is up there with Frodo or Ripley. Her strength is not a superpower, she simply pushes through everything that life throws at her, struggling to maintain her humanity, her ability to be compassionate and empathic, in a world that is psychopathic, often failing but also sometimes succeeding. And by this she is highly aspirational, as everyone knows moments with such struggles, and Amicia shows that it is worth to keep up with it, to hold. She is a metaphor for a child soldier that was forced by adults to become a killer and how the mind of such an individual is fighting against what she was taught to be and who she really is: a 16 year old kid that just wants to live a peaceful, happy life with her family. And by this the story, even tho it is placed in the 14th century, is very relevant for our times, as you have women in Ukraine who lived a normal life one year ago, but are now soldiers killing others, maybe even having lost their homes or loved ones. Amicia's struggle to maintain her humanity in a violent, psychopathic world is a struggle many Ukrainians are fighting right now.

This game, Soulstice and Hifi Rush were some of the most entertaining things that came out of the video game industry, in recent memory.

These Plague Tale games have some of the most infuriating checkpoints ever. That blacksmith cart pushing sequence with the archers in the first game! I haven’t screamed at my tv this much in years. 😆

If anything razor, you understated the story here. The fact that I didn't cry at the end has proven to me that I am incapable of doing so.

I played this beginning to end. Great game. The issue I had with it was listening to the little kid whine throughout the ENTIRE game. It got so bad I played the last half muted. If I want that kind of escapism, I'll just sit in the living room.

This game is 100 times better than The Last of Ass

Didn't expect a surmulot reference from Razorfist of all people.

I’m sorry I feel this way about this game but I think it’s not as good as the first. It’s like the devs said “How do we up the challenge? I know let’s take away some advantages and triple or quadruple the enemies and make those areas four times as long.” I understand that this is number two game and the stakes are bigger, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to double down on everything. The first game, to me , is so original and enjoyable (subject matter aside) that as I’m playing the second game, it felt like such a slog to play. I tried very hard to enjoy it but it just turned into frustration after frustration. The story was better though. I guess I’m in the minority with this one. Sorry for the long post.

By god a proper vidya review from Razor, feels like ages ago since the last one, hell yeah.

Bought the first one on your recommendation and had it free on PS+ so I played it twice on PC and PS. Now got me to buy the second. Looking forward to continuing her story. A feminine main character that isn't boring lady boss is a surprise.

If only game "journalist" reviews were half as entertaining as this.

Tenchu was one of the top five titles for me on the PSOne. It was atmospheric, tactical and engaging. Splinter Cell didn't hold a candle to that.

I was unimpressed by Wuhan Lab Tale: Innocence. When the Pope got introduced to the plot I near immediately started calling him "Rat Palpatine" because he looked like the Emporer. Shortly after I started joking that Rat Palpatine and the protagonists brother were going to have a Rat Force battle to the death... it turns out I was correct. PT:I did all the stealth game tropes you'd expect fairly well, the procedurely generated Rat gifs to simulate a lot of rodents on the screen got tiring after noticing the set of animations a dozen times an hour. I was kind of surprised it got a sequel and because of my apathy I never played Requiem.

An actual game review? in the 2020s? Scary, blue. (Is the SCARE part intentional though?)

I played this game on game pass, but never played the first. I enjoyed it except for some of the force you to fight waves. And while I appreciate the stealth mechanics, I inevitably fuck up and so the fire and crossbow come out to save the day. I did find it weird that the game was made in English, because I had the French audio because why not, and the lipsync was off even though it was a French studio. But overall a good game and I thought it was better game play wise than God of War and elder ring.

I got Innocence for free on the Epic Games Store a while ago but never played it - PC was too crap at the time. I got one that could run this pretty well so I'll definitely give it a go.

I don't know, Amicia felt like Rambo to me at points. That one part when she was locked in that one building, maybe at other points as well.

That is so infuriating that we almost got a proper Tenchu in the modern age and it got turned into a soulslike instead. Probably should have seen it coming but that does not excuse such heinous acts. We'll see if they are forgiven or not when Armored Core 6 comes out. Based on AC5, it's not looking good. When the aliens finally show up and ask to speak to our leader I'm just gonna go ahead and point em to ole Razorfist. That way if they are well civilized they will respect us and if not, he can just bury them in the desert while whistling the close encounters theme... and that'll be that. P.S. you finally played a song that I own on CD. Outside of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden of course.

Some of these games are just full-blown movies that you get to play a part in. I guess this is the "future of gaming" I have been hearing about since the '80s? Old dragons lair would be so proud.

The real let down of this game was the antagonist(s) and that the first one had an overall better story to tell. Both were decent games, I liked them. Oh, also physics dictates Amecia would have been flung off the cliff when she is running from Arnaud and grabs the tree while sliding. That scene makes me irrationally angry

I really had no idea. I had just assumed these games were walking simulators because all the footage I ever saw was in benchmark videos and they only ever show the characters walking through a pretty field.
