A Police Officer was Shot, You Won’t Believe What He Did to His Attacker

When a tragic incident left a New York City police officer paralyzed for the rest of his life, he was understandably angry and bitter. But harboring those emotions inside only "destroys someone from the inside out."
By forgiving the man who had shot him, Steven McDonald found relief from the negative emotions that had overtaken his mind and his heart, and he was able to find joy again. His actions, and those of his wife, to forgive the shooter helped them overcome their trauma and endure the difficulties they continued to face. By reaching out to the shooter in prison, Steven and his wife were able to have a positive impact on him, opening a dialogue that facilitated, over time, a genuine apology from the shooter.
